Seems like F-Zero 99 would be the perfect opportunity to bring back these tracks and machines. Nintendo needs to make it happen!

@@shadownite3378 They've already added all courses. I think the BS courses are just leftovers from these games or something.

@@Moonlow.Actually they did remove one of the forest courses but in turn added another (a remix of death wind) and they did not remove any other course. It seems like they have plans for these tracks.

It's natural for people to ask that these 'lost' tracks are added to F-Zero 99. But I think what it would even better is if the team in charge reused the tilesets / backgrounds to create completely new 'Forest' and 'Metal Fort' tracks that are more complex and challenging that is shown here.

I agree. They don't look as good as the original ones, but have nice ideas which could be improved. I just hope we got more tracks, but getting a new update tomorrow is a good sign, they'll continue supporting the game.

Imagine if, in addition to the Ace League, we got two other DLC leagues ending with brand-new Forest (maybe renamed "Devil's Forest" like F-Zero X, since "Forest" is a really bland name) and Metal Fort tracks that put Fire Field to shame!

Judging by a set of unused tilesets in the game's data, it seems like that was the original plan, especially with Forest, but I guess they wanted it to be more faithful to the vanilla game by adding only the original 15 tracks... Well, as vanilla as a Frozen Knight League and a set of 4 pseudoglitched, secret tracks get, anyway...

Looks like we now have material for a new league for F-Zero Final! We have the Knight, Queen, and King leagues from the original F-Zero, we have the Ace League with the new tracks from BS F-Zero Grand Prix (plus Mute City 4 from BS F-Zero GP 2 week 2), and now that the Forest and Metal Fort tracks are known, somebody needs to make a "Joker League" with these tracks to make the classic F-Zero truly complete. Joker League: 1. Forest 1 2. Metal Fort 1 3. Forest 2 4. Metal Fort 2 5. Forest 3

@@MetalSmasherGaming Honestly, if they were to make an Ace and Joker Leagues, the order of tracks ought to be similar to how they were in the broadcast. Ace: Forest I Big Blue II Sand Storm I Forest II Silence II Joker: Mute City IV Forest III Sand Storm II Metal Fort I Metal Fort II But even then, those Soundlink games haven't been uploaded online for the public, so I'd hold on until we actually get said games online.

28 years later and it just hit me: if you're driving a hovercraft, why would it make any difference in friction if you were driving over ice?

The cars do float above ground but they're definitely not plain old hovercrafts. They use some advanced anti-gravity technology, the g-diffuser system, also used by the arwings in Star Fox, but a weaker version that only alows them to drift slightly above ground and is somehow affected by the terrain.

As indicated in page 20 of the american instruction manual of F-zero 1 on SNES, it is not ice, but a "magnetic field bock coat" that "blocks your machine's magnetic grip on the track" (see: www.nintendo.co.jp/clvs/manuals/common/pdf/CLV-P-SAABE.pdf)

@@Boooo No. It just says "Rough: There are many types of Rough that will deprive your machine of its speed and interfere with its handling..." which is not really helpful to know how it works.

my guess is that rough surfaces make the machines rapidly loose speed by overloading the g-diffusers by maximzing surface area and creating drag

I want to play theses tracks so much too, I want to play the full FZFinal with the "Joker League" with theses tracks, etc. BUT! Let's be honest: the level design of these levels, Strong Metal I/II, Forest I/II/III doesn't look extremely incredible and innovative either. The circuits are composed of very wide roads, there are long boring straights in some places and they look overall undemanding and not very very original. Here is my interpretation: these levels are not very demanding because the players didn't have time to play very long on them (on Satellaview, they had sometimes only one week to play a game, sometimes several times but it remains very little). So these are nice levels to play for their new visual and sound ambience, but they really don't seem to revolutionize the F-Zero SNES level design... (I'm not saying this at all because I'm making a hack for F-Zero trying to reach the quality of the original game ^^ but really to be honest in terms of the supposed quality of these "ghost" levels. Be sure that I would like to be among the first to play the hack that will surely be made one day and that will reproduce identically these extremely collector levels !!! :D)
