Bryan Saint fools Penn & Teller a second time with a green folder and a Rubik’s cube! Penn & Teller: Fool Us
Returning to Penn & Teller: Fool Us (S10, E6), Charlotte NC based magician Bryan Saint takes a green folder and a Rubik’s cube and shows a trick that can only be done on TV. He then becomes one of the few magicians in 10 seasons to fool Penn & Teller more than once. In Penn’s own words, “We just cannot figure out how you did it!”
Bryan originally fooled Penn & Teller with take on a classic rope routine using a phone charger. You can see that video here:

I love they give the magician rights to post their segments on personal KZfaq accounts it just shows the good hearts Penn and teller have not monetizing everything so they can benefit. I hated Howard stern was asking Penn why he did cameos and he was like I just like to be involved with my fans and it’s one way I can.

Bryan uses a black hole sticker, kind of like in Looney Tunes cartoons. This opens a portal to an alternate dimension and he can just pull cubes in and out accordingly. Once done, sticker removed and torn up in the folder. You can call the Acme Company to order all this.

I saw it coming since he kept saying he wasn’t switching and I truly believe he was being honest about that. But knowing what the end was going to be completely mind fucked me when he showed what appears to be 3 Cubes at once. I knew he had two and I figured he would eventually ditch one and just be left with the last one but then after showing 3 he shows a green cube and I’m like fuck…so well done. They are obviously gimmicked in some way and probably some sleight of hand but overall bravo. I don’t even want to know how it’s done. It was perfect. I was soooo engaged the whole time.

@@orlandorodriguez7235Yeah they were gimmick cubes that folded and he was putting them in his jacket when he moved by the green folder. I have never been a fan of “magic acts” that are completely dependent on gimmicks that can be bought off the shelf. Also when your sleight of hand is sloppy enough that it is obvious to someone like me.

@@Ceramic_disclol and the three cubes he had in his hand? The green cube? The disappearing cubes?
@lpr5269
@lpr5269 3 ай бұрын
It was interesting that the first time he just put the unsolved real cube behind the folder and then grabbed the shell with 5 sides, so it's pretty obvious how he did it. But that was just misdirection. He then started solving the real cube with one hand behind the folder over and over. Then he shows the 3 cubes at the same time and then the green cube later. So we are really confused at this point. So now we're thinking OK there are 4 cubes and then at the end there is only 1 cube. The only thing that is kind of suspicious if you really looked was at the end, the table and the folder start vibrating caused by him collapsing the shells of the cubes flat but you really can't see anything when he removes the folder because I imagine both the table and the flattened cubes are all a really dark black which is hard for the human eye to differentiate.

@@Mitch_Feral three - he shows the same 3 sides of the cube each time, but his hand movements are so fluid the angle he shows makes it seem like he's rotating it, when he's not. this is likely one of the "normal" 3 cubes he pulls out at the other point of the trick, but showing the opposite 3 sides with "scrambled" stickers. it means he has one less cube to handle while adding a really nice element of "wtf" to the trick Edit: 4:37 - cube '3' he never shows more than 3 sides - likely the back of that one has the green squares

Absurd. Slow the video down and you can count more than 3 colors. In fact I think he is exposing more than three faces purposely to disprove your theory. Besides, he mixes up the solved cube. Magicians want you to solve the trick with the wrong answer, which you did. I find Fool Us comments are full of absolutely silly explanations like this one.
@lubrew5862
@lubrew5862 11 күн бұрын
@@aro3275There is only one cube he is manipulating and it is a self solving cube. That is why you can always hear it hit the table when he sets it down, it resets to cube to solved. The other two cubes are folding and he places them in the table near the end when you see the folder shake.

As someone who can actually solve a cube in less than a minute. The quick 1 handed solve is a easy thing most people don't understand. but where did the other cubes go? Im thinking when he pulled out the 2 extra cubes, they're paper, or collapsible cubes that don't actually turn. Because there are some suspicious bumps to the table. The rest of the motions are him solving and scrabbling the same physicals cube.
@jellygoo
@jellygoo 4 ай бұрын
Would also be my guess. It all goes from the moment he showed the 3 cubes at the same time (+ the green one). He makes 3 hand movements (for the 3 fakes) that seem to go deeper to the level of the table to stash them away. Which is also why he always made sure to make very obvious bumps and switches before, just slightly different.
@piderman871
@piderman871 4 ай бұрын
Yeah he's "scrambling" the cubes but it's probably a moveset to get it to be 4 or so moves away from being solved. It'll look pretty scrambled by that point. Also he never rotates the green cube so it'll be a fake.
@guy3717
@guy3717 4 ай бұрын
Im pretty sure hes clacking the big ring hes wearing on the table when he puts down the fake cubes. Its also more obvious when he has the green cube in his hand since he presents it for much longer and without movement, hes careful not to make it appear like it has no weight and never turns it.
@DominicDorian

I wondering why he was using a green folder specifically instead of just a paper. If the other cubes are paper fakes, he could hide them in the green folder. So when he rips up the folder he's essentially getting rid of the evidence of the trick.

yes, i think exactly the same as penn and teller, it was a beautifully script and buiult act, i trully enjoyed every second of it and i am normally not a fan of rubics cube act. that was a killer routine and you deserve that trophy big time. good Job!!!!!

WOW!! A second FU trophy! As an electrical engineer, I can think of two ways that you did your first trick. This one, my degree doesn't help a bit. Great routine, thoroughly entertaining and truly mystifying!

The sleight of hand was pretty dang sweet. And the one-hand solve behind the jacket; very smooth, and a nice added touch. :)

Due to the way he's mic'd you can hear the cube turn on that one. You can also hear a high click when he says "NOW" so clearly something important prop-related happens at that moment.

@@sordel5866 He's just legitimately solving the cube one handed. There's tons of videos on youtube of people doing it under 10 seconds.

@@sordel5866 he also has collapsible cubes im guessing that he stuffed into the pocket of the folder at the end thats how he got the green and managed to switch from solved to unsolved the whole time. i think he solved the one real one and mixed it back up several times throughout the act while using the dummys as decoys. but im no magician so who knows. he could be gandalf for all i know

Great act! At 40 years old, I taught myself how to solve a Rubik's Cube and also taught my teenage son. We both have speed cubes for fun now. I think I know the method, but that is because I watch a lot of Cubers on KZfaq.

when I saw the first cube and saw the aligned blocks I thought: ya well only few movements to solve that one, and with training also doable in less than a second in one hand. What I don't understand is how theres multiple cubes and then only oine :D well done and kudos for not making noise while solving them one-handed

I came to the decision that this is my favorite performance on Fool Us, and then Penn even said it was the best patter he's seen. Bravo. I don't think I've ever laughed that much during a trick. The thought of Bryan just having a plethora of cubes in his clothes cracked me up.

impressive trick, very impressive "sleight of cube", every cube he held has the same pattern though, he disguises it by using the different colors but look for a face with a 2x2 of 1 color, on top is a 2x1 of another color, next to it another 2x1 and in the corner a single color with some practice this would make the cube in an easy state for a 1 hand solve since it only needs 2 rotations

It's obvious he's speed solving cubes at various points, what isn't clear is how he managed to hide at least two out of three cubes during the performance. It can't be shells, since we see every cube being turned at some point, and shells obviously can't turn.
