Sort of off topic of the video but what are your thoughts on the online self paced accounting programs such as the one Western Governors University offers? Seriously considering finishing my degree with them as I could continue working full time and finish within 6 months for a fraction of the cost. Are those degrees respected in the accounting landscape? How difficult would it be to land that first job in accounting with no experience in the field and just a bachelors? Thanks for all the great accounting content and for shedding light for some of us hoping to get started.

I’m in fed accounting and want out. Made a career switch so I feel too old for public. Do you have thoughts on how to make the best transition without a huge pay cut? I’ve looked at rotation programs since I’m getting a masters in accounting right now

Is it a red flag for a public accounting internship at a larger firm to be taking place specifically during busy season? Really value your opinion and I wonder if this would be an intense but worth it experience for a student, or if maybe the firm is just looking to take advantage of someone who doesn’t really know better

not a red flag most have internships during busy season. It will be intense but you will learn a ton.

I’ll be honest, I wish I had an opportunity to work in public accounting. At least I’ll have my CPA license by now, and have more variety of experience than what I have now…

@@BryanCarretoCPA Pivoting from what I do now (working in the government sector). I don’t know if somebody in their late 30s like me would fit in with the college graduates…

@@jamid87 I was just thinking of going to get a masters in accounting (coming from economics degree) or getting an accounting certificate to get to 150 credits. I'm 44 FYI. I thought about the whole fitting in thing as well when I decided to go back later in life to finish school. But I don't think the younger kids really care honestly, they are so worried about their own lives. If you start now you'll be 40-42 by the time you're a full CPA. Something I would tell my younger self. Just my two cents.
