I have this same gun. Santa brought it to me about 1954. It has never jammed nor had any malfunction of any kind, either high brass or low brass shotgun shells. A real keeper. Made in Belgium.

Thanks for showing some love to the Browning A5 guns. I had an A5 20 guage in the 70s as a teen with a secondary slug barrel for deer. Loved that shotty and wish I still had it.

I used one in the SAP riot unit (now referred to as the Public Order Policing Unit). It was a fantastic weapon. Relatively lightweight, very comfortable to fire, and very reliable, trustworthy as well as very accurate. Just a bit too long for my liking especially when debussing and in tight situations. Loaded and fed smoothly, very light recoil. I preferred this over the Beretta 200 and 202 pump actions we also used.

I’ve got several Belgium A5’s: Light Twelve, std twelve, std sixteen, and sweet sixteen. I’ve also Remington humpback clone and had a Savage version as well. Definitely one of my favorite shotguns.

The Remington isn’t a clone. They were made at the same time and they do have slight differences. Remington was the first semi auto shotgun made in the USA

If it has an original Browning barrel the choke sizes were dictated by a small mark that looks something like an asterisk. One for full, two meant modified, and three for improved cylinder. Mine is a 1950 model with plain barrel. Enjoyed the video!

The 'rimgs' have to be installed depending upon load shooting. Between my Light Twelve, and the Sweet Sixteen, my brother and I leave them set up for quail hunting in Iowa. I like my Ithaca 12 ga pump for a heavier load for pheasant

My Grandpa just passed down one of his Auto 5s to my dad. I thought it was incredibly cool, then I’ve done some research and it’s an amazing shotgun. Belgium made, FN on stock plate. 4G w a 5 digit serial number. The more I’ve looked at it the more invaluable it is.. I’m the firearm collector and hunter in my family and my grandpas the only one who is as well, it’s a beautiful firearm that will hopefully be passed down to me one day. And it has the original owners manual with it.. just insane.🙏🏻🙏🏻😍😍

I still have my Father's A5, and there is no need for a different shotgun. It has a 30.5" barrel that shoots, and cycles like butter still. Geese, Turkey, Grouse, Snipe, Dear, Rabbit, Boar, it does the job well.

I had a couple of these light twelves. Belgian made by FN in 1927 ans 1923. Remington's Model 11 is the same gun made in the US. Both were awesome. Yeah, you're right: These are very instinctive pointers and the long reciever top increases the sight radius, so clays get hit easier. I consider tem to be th ebest working mnan's shotgun ever made. They were designed to do it all by being adjustable to the loads. I think one of the reasons thay are somewhat reasonably priced is that most people don't understand what the old farts knew by common sense. They likely had just one gun, and an empty stomach if they didn't know it well. The A-5 was that gun and would hunt everything. Today, the average buyer has options other than going hungry. One thing I really liked was the "rolling recoil" instead of the sharp punch of every other shotgun out there. When that massive barrel slides back, it's like the heavy slide of a Colt 1911, absorbing tons of recoil shock. Light loads feel like a pea shooter.

A Light Twelve has one drawback compared to a standard model the hammer has openings to lighten the construction. Mine broke and a wild boar almost killed me. If you are hunting wild hog with it make sure you install a full body hammer in it!

I owned a 60’s A5 LIGHT TWELVE - It was a Belgium Made browning - I was in the 8th grade and worked all summer to buy it. I cost me $ 176.00 at the time. I took the best care of it and it was in close to mint condition. At the age of 69 health prevented me from hunting and I found a collector who I knew would care and love gun as I did. I sold it for $ 1,300.00 - if my health would not have one south - I would still have I today. BTW MINE WAS A FULL CHOKE 30” barrel - it weighed 5 3/4 pounds not 8.

That looks more like an Auto-5, the old barrel recoiling shotgun design from the early 1900's instead of the A5, the newer design with the bolt and short stiff spring action similar to the Benelli system. Two different guns and names

@@BaikalTii I also have a Belgian 12 gauge A5 with a modified choke. I took both of them to an older gunsmith and he recommended not using steel shot out of either of them but especially the A5 with the full choke. I finished out the duck season with my Belgian A5 with the modified because he said it's less likely to bulge since the modified ain't as tight. I guess it makes sense I just don't want to mess up the barrels. I inherited both of them from my grandfather so I want to take care of them. It just kind of sucks cause they're amazing shotguns and I'm not supposed to shoot steel lol. I usually shoot high brass #4 steel and so far it hasn't messed up the barrel.
