Regarding your spider tome comment. There's a mod for that. Well, there's like three, but one is really good. The one you are after is the Tome of Arachnids. It's a nature/shadow affinity T1 tome, it gives you a couple of spider units, a city structure, an improvement, and a spell that you are really going to like. :)

I like your AOW4 videos the most . I feel like i am watching something unfold in narrative time. Not at Vod speed. Many have their lets plays but you, you take the time to edit out the the hour of in game decision making and simple moving. Making it a much better watching experiance. Thanks.

The exact same thing with the ending happened for me with the "Librarian". Ran around for half an hour trying to find the guy whilst controlling the entire map. I had like 18 stacks of tier 4 units just searching the map

Be industrious. Spider mount, Ferocity for max retaliation. Animal Kinship, Anointed People, Steelskin, Rita make my monster Supergrowth, Major transformation Wightborn. Key spells are Aspect of the Root, Sundering Blades, Artisan Armaments, opponent appropriate +dmg enchantment. 6 stack is Bastion x3, T3/4 Archer of choice, Skald (aoe buffs), Transmuter. drop one if your slotting in your leader. For your leader, take support abilities that increase army melee and +armor +resist for the army. Bastions can self heal with aspect of the root and optimally are taking 4-5 attacks a turn since they'll all have 3 retaliations each, all with lifeleech (wightbon) and sundering blades. High crit chance further increases damage potential. Transmuter is for sniping berserkers/targets with steadfast. This works even after spidernerf because of good aoe/zoning from a melee unit. Support with summon trinkets and totem of the wild for disposable shock troops.

It's not as broken as spiders, but one build I have been having fun with is the infinite range high archer spam. Unleveled, they can get +2 range from seeker arrows and awakened, and once they hit legend, they get +3. The range is so ludicrously long that it can sometimes even outrange a cavalry charge when the AI puts the cavalry towards the back of the formation.

Materium is pretty crazy, as "Gilded Magic" will stun units when you crit them with magic. It's not a base chance, it just does it. The final astral tome will grant you a 100% chance to crit with magic attacks, so your heroes will just overrun anything in their path if you combine the two, while also creating hundreds of gold each battle. Golden Golems are also the only unit which can heal itself for permanent health during combat, so you can have fully sustainable armies which are immune to any negative status effects. The final Materium tome also has the strongest damage spell available, as it deals 30 damage to ALL enemies. If you combine this spell with some heroes with spell amplification, you can deal up to 322 physical damage to each enemy unit per cast, if you cast it during the age of materium.

Loving the AoW4 content! Maybe you can do a OCC with the mega cities realm configuration and try to battle as much as you can with a melee two handed hero and hoard the top tier itens for a crushing victory. That'd be fun!

You sold your fallen healer hero rather than raise it, then forget you changed your melee hero into a ranged hero, who you then changed back into a melee hero (pretty sure). You're heroes seem to come in second to the spiders. They're the real heroes apparently.

I played as a feudal dwarf race in some arctic mountains, whatever, and went for the Materium spell victory. Obviously everybody and their grandmother declared war on me, and there were these undead toad neighbors whose lieutenant hero was a warlock beast. I didn't know that at the time, I was seriously underestimating their forces because it was all level I and II, with just a couple of level III, in the end game that's nothing, I destroyed a majority of stupid skellies with some massive Lava Burst spells, and the rest routed. But not the warlock beast. He was like 'come get me bro' and wouldn't want to move into range, while I was slowly chipped away by the arctic blizzard. He alone obliterated 2 cavalries and 3 iron golems and got killed in the end by my lieutenant, Lv12 great dwarven protector. I was like 'phew what a battle'. But then he resurrected and healed nearly completely. I had to kill him 4 times while I also had to tackle the actual king hero flying on a wyvern, knowing fully I'm lacking the mobility to chase him. I won in the end, but lost both of my heroes and like 200 mana. The only units that survived the clash was the scout and a single boot of a dwarven shield defender (it was 2 to 3 full stacks in their favor, and I sadly lacked proper healing because my 3rd support stack was in the outpost). This battle was straight out of LoTR if you ask me, I was literally gripping my chair, sweating. And in the meantime I'm fighting Lost Wizards fighting over my nodes of Materium with their entourage and they're NOTHING, I mean literally nothing compared to this crazy shit. Oh and btw I was surprised when everybody declared war on me, Karissa was the only one who politely asked for pacts and shit. She pushed all the way to the alliance, even fought the other empires for a couple of turns, and when I was like 'No. I'm winning this alone' then she turned her back immediately and was like 'fuck you then it's war' I had to lol, pretty good AI there, nice try!

