I would disagree about vegan animals not being aware, if they had no fear, emotions or anything, or not fear death, why would they run from predators? Humans have thousands of words for expressions, thoughts etc animals have a lot less than us, does not mean they are not compassionate and don't have feelings or awareness, we may not understand them the way we understand ourselves, but they all have hearts, blood, brains etc etc and breathe the same air as us through their lungs. Some of these places are cruel to some of the animals, no animal deserves to be ill treated and as for dogs that kill children, that is terrible and they have to be put down, but lets not forget the people who have owned, often trained them to be vicious rather than mans best friend :-(
