Thank you, the BSA / Villiers do have that quite unusual type breather, but all engines do have some kind of breather. Yes luckily it started well. Thanks for watching.

In my opinion.. it's the vintage rolls Royce of engines.. I know you like the Suffolk.. but this one tickover is something else

Hi Mick. Yes they really are the Best , As you say Rolls Royce ,The tickover is smoother than eating peaches and cream !!! The suffolks are good but these are the next level Thanks for your comment.

If that float decides its got a microscopic pin hole and sinks after a couple of days, Amal, Villiers or L&S Engineering stock plenty of spares for the Amal type 379.

Hi, Herby , The Float is quite battered. I think L&S bought Meetens Villiers / BSA stock There prices seem quite reasonable as well. Not many places keep parts for Villiers /BSA Anymore. Thanks for your comment.

Brilliant informative video !! One of the best I have seen! Many thanks for your time and effort!! I have a mk4A and a Mk5 (I think!) !! Although the Mk 5 has a different carb!! I may need some advice regarding this! Cheers, Colin.

Hi, Thanks for your kind words. It helps when working on real quality. Yes some of the later Villiers did have the villiers slide carburettor or the Villiers B10/1 carburettor. I can't remember if i said, the carburettor in the video was an Amal 379. Yes happy to help with advice. Thanks for watching.

It is a joy and can idle at a very low rate and stay running due to the flywheel , in fact you can start it with your foot spinning the flywheel! It is a wonderful sound, not at all busy.

Hi, Yes a lovely idle , the heavy flywheel is a perfect match to the BSA/Villiers sloper. I did here Ransomes had something to do with the design of the sloper engine for the Marquis / Auto Certes. As you say they are that good they can be started with your foot, or Hand. Thanks for your comment.
