Not a ballad, but a "homage" to the band members who have passed away. It's not a "playlist" song, it's about losing your friends and realizing how important they were in your life. That's why Jon Landau was breaking up at the end, the road is long, and this is a fine tribute to Clarence, Danny and all others who passed away. Jon Landau is the writer who came up with rock n roll's famous quotes after seeing Bruce in the early 1970's....."I have seen the future of rock n roll, and it's name is Bruce Springsteen"..........spot on!!!

As always - honest review - Bruce has described his career as a long conversation he has had with his fans - and he has entered the stage where he knows his sunrises are counting down and his new songs reflect that ( he has put out 3 albums since the pandemic started- and let it slip on the Howard Stern show that he has another one near ready at home- not bad for 73 years old) He is conversing with his past , and present long time friends - seeing Danny and Clarence in the mix , with Jon Landau present - post brain surgery to remove a growth - is what would elicit the response for longtime fans I would love to see you react to a live version of this once his tour gets going - just to see if his live energy and delivery might bump your score This is one of his moment songs for me - perfect at the right moment and mood , but doesn't fit all the time Happy Mo-vember

For Bruce, you have to do Rosalita Come Out Tonight (from really any concert), Ramrod (from Barcelona 2002), Mary’s Place (from Barcelona 2002), Waiting On a Sunny Day (from really any concert), Sherry Darling (from the No Nukes Concert), New York City Serenade (from Rome 2013), Born in the U.S.A. (From Madison Square Garden 2000), (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher (From the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary), and Kitty's Back (From Perth 2014). All amazing!

I love this song. He sang it at the September 11th memorial and it's was amazing. Maybe not a 'banger', but wonderful just the same. The whole album, Letter to You, was written because his last original bandmate from his High School band, The Castiles, had passed away. You'd probably enjoy 'Ghosts' more, it's much more upbeat as is 'Burning Train'.

Performed acoustically at the end of the shows he has been doing gives you reflection. Sometimes music isn’t always about energy and drive. Sometimes the best music comes from the heart and considering he is the “last man standing” from his original band, it means something to him. Not everything is a hard rocker but I do value your reviews

Many of the songs on this album, including this one, were “inspired” (probably not the best word) by Springsteen visiting the last band member from his first band who was dying from cancer and ultimately passed away. A lot of rumination on missing those that have passed - “Ghosts” and “Last Man Standing” for example. Not a banger but if the subject matter connects with you, it can be moving. It didn’t connect with you, oh well, that’s life. Fair and enjoyable review.

For me, Ghosts it is much more powerful. It's on the same album. Would you like some more, I think.

There's a classic song with this title, from the artists Isham Jones and Gus Kahn from the 20's. I thought this would be a cover of that much better song. Check out Joe Brown's version at the end of Concert for George (Harrison). Beautiful live performance.

I’m a huge Springsteen fan, and this wouldn’t be on my playlists either. There are much better songs on a similar theme on the same album.

You are becoming a cranky old man David...LOL, Kidding. You still have not done Rosalita. Gotta be a live version.. Phoenix is old as dirt but any version from the 80s will do. I will defer to JFK on which version.
