Man, weekend TV was so awesome in the 80s & 90s. I used to get picked up on a Friday afternoon by my grandparents (after fun house) and I'd spend the weekend with them. My Greatest memories from childhood was spending weekends with them. Friday evening we'd always have fish n chips from the local chippy and we would have a cadburys crunchie afterwards (that Friday feeling, lol). Saturday morning I'd be up at 6am with grandad and help him make the coal fire. He'd have my breakfast ready for when top banana started at 7am, then it was either get fresh, motormouth, wide awake club (as you know, lol) Ghost train, Saturday morning superstore, going live and live n kicking. Oh and let's not forget the ITV chart show. The evening tele was just as great. Remember "you bet" with Mathew Kelly? That was one of my favourites along with gladiators. I always remember watching the A-team, knight rider and murder she wrote on a weekend too. Jeez Louise, the 80s n 90s really was lit.

It really was. I really enjoyed reading about your lovely memories. I have the same memories of when I used to stay with my Nan. I forgot about top banana. Whilst we might view things through rose tinted glasses as we get older, I really think that the 80’s and the 90’s was a seminal period for many industries. TV, music, tech, video games etc. We were lucky to have been a part of it. Kids TV was at its peak as well.

@@ReelFilm2016 there are a few vids/clips of top banana on KZfaq, but not many. I always loved the "assault course" on the show. I'd have given anything to do that as a kid. Yeah, grandparents were a blessing, eh. Great memories. Seems many of us used to spend our weekends at the grandparents. We definitely had it good back then. 80s n 90s pop culture was second to none.

@@TheRetroManRandySavage Good times indeed. 😀 Yes, I look on KZfaq for top banana and found a few. I don’t remember it that well, but I remover little bits. Was it on very early in the morning?

@@ReelFilm2016 I think this repeat of Bruce's Price is Right from series 1 went out on December 27th 1996 because at the end the announcer mentioned that Sir Brucie would return the following Sunday the first of 1997 with series 13 of Play Your Cards Right

@Reel Film Shown on 27 December 1996 which is rather odd as the titles have since changed for Series 2

It was indeed, transmitted out of sequence and as a one-off at 1710 between Xmas and New Year when at that time it was still very much a peak time show

@usbluephones838 It was meant to be shown on Monday 18th December 1995 but it gave way for the rotten film, Crocodile Dundee II at 8pm.
