Noice review, good stuff So first thing first, you obviously have some sort of weird knack for these types of games. I've been watching twitch streamers lets play this game for over 4 months and not a single one of them was even close to beating it 5 hours on brütal. Most of them played either gentle or normal and took 7 hours or more with most around 8-9 hours. So... good job. About the tainted coil taking over the mainland and another weird story stuff. What happened to this game in the development cycle was just unfortunate. They went from creating a 2 game series that would encompass a whole thought-out story, to a rushed mess that flies by way too quickly once you get into the thick of it. (Explains why you power through the second island so fast and why you instantly fight Doviculus right after Ophelia.) From what is around and what people say, the original story was in 3 parts. Part one where you grow your army on the mainland and kill lyonwhyte. (This made it to the game) Then in part two, you would destroy the Drowning doom faction and travel to a 3rd island where you meet a 4th faction called the "Motorfreaks" and you would team up with the motorfreaks and the now weakened drowning doom for the final section. This game's final 3rd part was planned to be a siege back to the mainland to regain your home territory from the tainted coil and push into the tainted coil land and save the world, etc. Obviously, this is not the game we got. Instead, the game remains to be a confusing time-traveling collage of cool ideas and the tainted coil faction is never properly introduced with the final battle being the only time you verse troops higher than tier 1. Also in the game files, there are remains of a drowning doom NPC that you would interact with that was not Ophelia. This makes me think that the call to make Ophelia the leader of the drowning doom was not their original plan. This is further shown with the principle concept art for the game. There is an art that shows Eddie and Ophelia both fighting a tree back which would NOT make sense in the current game. Btw idk, plans can change. I'm assuming the cut development and radical change of story points were caused by the conflict that occurred with double fine and EA during this time. Even when the game first came out we were told of the possibilities of story DLC's but all we got were 2 multiplayer ones. Even with these flaws, this game I believe is still one of the top-selling games for double fine Studio. So, I guess they did something right. P.S. It still frustrated me to this say that Ophelia not telling you stuff for literally no reason is the cause of all conflict but... whatever. As for the multiplayer, You can get 4v4 games going but not by yourself with 7 other bots. You can only either play with 8 people or you can play with 4 players and verse 4 bots. And yeah the multiplayer games are fast-paced with the longest of games only going to be up to 15 minutes. Also, the WR for Brutal AI is 1:49 which is just ridiculous that a game can go by that quickly for it being Strategy. Recently Microsoft has acquired Doublefine studios, so I hope that this game will get some love it desperately needs. The addition of BL on the game pass has definitely helped more people discover this game but I hope that double fine can get their plans done without any of the hassles that this game went through during development. Overall great review, fun to watch!

Despite that everything in this review is 100% accurate but this is still one of my favourites of all time.

Brutal legend is, was and always be one of my favourite games of all time. As stupid as the game was it holds a very important place in my heart. I still hope for a sequel as I have for many years but a remaster or a reimagined version would be just as welcome.

I don't think blending genres is a bad thing. This was my intraduction into rts games and I don't think I would have liked it if it was solely rts but it was a cool addition. I really enjoyed the game.

All those glitches are in the pc version only. I've played the console version multiple times, and haven't run into any of them.

I loved the game but the rts elements could have been toned down a bit with more hack and slash focused missions. There was definately a solid concept. A reimagined version with a good bit of work it could be something today

In brutal legend, Eddie's mother went to the past, not the future. Armagodden ended the ancient world, when it showed up upon Eddie's death at the beginning if the game.

This game is one of my all time favorites. At first I didn't really understand Ophelia's perspective, or why she was keeping the Succoria thing a secret. But doing some thinking i think I can understand why now. Ophelia was being outcasted by Lita and was struggling earning the trust from others. The only people that really seemed to have accepted her before Eddie was the razor girls she saved and Lars. And as we see from Lita, she would hands down attempt to kill or turn on her the instant she felt she couldn't trust her completely. So in Eddie's case, what would happen if Lita, Lars, and the entire army found out Eddie was the son of the empress that was trying to wipe out and enslave the human race? Especially with the prophecy stating that he was possibly sent to destroy them; and that he was a potential spy that Succoria sent in the past..... yeah none of it would look good on Eddie's part. In fact the entire army would probably turn on him and kill him immediately. So that's what she meant by "I was trying to protect you.". It's her own response to understanding what it's like to be untrusted and turned against in an instant, because of what you are. And knowing Eddie, I think she felt that if she told Eddie the truth about himself, he would do the right thing and tell Lars and the army.....and they'd abandon trust in him.

I think a lot of the clipping, jittering, and odd de-syncing that's been happening seems to be an issue with the PC port. I've never had these problems when playing the PS3 version, then or now. Just, thought I'd throw that out there.
