OK so this isn't a theory this is the real deal. They based the MV and the entire album (though through their own personal creative genius) on the book Demian by Herman Hesse. The quote above the mirror is Nietzsche and it means (not verbatim) one must go through chaos to give birth to a dancing star. In the book, the protagonist (in this case, Jin) Sinclair meets his teacher/guide Pistorius by hearing an organ playing in a church(Suga playing the organ). Pistorius and Sinclair discuss philosophy, and Nietzsche is mentioned. I'm sure you're curious about the statue so here's the summary. Demian tempts Sinclair into "the dark world" and at first Sinclair is very resistant until Demian sends Sinclair a letter that says "The bird flies its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Whoever wishes to be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas." Abraxas is a God of both good AND evil. So Sinclair /Jin kissing the statue is representative of him giving into temptation, or conceding to BOTH good and evil. Since V is shown with wings clipped - he could either represent Demian as the tempter or Abraxas manifest which would mean he's just another aspect of Sinclair/Jin himself - that part which desires the temptation. Bangtan has come out and confirmed this and said there are many symbolisms prevalent in the MV/album having to do with the book Demian which so closely resembled the concept they were trying to achieve. Book sales for this piece of classic literature have skyrocketed since even before the albums release because of the short films BTS released prior. (Epic genius on Rapmon's part there who said he wanted to impart that wisdom upon their fans). Other symbolisms include any time you see green, the mothers face cracking, the painting Jin stares at depicting a battle between heaven and hell, Hobi shooting the bow and arrow, V with the veil (the thin line between both worlds of good and evil) etc. In a nutshell, the concept taken is that of temptation, and deciding for oneself what is "good" and what is "evil". It would seem to me that it's also a clear message that BTS is older now and they're going to be doing more risque things in the future because they've grown into adults. (Beware fans who think they're still babies!)

Glad to see you back with your sister (love your reactions :D) - the video is based on the book Demian by Herman Hesse, which also takes in Jung and psycho analysis. (The English quotes from Rap Mon come from this book). It's about a young man who struggles between the real world (spiritual truth) and the illusion world. Sinclair (in this case Jin) is led by several mentors, including Demien (in this case V), who is a mysterious friend (and is kind of a demon) - he shows that to really understand, you have to accept that there is both good and evil and both are necessary (Abraxas) - and we have to accept both. In the end he opens up his subconcious and discovers his true self. (Nietzsche - In short, to be an artist is to face, embrace, and grapple with the dark things in life and the evils of the world.) In the book Sinclair is often confused and needs validation from older "mentor" figures. There's a whole lot of symbolism here - including using the paintings The Fall of the Rebel Angels that captivates Jin, The Lament for Icarus in the shots of Jungkook on a swing, and Landscape with the Fall of Icarus in front of the balcony that V jumps from. I'm sure you can find more detailed explanation about what exactly each scene and member represents, but this is a basic (though long and complicated) idea about what BTS is going for (and which they have talked about as their philosophy behind the entire album).
