I reckon if an American veteran from the South heard this song, he'd feel like a proud man in rural America. Any dishonorable person thinks this song is bad is either a soft city boy or a Yankee who believes in taking our guns. I probably won't sing the f word, but I won't tell anyone to not say it. Born and raised in Southern California but my Mom and grandparents were rice farmers from the Philippines. They embraced the American Dream and always reminded me growing up how lucky I am to be an American. They taught me country sensibility and when I visit the region where my grandparents are from I'm proud to say the rice farm is still in the family. I feel this in the Midwest. some day maybe folks will realize where you're from doesn't actually matter. what does is what you stand for and what you're willing to do when shit hits the fan. being fortunate enough to have traveled most of the country, I can promise you this sentiment is alive and well with the vast majority of people anywhere you go. the only real differences in most of us are the food we eat, the slang we use and the accents we have. maybe someday we'll stop being petty and actually come together. "I'm from here so I'm better than you".. "we do this here" or "we don't do that here".. when WE the people stop separating ourselves and dividing each other, only then will we become an unstoppable force. THAT is when the people who wanna take everything from us will fuck around and find out...
