True . They were filming him at high speed because he was so fast . At the film's regular film speed , Master Lee's hands and feet would literally disappear and reappear .

That speed was epic and truly magnetic; no inflated camera work there as has been revealed; just true force of nature; that is some training and focus. Watch the reaction of the extras and understand how truly epic his reaction time was in sequence for all of them to witness; they were very proud indeed! Look for it; its not part of the script; watch for the guys jumping up clapping...

@5ynthesizerpatel
@5ynthesizerpatel Жыл бұрын
I think that might be a subtle look at a (western style?) karate thing that I used to see a lot of. I used to spar with so many karate guys who used to do this thing where they'd raise the knee and flick out a quick but powerless kick ( and telegraph the kick in the process) - maybe effective in the kind of tournaments that were prevelant back then where a touch scored you a point - but not what I was trained to do. They'd get really pissy when I landed heavy kicks on their blocks and learned that you can't tap away a strong kick without it hurting

The "Man with scar", is Robert Wall. He was a Grandmaster in Tang Soo Do, also trained in Jeet June Do,Shotokan & Jiu jitsu& good friend of Bruce Lee & Chuck Norris irl. He past away earlier this year. Also, the famous " boards don't hit back "- line, refers to Bruce Lee's believe that if you want to proper train martial arts, you should always train by doing sparring against other fighters. Hitting a board & practicing Katas or forms alone, doesn't prepare you for fighting an opponent. Bruce Lee was influenced by Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate, who was teaching the same principle.

Bob Wall was assigned to be Lee's bodyguard and prevent him from getting into challenge fights. (he failed) He did vividly describe where Bruce beat the crap out of an extra who challenged him. Bob considered him "a very good fighter" Also, that kick that sent Wall flying, believe it or not, was real, how was he still alive after that? :)

Even after 49 years, I'm still watching this scene. Bruce Lee's speed and accuracy is spectacular! He is so fast in this scene that I had to buy the DVD. With a DVD I can hit the pause and go frame by frame to see what Bruce Lee is doing. I had heard that he used his left hand to pull O'Hara/Bob Wall's hand down as he punched him. And just to emphasis my point, Bruce Lee is actually slowing down his speed. Just so the camera can catch 'something'. I don't often think of him slowing down his speed for the camera, but when I do it's simply amazing.

His fighting fury was incomparable. His spirit was indomitable. Twenty years following his untimely death, Bruce Lee remains the movies Supreme martial arts star. And Enter the Dragon stand the test of time as the most popular Martial - arts epic in film history. Enter the Dragon take Lee to the island fortress of a criminal Warlord, whose martial arts academy covers up opium- smuggling and prostitution activities. To avenge the Death of the sister, Lee infiltrates the stronghold and enters Han brutal martial- arts Tournament- a breathtaking visual feast of competitions flushing skills in karate, judo,tai kwan do, tai chi chuan and hapkido, staged by Lee himself. In action, he moves with speed and confidence of the cat Swatting at string. Evan in repose, his understated presence is magnetic. The martial - arts enthu-Siam’s he generated still endures, pleasing legacy. Enter the Dragon is the ultimate Bruce Lee high!

When the movie came out, most MA people didn't get the 'wrist-on-wrist' line-up before the fight. Some, STILL don't! This was a sign of respect by Bruce to his Master Ipman and their unique WING CHUN training techniques. In training it's called the 'reference point'. Where your hands are during an altercation.. and what to do.. 'From There'. THIS is "upper-Outside-to-Outside".. and then there's.. upper, Inside-Inside, and lower, outside-outside.. etc.

Watching Bruce's lower body movement in those first three blows that he lands. It's honestly hard to tell if he was advancing forward and pivoting on the back leg in some of those or if the momentum of his strike is carrying him forward.. choreographically its incredible, and he appears to assume an adaptation of what started out as a southpaw boxing stance, which would explain the advancing forward and pivot. Either way, love it. I need go back and revisit the sketches on the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, but I'd imagine that stance may well have taken observation from the subtle differences in the footing between boxing and Muay Thai stances.. really also love all the footwork and how he controls the pace of the match, and even as it goes to the death. He comes forward and goes on the offensive without hesitation. Brilliiant.

Bruce finished 4 movies with each one getting better in choreography, style, philosophy, and production values. There is no martial arts movie like enter the dragon since then. The world was robbed of the unique artistry of Bruce Lee. One wonders what he would have done next. My personal favorites since that time is the Yip man series from Donnie Yen and Kiss of the Dragon from Jet. But those movies still pale in comparison.

There's an excellent video out there of this scene in slow-motion and yes, Bruce Lee does a feint or fake strike just before the "real" strike. It's way too fast for the human eye to see at normal speed, though.
