I have been highly inspired by Yes Theory and their message of seeking discomfort. I try to follow that mantra in my everyday life and this is how.

Man that’s sort of a good way of looking at it, I’ve spent too long comparing myself to others and worrying about my applications not being good enough but this actually really helped out lol

in a society that values wealth over everything else, the key to happiness is not comparing yourself to others as much as you possibly can. i was a shitty college student in an extremely competitive engineering program, and dropped out to eventually become a tradesman. Much happier now that i'm not in the rat race of engineering. Still regret what could have been, especially when i think about meeting past friends and family who i convinced that i was excited about engineering. But then i think about how much more free time i have to spend on myself. Fuck everyone else. I'm doin' me, and getting along just fine. But don't get me wrong. Some derive happiness in leisure. Some derive it from hard work, as the video illustrated. Figure out which one of those two you want more, and either fuck off, or hit the books. Just don't ever compare yourself to others. Your life then revolves around what others want for you.

daaaaamn, if that didn't get you in, you don't even need it. An ascetic mindset like that will take you very far in life, no matter which path you take. I would say good luck, but you already have enough discipline that you don't need it.

You should have referenced Yes Theory. I am 99.9% sure you got the “seek discomfort” from them and it’s actually frustrating to see you not reference it as it was your main selling point and “stand out” in your response. To the admission officer, it would have seemed like YOU came up with this idea and they may have been impressed by you being able to draw these parallels, so I think this was a huge mistake and it was quite frustrating to see this. For future advice: reference any work or idea that came from someone else or else you will get in a lot of trouble.

You're right I will add it to the description. I never thought that this video would do as well as it did so even though I referenced Yes Theory in my application, I forgot to mention it here as this was mainly my platform for showing a few friends and family members. That was an oversight on my part and I am sorry if I came across as trying to steal that phrase or pretending to have come up with it on my own. However, I doubt that that phrase is what got me into college. That phrase would mean nothing without the 99% of my college application that I have not shared on KZfaq. Thank you for your diligence and I hope you can forgive me.
