I loved Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. It might be my 2nd favorite Maiden album. But my favorite is Somewhere in Time. Which would fall right in your timeline.

Hell yeah, live no one really does it better. Saw them for Senjitsu last year and they are coming in October for the future past tour. It's going to be epic. UP THE IRONS!

I like Maiden up to Seventh son and I like Metallica up to Puppets. Yeah I like Bruce Maiden over Metallica. And that’s my taste.

For me it's the first 4 Metallica albums. I love And Justice for All. After that my favorites were Slayer and Pantera. If you ask me Pantera saved heavy metal in the 90's.

I saw some recent Maiden clips post Nicko recovery, and some recent Metallica. No contest Maiden have 5 + years on Metallicas members as far as age and they STILL send them home in a stretcher, despite the mediocre recent albums

I love both, but I have to go with Maiden over Metallica. Talent, musicianship and number of great albums says to me the greater band should be Iron Maiden. Even thpugh Metallica is more popular here in the states, where I live, I have and listen to more music from Maiden than Metallica music. So, up the irons.

The IRON MAIDEN, era post Blaze is superb every album a masterpiece. Sad so many fans lost the plot. The shows have been as full and every bit as exciting as the 80's. UP THE IRONS!!

How bout Metallica vs Iron Maiden since 2000? I would give Maiden a slight edge. PS Sorry Bruce but I thought Brave New World was a bit boring

I loved Brave New World. At first, I only liked Wicker Man. It's a pretty solid album. But my faves are Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son.

I really don't really care which band is "better" since I love both bands; but, if pressed, I'd rank their top albums as such: 1. And Justice for All 2. Piece of Mind 3. The Number of The Beast 4. Master of Puppets 5. Powerslave 6. Ride The Lightning 7. Killers 8. Somewhere In Time 9. Kill 'Em All 10. Iron Maiden

Yeah Ralph ! If anyone out there thinks Maiden wouldn't have got bigger with Dianno still in the band singing on NOTB and after are delusional... Paul WAS (past tense) a better singer than Dickinson in his early days (that's my opinion) and the only thing I think Bruce Bruce was better at that than Dianno was was appealing to female fans ...oh yeah Maiden over Metallica... '80 to '88 only... even with Dickinson...not gonna comment on after cause I lost interest in Maiden after the first Blaze album...and never liked Metallica...

I love Metallica. They were my #1 band when I was in high school. Bruce was right, Maiden are better than Metallica. Still are!

All of them were great in the 80s and all of them are pretty much merchandise-selling circuses now. However, Maiden is still AMAZING live while 99.9% of other old acts are just there for nostalgia. And don't get me wrong but Maiden fans want to hear the newer band's stuff too and at the same time I know nobody who'd come to Metallica to hear their stuff released after 1991.

I really like both Metallica & Iron Maiden ach I'm not crazy about either, I suppose I'm only 29 and for me the blind worship of these bands is really overblown when both have been last their prime for decades at this stage ach their stuff came out 40 odd years ago now and sure Iron Maiden are almost 50 year auld now, as they started in 1975.

Iron Maiden blows away Metallica and I'm a Metallica fan. Maiden debut blows away Metallica's debut kill 'em All, Maiden never made Load or Reload, Maiden never sold out, and Maiden's worst album is still better than St Anger.

I never cared much for anything other than Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind from Maiden. Only recently have I been trying to listen to Maidens first 2 and I am completely mystified when I hear someone like Ralph here saying those are better than anything Metallica ever put out. I'm nowhere near that assessment. To me its not even close, Metallica.

I personally don't care for most Maiden post 'Somewhere In Time'. IMHO, Metallica's first 4 crush anything Maiden did with Bruce (Yeah, I'm saying it) and rival their first two albums. Don't get me wrong, I like that era of Maiden, but it's not on the level of Priest, Sabbath, early Metallica, Megadeth, or even Saxon for me. To each their own, I guess. OTOH, Dickinson has got to be the most pompous singer in metal these days. It's amazing how the more rabid fans defend his assholish behavior, and the ludicrous shit he says and does.

The first three Metallica albums wouldn't have existed without Iron Maiden. And James couldn't write harmonies like Phanton until at least Lightning. Those first three albums are amazing, though.

I like to do my personal track by tracks like Ralph does on this channel with the old Metallica albums Vs the old Maiden albums and every time I pair them up - Metallica wins. I love old Maiden and consider “Hallowed Be Thy Name” my favorite song of all time, so that’s not a knock on Maiden. More a comment on how incredible those early Metallica albums are.

I used to be a big Maiden fan but Metallica is and always was better. Their look and lyrics are far less corny. Their songs aren't self-indulgent ego solo fests. James actually tried with his lyrics, it wasn't just "come up with a deep sounding title and then just repeat it in the chorus". I like Bruce's explanation and I agree with the overall meaning, but from this fan, Metallica is better.