I decided to play a game with the exact same start minus the demon king stuff, ended up with the tier 4 materium book for the explosive arrows as well insanely powerful

I like spider mounts as a start trait and using that tome that turns them into flying birds- they keep the web ability

I'm pretty sure that by the time the demon lord had been sent off into the void, he had already turned one of his remaining cities into his throne city, which is in fact an option. So if you wanted for this to be a genuine victory, all you had to do was hunt down whichever city the demon lord had made his new throne city, take said new throne city, then rinse and repeat as needed until he was down and out for good.

I agree lost leaders are annoying, I had one in my chosen destroyers game (Fun gamemode BTW). He had NO cities, searched for him for ages, he eventually rebuilt his capital, so I slaughtered him.

Potato, You should look at selling hero items to your allies if you need a quick infusion of cash / mana. The amount you can get form even starting equipment can really help

I've found the most broken thing in the game: You make ur units celestial (immune to control loss) then cast Awaken Instincts (regain ur action with all of ur units and go berserk) but obviously they dont go berserk cause of celestial but regain all action points. So technically u act TWICE with every units every turn. With glass cannon archers I just obliterate anything without losing 1 hp every battle

I bought this game last week and I’ve been hooked on it. You make it seem so easy. I struggle the first and second play . I ended surrendering both times cuz is a lot to absorbed. I’m starting to get it a little bit more but I still struggle. I guess one of my biggest issues is knowing what resource to produce first before expanding my territory. So when I expand a lot it makes difficult to produce units so I tend to get outmatched by the other npc. Other than that I’m liking it I’m starting to get it a little bit more but managing your resources is hard.

In one of my games I really learned to appreciate a crossbow hero with Violent Momentum because a crossbow only shoots once making it a lot stronger than a bow in the same situation. Same goes for a staff versus a mage or and a hammer versus a sword.

this guy made a video of him destroying 18 endgame units with only his leader on turn 1. THAT'S mastering the game. The most OP way to play is to SOLO with heroes. It can be done, on brutal difficulty no less. I had a game where I cast Age of Chaos and defended my chaos nodes with 1 hero each. I used avatar of chaos to summon my ruler and stomped multiple waves of enemies with an army of 1. (dude went from level 12 to level 20 in 1 turn!)

I believe you can take a vassals land if it borders on your city by clicking on the territory and then clicking on the circle thing to change the improvement

In earlier Age of Wonders games web did no damage, was melee range, and was a single target ability. And it was still broken.

if you want to inflict some pain on yourself like I did the other day: Megacities, Respawning Infestations, and the three brother/prince/lord scenario... it was brutal, hectic... and so elating when I (eventually) won. But Jeeeez was it a slog dealing with 2 massive wars, while having continuous infestation attacks which disable YOUR ONE AND ONLY CITY, so the lords are always out producing you economy-wise.. It felt so good when I kicked their asses hahaah

Being super into CK3 after I beat the campaign and some created maps and factions I immediately jumped into the mods. There aren’t a lot but there is in fact an Arachnids Tome that I tried out.

It's a little broken how good the spider archers are right now, but god is it fun to play with.

You can build an outpost and take the ancient wonder off of your vassal with a military unit

You took your melee hero and turned him back into a range hero because you got a good bow.

Joy syphoning is also the way I play league of legends. I believe there is a set amount of joy in any given game and the objective is to take that joy from the enemy

This has been my favorite build, so much fun to play. Have you had any success with a necromancy build? Feels like there should be a way to make skeletons work.

The vassals provide you imperium with supreme vassalge, so you will get all the bonuses from wonders under vassals.

Btw are vassals able to teleport? cuz on my play against Artica. I was controlling a 2nd player and I made him into a vassal but I couldn’t teleport to my main character even-though I unlock the teleports for both characters. My vassal was underground but I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t teleport to my main character.
