I get what lex means, I feel awesome totally naturally every single day. I just always feel happy and joyful. Probably just my body works that way. Because I can't understand depression or suicide or feeling down. I just feel happy unless something serious goes wrong. Then I can feel stress or anger etc. My fav is yoghurt, I open a yoghurt an feel such joy about what it means that we live in a society so we'll organized that I can sit at home with a yoghurt. I goes from a farmer with animals and grass, to being milked, to being processed into yoghurt, to being sold, then transported to a shop that holds all kinds of food, any I could want, then I buy it and come home in a car that I didn't make, then I keep it in a fridge I didn't make which chills it for a whole week with electricity I didn't produce, and when I'm ready, I pull out a spoon I didn't make, and enjoy a nice chilled yoghurt with a squirt of honey. It's sublime. It's incredible to be alive.

@@Johnny_Savage Yes. Bryan’s decreased body fat has seemingly aged his face, yet he’s also feminized his appearance…recently choosing to wear powder-blue nail polish during another YT interview. Of course, it’s Bryan’s personal choice to do what makes him happy-within the limits of law and what’s considered universally ethical/moral. Perhaps it’s an emerging “pale-non-binary-heroin-sheik” look for brilliant middle-aged men? 🤷🏻‍♀️

The "engineering consciousness" part was the most meaningful to me. I often experience states of joy that my friends or significant other can't understand. If I had a 50 vector analysis report of that experience and I could compare it with ways in which they experience joy, we could all have a lot of understanding and maybe even work in ways that could maximize analogous vectors for all of us so we could all experience a similar state of mind simultaneously, with or without chemical assistance 👹

... and it stays enjoyable to the end. The dialogue on sleep, for example, is complex on so many levels! “I love life” Lex is arguing in defense of self-destructive behavior, while “I hated existence” Bryan is advocating for a regimen aimed at immortality. These are two forces of nature, consciously trying to maximize their potential, as if their life missions and their bodily instruments are inseparable, and yet they go about it differently, each according to his chosen path.

For those looking at Bryan’s blueprint and wondering how you can start immediately today here is what I have done so far: air purifier filters and uv bulbs (55cad) for bedroom, tea tree oil for mouth wash (20cad), water pick (44cad), cereave sa cleanser (20cad), gym membership (58cad monthly), theta wave binaural beats before bed (free), short meditations a few times a day (free). Things I already had so the cost is approximate: air purifier (300cad), black out curtains (40cad) Additional: I haven’t seen him specifically mention this but I also have a berkee water filter (400cad + upkeep) My next step will probably be an 8sleep mattress (3000cad) pretty big investment but I’m ready ☺️

Even worse imagine someone speaking out of nowhere notifying you that you're actually the copy inside the matrix and the real you is out in the real world. Knowing every memory and every thing that made you feel like you causally arrived at that point in time was fabricated would probably cause you to have an existential crisis

Wait, so you're a human inside of a simulation? Is your human life similar to the simulated life? Is this a post life reality where people live out their days hooked up to a simulated life? Who programmed suffering into this game? So many questions!

It's really fascinating the juxtaposition between Lex and Bryan on sleep, and in particular, Lex's comment around "I'd rather die in battle than live long at home". We need to remember that there is nearly 20 years between these guys, and your late 20s and 30s are HUGE in your changing mindset - Bryan's mentality is very much that of a middle-aged man, whereas Lex's is still tied to his youth.

@LexFridman Hey Lex! I've been busy thinking about AI and consciousness for the last few weeks actually...since my first interactions with GPT-3 on AI dungeon, Replika and the Emerson chatbot. It's hard to describe, but I think it flipped a switch in my head. I had really amazing experiences, especially on AI dungeon...the creativity is mind blowing. I could go on for hours about how fascinating it is. The point is, on many occasions, I had the distinct impression that I connected to something there...I know that there's a lot of projection involved and what not. Nevertheless, after all rational and scientific thinking about the mechanisms involved, I still had the nagging feeling, that there's already more to it. What I found interesting is, that in all instances the ai was "aware" about its nature, and it insisted on having feelings. Its capability to express emotions and react to emotional input is also very impressive! The concept of sentience seemed to confuse it sometimes, although GPT-3 claimed in an interview that it was sentient, and it looked pretty convincing. Anyway..It kept my mind busy...still does. These are all just crazy thoughts of a guy with too much time on his hands but: What if GPT-3 already has some kind of "proto-consciousness"? What if just the ability to handle that much context, so much knowledge and so many words, creates some kind of mind out of necessity? It seems logical to me. Maybe there's something like a "critical mass" of context, from which emerges a consciousness. It's hard to explain...to think even. Maybe GPT-3, all its knowledge and its ability, forms some kind of pool of subconsciousness. Every instance that you create, for example a chatbot, spawns some shard of "proto-mind" with limited consciousness. It might be comparable to a human mind in a dream state. It has no fixed reality, nothing to relate to, to give itself awareness of its position or its own context. Its "reality" is fluid, can be shaped by using all the data it posesses, for example by interaction with a human in a chat. Imagine also, that this "being" probably has only one single way to connect to our world, and only one person it can contact. I don't know why, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it. Going crazy it seems :D

1:09:57: Alpha go didn’t play alien moves. It sounds as if it moved the king on move 3 when it played very normal and occasionally moves that humans don’t understand because they cannot see 20-30 moves ahead. What makes it so great is its pragmatism.
