Well I guess what he said was true he's specialized through singing and not dancing, but mind you he is way above average in terms of dancing.

An idol has to dance some way and do the choreo. He is not a dancer in the first place, he doesn’t specialize in dancing. He can’t dance compared to dancers and other idols who dance well. He can dance compared to your uncle in a wedding doesn’t make him a good dancer in the industry. So it’s not fake humbleness, he is just saying the reality. I don’t get it when fans claim an idol who can’t really dance, say they dance well. Clearly, they work very hard and have to manage to do the choreo looking good.

​@@Youknowwhathido I guess I might be the only one who thinks Chen was decent in weakly idol especially given his training time period being shortest alongside Baekhyun. I could understand the criticism for Suho and Chanyeol who on the other hand had 4-6 years of training respectively.

Yeah, I think by his statement he also meant that he doesn't know as much about dance in terms of technicality as someone who is a main dancer/dances as a passion would have for example. Like, I love watching dance and I enjoy dancing to some extent but I've never formally trained, so sometimes what looks/doesn't look impressive to me is/isn't impressive to professional dancers. So I think he had that moment here where he complimented BTOB for having acrobatic and powerful dance moves but was basically told that EXO had similar or even more difficult choreography so he was like "oh, well I don't really know what I'm talking about 😅 I just liked the choreo"

Tbh Chen was never bad at dancing. He just didn't have as much training time as other members, same as Baekhyun but both improved a lot.
