I grew up in the 70's and this music is just as good as it was then. Bruno and Andy did an amazing job on the album.

Untouchable…they’re on fire. The band is Bruno’s touring band and have been with him for 10 years. Bruno started working from age 4. He’s now 36. He grew up on this era due to working with his parents 1950’s revue in Hawaii. I grew up through this era and they are taking me back to a place I love. But the production is amazing and current, no auto tune and the depth of musicianship is remarkable compared to the over treated auto tuned and fixed tracks that have flooded the market more recently. It translates live better as well, they just performed this to open the AMA’s, and like they do, changed it up again. They sound better live as you probably saw with Leave the door open, BET and Grammys earlier this year and that was planned as they both said in interviews. They both come from a live background so are hoping to tour as soon as things open up. The rest of the album is brilliant, classic and from Intro to Blast off, the last track, tells the complete story of a blissful love that turned sour then the recovery to find new love. The talent is strong in these two, just hope they do some more albums and get to tour soon.

I'm from that time period guys. I was very young, though. I think the whole album is awesome. Silk Sonic did an excellent job at capturing the sounds of the 70s and 80s. Anderson Paak is also a musical genius.

As a 55 year old man that grew up in that time. I have been screaming at the top of my lungs for this. With the amount of talent in the world and the youth give us garbage music, finally someone uses real instruments again. Love it!!!! I want more artists to blend old with new.

The 70's had great music. Check out Rufus and Chaka Khan, Isley Brothers, Earth,Wind and Fire, Al Green, Bobby Womack to start. I'm glad Silk Sonic was formed, so today's young people can have an appreciation for the great genre of r & b.

I was a teenager in the seventies and I absolutely love how they have brought retro back!! The close the moves everything about Bruno Mars and silk sonic are spot on on! If you wantna know a little bit of how the seventies were you're getting a taste with this album ! There is not a bad song on this album I absolutely love it! I grew up in that era. I love these guys. They mix elements of today with the sounds of back then, but I consider them trailblazers. Not many instrumental ensembles out there in pop music. They are compared to the male singing groups of the 70’s, but they remind me of “The Brothers Johnson”. A funk group of the 70’s.

Soul Train: A weekly television show that featured soulful music, guest artists & dancers dancing to all the music, with hosting & brief interviews by Don Cornelius. Of course, many Motown artists appeared on Soul Train, including Jackson 5, Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Four Tops etc. But soul music cast a huge wide net stemming from the ‘60’s to this millennium. The Philadelphia sound was also a big part, as heard in Harold Melvin & the Blue Note featuring Teddy Pendergrass, The O’Jays, & McFadden & Witehead (Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now). Though Soul Train was actually filmed & recorded in Los Angeles, Ca., the theme song was the MFSB Philadelphia Orchestra. You should make a point to check out the movie, HITSVILLE: The Making Of Motown. Bruno & Paak love the music of this era, & even some from artists of the ‘60’s & ‘60’s.

As a pianist-composer, I can tell you what musicians-particularly jazz musicians-think of this music! It harkens back to ‘70s R&B. Earth Wind And Fire, Stevie Wonder, James Brown. But there are jazz elements here as well. Harmonic sophistication like Steely Dan, the Doobies, Michael MacDonald. It’s been 50 years since I’ve heard pop music use these hip chord changes with chordal extensions like this and I’m here for it! Fire for real!
