hello, i'm interested to the hp envy with ryzen and i want to know something... The internal parts are the same as the ones of this video (The m2 ssd and the 2.5 drive)? Rams are 4+4 as the video says? Because i've found it on amazon italy; if i buy it i'm interested in installing an hdd drive and also in future to upgrade ram ( not if they're dual channel as the video says, but the official site for the ryzen model doesn't say that).thanks

I can answer your questions, the parts are indeed the same save for the Ryzen APU inside and compatible motherboard. It comes with drive bays for an M.2 drive and a 2.5 SSD or HDD. The base model comes with dual channel (2x4) RAM and supports up to 32 GB (2x16) of RAM. If you want to upgrade the 2.5 drive you must buy the base model that comes with the 1 TB HDD inside or one of the options that include both an M.2 and the HDD. The reason for this is because if you buy a version that only comes with a M.2 drive installed, HP will not include the SATA cable that goes from the motherboard to the 2.5 drive bay. I bought the base model and opened the back in order to add my own M.2 NVME drive and will probably open it up again in the future in order to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB (2x8). I'm okay with the 7200 RPM 1 TB HDD in there but I could also upgrade that to an SSD in the future if I wanted to as well. Hope that answered your questions, and so far after doing a fresh install of Windows and adding back all the drivers, the AMD Ryzen has been fantastic.

if the problem is only the sata cable, it can be bought and also a caddy; so it's not a matter, i wanted to know if there is a space for a 2.5', you say yes i suppose. In italy on the hp store is only selled with a ssd and not in combo. Also, are the banks of ram built on the motherboard (as minute 5:49) or they are put in dimms normally? There is one 2.5 drive bay and one M.2 bay. If they only sell it with the M.2 installed then you will probably need a SATA cable and connect it to the motherboard and feed it into the 2.5 drive bay for your 2.5 SSD/HDD. The RAM is not soldered to the board both DIMMs are removable.

Yes, the hinge area is the easier way to get the bottom lid off. Use plastic pry stick found in most computer tool kits.

@@machoxs111 I bought a SanDisk Ultra 1.024 TB Internal SATA from Best Buy. The Screws on the front are Torx (sp) 5 and the screws under the rubber stops towards the hinges are a regular phillips head. I purchased a small torx set from Lowe's for $10. I used a butter knife to separate the top (do not follow my example). I used EaseUs Copy 3.0 to copy my hard drive to the SSD. I hope this helps.

I have also updated nvme ssd in m.2 slot but it is running on PCIe 3.0×1 because on which Speed is restricted bec it supports PCIe interface 3.0×4 jus wanted to confirm on which interface your ssd is running ? My model number is hp envy bp112dx

J Singh I would have to reopen it and show the entire process. But there really is not much to it. After you open it you literally just screw on the one screw for the HDD. if you have any questions let me know and I can help you out.

In the model I had (15-bp) you have an M.2 SSD slot and a 2.5" SATA drive, so you could fit two drives into it. Do you know the model you have and I'll dig out the service manual.

I have the same laptop and I am willing to do the same thing. As far as I could understand, the answer would be yes. Our 128ssd uses the m2 connection next to the ram, so the 1tb hdd for example, would be located right left the battery. We can add 1tb and keep the 128sd for windows only.

No, this needs to be built in to a laptop really.

The battery can be replaced once you have it open. The rubber strip on mine went back on with the already attached adhesive.

You have a different model to me - the bp152wm has 4GB RAM as standard, so presumably has 4GB on-board + an empty DIMM slot. I'd add a 4GB DDR4-2400 DIMM to take it to 8GB.

@@BrueComputing , thank you for the fast reply, I did open my computer and hoping that all 4GB shown on my system info were the soldered RAM from factory. However, I see that the slot on the right side did have a 4GB removable RAM stuck in it. (a Samsung ddr4 2400T ...., it match to what is shown in my system info) PS. I tried win10 system/about, old control panel/system, CPU Z, and Hp hardware Diagnostics..., All shows only one 4GB in my computer. So I was wondering if my model simply just don't have the soldered-in 4GB, and therefore the dual channel is not capable of my model. That I'm still looking for the answer for it.

Thomas Tang did you ever figure it out ? The bp1xxx models have a integrated 4gb and a slot . I haven’t been able to confirm this but as much as I’ve researched in the manual it says these models have a one non accessible

If you search for the exact model you have on the HP site they normally have service manuals published. They'll vary a bit depending on the internals.

Yes if it comes with an nvme slot on the board it is upgradable and you can upgrade to an ssd as long as its a 2.5 and not size 3

Matched modules is preferable, but you can have two different modules so long as they are the right type (DDR4-2400 SO-DIMMs)

Mine stuck on fine with the original. If not though I'd just use a thin double-sided tape.

Definitely worth doing - if like me you have a model with SSD + HDD I'd swap out the HDD for a large capacity SSD, will reduce noise, power consumption, etc.

I thought about getting that one when I bought this, but I only have the 256 SSD. It's nice, but I depend on External HDDs, a USB hub, and NAS... :-)

The standard SSD fitted to it is SATA M.2, but the keying of the port allow for the fitment of a PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, so I'd expect this to work.
