Brunswick, GA...wow! This is one of the poorest and most dangerous cities in the state of Georgia. High in crime, homelessness, and having an over 32% poverty level, its one of the worst cities to live in within the United States. I saw a whole lot of abandoned / dilapidated homes, and very few people around. The economy is struggling as its one of the slowest recovering cities in Georgia after recent years, and there's no improvement in sight. Brunswick is also known as "The Shrimp Capital of The World". The Port of Brunswick is one of the largest US roll on / roll off points of trade, with automobiles being one of the biggest sources. You wouldn't think that by what I seen though. There's a lot of history and potential here, can it make a come back? Let's take a drive and check out some of the worst areas!

I’m from Brunswick Born and raised ! I didn’t realize that there were a lot of abandon houses in the city until after watching this video..I saw the hood and the childhood home that I grew up in and just shook my head..You were in the hoods..But not all areas look like that ..I always pray that one day God will bless me to be a blessing to the neighborhood that I grew up in and to the homeless people as well..I’m 42 years old can can say that Brunswick has grown..But still has limited resources to help out the homeless.

If you’re not from here you would not understand . Brunswick is located in Glynn county Georgia. There are a couple other places in this county. Such as saint simons island , or sea island . So if you drive around Brunswick and see bad roads , bad houses. It’s because all the money from taxes and such . Goes to the rich folks on the islands . I grew up here . And no wear will you see the line of rich and poor so clearly.

We stopped in Brunswick for a little while on the way home from a girls trip about 10 years ago. We walked around in the cute little downtown area and even then, everything was just kind of dead. There was a book store, a cupcake shop and another bakery, a few other little stores down there. The small business owners had kind of banded together in a desperate attempt to drum up business by encouraging any customers they did get, to check out the other stores on the street. It's sad to see that the general area has continued to deteriorate.

I’m born and raised in Brunswick but I moved out back in 1997. Brunswick looked nothing like this when I was growing up. All of the dilapidated homes in the video were all occupied and were looking better when I was a kid. I revisited the town back in 2021 and was amazed at how some of the homes I grew up around were abandoned and run down. From what I had observed, when family and I had gathered at my cousin’s house down there, you have to live a little further out in the burbs to get a clean, up to date, good looking home down there.

This video showcases the the some of the worst aspects of the city. Noticbly the southend or downtown. These areas have been neglected for years by the municipality in favor of the resort areas of the county. There are no true excuses behond economic incentives to encourage growth among afleunt areas. Its sad. There is a lot of history overlooked in the downtrodden. I grew up in the areas depicted. There was a better time for them and i saw it. I hope its not forgotten.

@@hoodsnhollers You're quite welcome. In defense of super thanks, not many people even know about them or how to give them. When I saw one in a comment section, I asked the person donating what it was and how could I do one. Anyway, have a wonderful holiday. Wish I could give you more but I am on SS and this time of year is tough on the wallet.

I hear you and I am grateful thank you so much. Have a great holiday, and watch for those arrows in some upcoming videos. Youre gonna make me really find some worthy things to use them on lol
