Bruce Bochy gets emotional with final question as Giants manager

On the field, his eyes could hide behind his sunglasses. His voice did not quake much when issuing a speech he had memorized.
It was on the last question when Bruce Bochy was asked what message he would have for his successor that he cracked.
"I'd probably tell him he got the best job in baseball," the 13-year Giants manager, three-time World champion and 2003-game winner said after the Giants lost in his career finale. "And ... I mean that. I talked about the owner, front office, the city, surrounding areas, the ballpark, the fans. He's getting the best job in baseball."
Beyond the human moment, Bochy was -- outwardly at least -- composed Sunday for his farewell. His on-field, several-minute speech was brilliant, given without notes and from the heart, thanking everyone in not just his baseball life but his life.
He finished by referencing Lou Gehrig: "I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth."
Twenty-five years of managing are over -- right? Bochy was asked if he could definitely say he would never manage again. As he has all season, he left the door slightly ajar.
"I'm good right now," Bochy said.

Cant say enough about how much I mean this... I have never ever been a SF fan, and many times Mr. BOCHY was the opposing coach vs my team, or other teams I've rooted for if/when my team gets bounced out.... Mr. BOCHY gave me headaches n heartbreaks more than a few times, I tried disliking the giants, tried opposing Bruce. All in all though, everytime, Bruce Bochy turned my opinion. I have nothing but respect for the skills and mannerisms of this fella. To be honest, I have to say, to me, he is the best coach of his era. Also right at the top of the list for all eras. Charlie Manuel will forever be my favorite coach during my lifespan. Old skool bball man, Charlie knowledge of the bball gods. Bleeds baseball thru his veins. With that said, I will say I've witnessed Bruce Bochey outcoach so many coaches. Watched the guy take teams that may not have done hlf as well as they did, and he coached them thru the marathon seasons, putting them either at the top, or darn close by autumn. Any time I had a horse in the race against this man, I was nervous hahaha. I don't think I'll ever be a Giants fan.... I do not say that in disdain. What I am trying to portray by saying that, is that even his opps have upmost respect for B.B. and what he brought to the table. #LEGEND.

2012 Game 3 of the LDS in Cincy...the never say die Giants down 2-0 in the series would stave off postseason elimination for the first time..they would do so the next two days also to advance..they'd fall down 3-1 in the series to the defending WS Champion Cardinals before winning 3 straight elimination games and advancing to the WS where they'd sweep the Tigers with Verlander, Scherzer, Cabrera and Co..as awesome as the first one was in 2010, and the last one was in 2014, for me 2012 will always be my favorite because of the never say die clutch that club had..will never forget the moment in Game 7 of the LCS when Pence cleared the bases with the broken bat banana slice past SS that left Buck and McCarver baffled in the booth...lots of terrific lasting memories created by the Bochy era Giants..

Bochy and the Giants won their 3 rings in the prime of my childhood. I was a huge fan of that dynasty because they weren't a dynasty that was heavily favored every year and hits home runs like teams do nowadays. They played baseball the fun way. Small ball, using speed, defense, their pitchers throwing perfect games & no hitters (Cain & Lincecum) and Mad Bum's legendary performance in G7 of 2014 World Series. I was in 8th grade when they last won the whole thing. We all will miss you Bruce #ThankYouBruce
