If you’re tired of explaining it to people then just don’t reply. 2) while that may be the textbook definition, it’s not exactly true because you could easily call a band that uses instruments a group too. 3) BTS have referred to themselves as a boy band before and the public has always called groups like the Beatles and one direction boy bands too. It’s really not that big of a deal, does it make a difference whether we call them a group or a band as long as it’s not in a patronising way?

They've been doing their "typical" stuff for 7-8 years with minimal radio play in the US and no Grammy nom. I consider their English songs the BTS gateway drug. They're still good IMO, but barely scratches the surface. And hopefully it draws people into them to dig deeper. I'm thankful for their English singles bc it's great to hear them on commercials and the radio. It makes me happy, and I happen to like the songs too. But I think it's a little unfair to make it seem as if a few poppy songs will overshadow their 250+ song discography. I mean they released a whole Korean album (with the exception of Dynamite), and Japanese singles, in between their English singles. And what if they want to have a poppy sound? Many of the members enjoy pop music. Even Suga says he has more fun producing pop than hip hop, and that he can't rap the way he used to. Both he and RM have been more vocal about wanting to explore singing. Pop is not inherently bad. I don't think being considered a pop group is bad. If people are curious, they will see that they are more than that. But the simple fact is, their old stuff wasn't getting the play it needed to reach a wider audience (or at least a sector). Maybe it's bc I am a newer fan, but I think older fans need to let go of the "BTS is hip hop, not pop, this that and the other" narrative. From the year I've known of these young men, they seem to have grown from being told concepts and directions they should take, into doing what they want to do. I remember being surprised that a lot of fans were not into their BE album bc "iT wAs DiFfErEnT" from the "BTS they thought they knew". When ironically it seemed it was the album they most had their foot in...so possibly the most "BTS" album so far. I guess it's hard to accept that your tastes may no longer align with the taste of your favorite musicians. But I say just enjoy the ride wherever they go. At the end of the day they have proven themselves already and at this point in their career it shouldn't matter what image others have of them. Only that they are finally in a position to feel free to do what they want to do, whether it loses or gains them fans.

@@lilyoongi146 "Pop" seems even like a defunct term for me. It is better to use dance, electro, funk, jazz, synth, etc. It could just mean any genre that that is not hip-hop or rock, or any genre that requires singing which is absurd.

Today is Bts 8th year anniversary June 13, 2013. They have a started from the bottom story. Bts has three rappers and four vocalist. Each member has their own solo projects, the rappers even have mixtapes which they release for free. They write and produce their own music, with the help of their in house producers in their company.

To "love" a song, its common sense to rate a value at least a 4.5 out of 5 rating. 80% (a 4 out of 5 rating) is only considered average in the international ranking system of basic math and statistics. To further simplify it for you, that is why/how I called bullsh*t on the guy that rated it a 3 out of 5 score. What's even more baffling is that you could see that he was vibing with the song....Yet, still score it a 3 out of 5? Its almost as if this guy rated the song that low because he wanted to "keep" an image. Or maybe he has prejudice against BTS' music. Who knows. But, his explanation didn't sound genuine or honest. I wouldn't of even commented if the guy was actually honest about why he didn't like the song. Its okay NOT to like a BTS song. But, his explanation for his rating made no sense.
