With Storm Agnes fast approaching the west of the UK, I packed my rucksack and drove overnight into Snowdonia, made my up the long Watkin Path and setup camp on a ridgeline.
This is my story of a brutal solo wild camp and a delightful trek up the summit in gale-force winds.
I was so tired the following morning but it was worth the effort and I'll definitely camp in another storm again.

Now these are what i call the best tent videos. The ultimate test if a tent.Seeing how a particular tent copes under the worse weathers, definitely gives one peace of mind for future reference. I use to have that Phox tent, but im 60 now ,a former infantry soldier with many aches pains fr my sins . So i got the taller oex Bobcat instead. Bigger entrance, and large vestibule to sit up,store kit,and cook no matter the weather. Used it on my old stomping ground doing the "fan dance" (pen y fan) and it stood up to everything the weather threw at it. Great videos mate.. 👍

I spent about half an hour just off the summit, watching the clouds whizzing along, it was quite a sight.

I have zero experience but wonder why the experience campers evacuate a failed tent rather than make do what is left?

Agreed.As a former infantry soldier I believe One would be in more danger wandering outside in severe weather conditions, especially at night, rather than staying put in a broken tent making do the best one can.

Are you sure the winds are high as you think? Been in 90mph forecast winds in a 1 man tent, the Hillebrg Akto,, the noise the tent makes is deafening the fabric flaps like crazy.

I have no idea what the actual speeds were where I pitched the tent shielded by that ridge lower down the mountain. I only knew the forecast at the summit.

Just for the record, near the summit the Watkin Path meets the Rhyd Ddu path NOT the South Ridge.

Totally irresponsible to go up Snowdon with an incoming storm, the most experienced of us can have an accident then risk the wellbeing of Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team and costs entailed. All for a video. Your a mature adult not a tiktok teenager please think before doing this type wild camp again

@@mrdelaney4440 Pray tell me why would Snowdon have mountain rescue if it wasn't dangerous, they are called out regularly. I've been up there numerous times. Snowdon averages 8 deaths a year would you like to delete your immature statement.
