Bruce Jenner is a former Olympian and reality television star on the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Jenner reached fame and success with a gold medal win in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. By winning the decathlon title, Jenner brought the Gold back to the United States from the Soviet Union during the Cold War, making him a American hero. Jenner used his Olympic success to launch a career in TV, film and most recently reality television. Following years of success with Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Bruce has most recently been under scrutiny as to whether or not he is undergoing a sex change to a woman.
There’s been speculation in the media, rumors across the blogosphere, and talks within the Kardashian family about Bruce Jenner’s sex change wishes. Bruce sits with ABC’s Diane Sawyer to talk about the details about his transition to a woman in an exclusive interview on ABCNews 20/20 Friday April 24, 2015.

Really because I feel like most people suspected something was off. There were always rumors since the start of the show that he was transitioning into a woman and that continued for years. But it wasn't because he revealed the secret to anyone, it's just people thought he was very feminine and so people started joking about him turning into a woman. And then it actually happened.

I don't like him changing himself into a woman. I honestly feel sorry for him. Having identity issues like that for so long, must've been hell. But changing your sex like that is not a good way to cope. Especially when you already have so many things in your life established and you're already in your late sixties. I just wish people would stop praising him as if he's some kind of hero. As if he actually did something that will really matter in the long run. All he did was come out about how he has issues with his own identity. There are plenty of other people who have done what he's done and get no praise like this for it. This honestly isn't even something to be proud of. Hell he looks no different now than he did before. I highly even doubt this will really even change much for him cause he's still got that crazy ass family to deal with. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Tissan Young it doesn't matter if it doesn't matter in the long run to you, your friends, your family, or the rest of the world. It's HIS body, HIS identity issue, HIS choice. so it does matter in the long run to him. clearly he wanted it done before he dies just to experience it even if he is already in his 60's. and he was already aware of the fact that he could die during the process and it's risky, he didn't care. experiencing this is as important to him as experiencing something like bungee jumping off a cliff on a person's bucket list. what does this change have to do with his family?he said he was struggling with his identity, his family is in no way connected to that so it's not like he got a sex change thinking it would make it easier for him to deal with his family. Not a fan of his family at all, but he seems to love them for some reason so I don't even think that's a problem. this is about helping him feel more comfortable in his own skin and body. of course he'll get praised for this compared to normal people, he's a celebrity, what do you expect? in that case normal people literally risk their lives for others and do a ton of other much more heroic things on a daily basis and of course they won't get coverage compared to a Kardashian being pregnant for the second time, a president wanting to run for another term, etc. I'm not saying his case is the same as a fireman risking his life to save a ton of people from a burning building or something, but come on, transgenders do not have the easiest lives either quit denying it. that's just life, the rich/famous are always given more importance. If Kim K were to die today, a lot more people would be mourning her death for a long time to come even if she is only famous for her looks, compared to a 10 sacrificing himself to give away his viable organs to other sick children who need them to survive. It sucks, I agree, but these are just the facts. were you born yesterday?

Tissan Young lmao no one said he won the Nobel Peace Prize but if it helps even one transgender person out there to feel less embarrassed/pressured/whatever to come out to their loved ones, then so be it. even if it does take a famous person to give them that push. and it's not like its easy to do what he did? you are literally transforming yourself into an entirely different person, along with the physical change. after everyone in his life has known him as bruce for the past 64 years. its a very risky decision to make and with him being in the public eye, that's just more room for hate and judgemental comments that could be really emotionally scarring. again, not saying it's comparable to winning the Nobel prize, but it's not like what he did was some super simple procedure with no side effects or something.

I remember watching him win the Olympics in 1976, I was a teenager then... It's difficult grasping the huge evolutionary journey of Bruce to Kaitlyn. "Back in the day (70s)," there were horrible stigmas against people of different sexual orientations, much less the now seemingly endless list of headings assigned to every possible gender/sexual orientation. I cannot imagine his/her challenges throughout life, esp. under the intense microscope of being in the public eye. Kudos for his/her courage to live true!

It's okay if you're afraid of death and use religion as hope that you live forever, but you must keep your beliefs to yourself and not use them to slander another human being. Like god said, you must love one other. You're not god anyways, so you have no right to judge. And yes Bruce was confused at first when it came with her gender back in the day, but she has finally came to the conclusion to become a women so the confusion ends. She seems perfectly fine in this interview. Here's something to think about though, if god knows the future for each of us, he'd know if we were to go to hell or not right from creation. So "life" is just an illusion of choice. He knows what we'd decide in the end and he'd know about this discussion. Isn't it sick, to create a human and give them "life" knowing at the end, they're damned to go to hell for eternity? He's far worse than hitler & khan combined, he's a true monster. But I'm glad he isn't real!

Bruce says he "feels" like a woman. I call BS. People can "feel" like a lot of things, but those feelings do not always translate into something that is accurate. Many feelings are actually caused by chemical, hormonal, or medicinal origins. Many feelings are just flat-out wrong. I once was in a hospital room, 5 days after medium surgery. I was positive I could see thousands of ants crawling on the walls. I could see them. I could feel them. I could hear them. I begged people to get rid of them. Gee, turned out my "feelings" were not correct. Sorry, but I had a temporary chemical imbalance, that led to an illusion. They corrected the imbalance with a pill, and bingo, no more ants. Bruce's feelings could almost certainly be corrected by the right combo of drugs, but THAT outcome would not feed into his ego as well, and it's certainly not what the producers of the "Kardashians" show would like. There are a LOT of people in Hollywood who are milking this story, all the way to the BANK. The more attention Brucie gets with this ongoing insanity, the more $$$$$ the show gets. This whole colorful car crash translates into more money for every character on the show, more money for the producers, and more sales for the sponsors. Who loses? Us. We, the gullible idiots, who actually believed that all this crap about Bruce and his "gender identity" (HAHAHHA LOL) was genuine.

I recorded this to watch later. I LOVED it! I have to say, I don't watch that much T.V., don't keep up on things but DO absolutely remember him from winning 10 gold Medals for the U.S. In 1976. That greatest athlete was an unheard of achievement! As it turns out, this inter ire was surprising. Diane Sawyer apparently hadn't a clue (judging by her questions) who he is, that he's not a "what" at all, etc. That said, this was the best interviews I've ever seen. He's the nicest person I've ever seen on T.V. Gosh, I see it now...I "get it". Had no idea all these people are out there even. I'm so very sorry for being 67 years old and just not knowing about this. Can't imagine that anyone would NOT like him, have a problem with this at all. It's more like some enjoy sports, some don't . I love my jeans but heels no so much. Who cares? My interests, my tastes, are mine. Always have been. Who's hurt by this? No one at all. I can only support with my whole heart all the people who believe that they must hide (for any reason) their true self as long as they hurt no one (e.g. Violence) and are fine. I'm fully aboard with this and are thankful that I learned about it. Bruce Jenner can come to my home anytime and be welcomed (and appreciated) for as long as he wants. May the best days be his now. What an awesome gift to the world he really is !

Marian McAfee " winning 10 gold Medals for the U.S. In 1976.". Jenner would be the first to tell you that he only ever won one medal, but he had to do a lot to win it. :-) I too loved the interview (I'm in the UK so grabbed an mp4 via bittorrent). It was so moving and inspiring, and I wish Jenner well in this new life.
