Unfortunately this video is just the tip of an iceberg...The vitriol that ARMY and BTS have been subjected to year after year is unbelievable. At one point, if you were an ARMY in South Korean, you had to hide it. Bullies who were fans of other groups were harassing and even physically attacking ARMYs. (2015,16,17) They would also get an ARMY's personal information and release it online encouraging others to harrass them. It was so sad. There was nothing we as international ARMY could do other than just calling out the behaviour online. Because BTS were treated so badly, we ARMY determined that we would make them so successful that no one would be able to treat them that way again....and we have..and they still get tons of crap but at least they are successful enough now that they don't have to subject themselves to it. I was part of a team that organized accounts in the US to request BTS to be played on the radio starting back in 2017. You would not even believe the shit DJs and radio programmers, station managers, etc said to us. You have no idea what ARMY has put themselves through in an attempt to protect BTS. However, I want to say that that is absolutely no excuse for any person calling themselves and ARMY to attack, put down, bully, etc another human being. That is the opposite of what we as ARMY try to do. We try to spread love and positivity just like BTS. In fact, anyone who does those kinds of hurtful things may call themselves an ARMY but no one else does. There is a saying in the fandom that ARMY are the face of BTS. Everything we do is reflected back on them whether it is good or bad. Therefore, we try to make sure that we always show a good face to the world. However, when you have somewhere between 40 and 90 million fans from every country in the world, there are going to be bad apples. There is no avoiding it. It is just statistics. However, I would like to think that the overwhelming majority are good apples. If you would like to watch some more informative type videos about subjects involving BTS, check out a KZfaq channel called Boracity Magazine. They make great video essays. Thanks again.

i agree, we have a positive majority that's genuinely trying their best😅 its harder to rally people around to a code of conduct especially in the later years 2019-20-21 when the fandom just multiplied exponentially. It was easier when the fandom increased gradually early on😂 no but i agree, its REALLY hard being an ARMY online. I have been in reporting GCs since 2018 and in reporting communities now and let's just say the vile edits and shit ppl say have traumatised me for life🫤 but I like the guys too much to stay away and am too proactive to just sit and not help clear the trash where I can esp cos the boys were active on twt in case the boys end up seeing that bs and spiral 🫤 i think it'll settle down eventually tho, its also been a tumultuous couple of years. also I feel like boracity is more.....core fandom ARMY content and not exactly what id recommend at newbie stage ykwim

That is very true , you did not mention the fact that some other idol’s fans pretend to be ARMY in the comments sections of reactors to make trouble and make everyone believe that ARMY is full of low life people who love to fight. It is of course the complete opposite, any ARMY who is not kind and humble like BTS Is not true ARMY.

Maybe part of why Army and BTS are so huge is exactly because we don't waste our time with this type of bs 🤦🤷

@@v.vlenmf05 Yes, this is an important point. Other groups' fans are STILL doing this on a daily basis - accusing BTS/ARMY of all kinds of crazy stuff, and NOW they are trying to whitewash what happened back in those early years - what the other fandoms did. When both the new book and the Disney documentary were released, there were people in those very same fandoms saying it was all made up and the label was lying and more. ARMY is known for "keeping receipts" so that those fandoms can't legitimately deny they never did any of this.

That's why army is so protective. Even now that they all are in military service, everyday the haters are coming up with a new stuff to accuse bts of crimes and terrible things. Like today was the grammys and the antis were mocking their lost in the past years. The song that did win the award is not important for them as dynamite is, because they are always talking about it. It's our everyday lives and army is really tired, but we stay because of our love for the boys. They are so special and don't deserve all this bullshit. But at the end of the day we are all bulletproof.

Justin is right that BTS probably wouldn't have received that much hate if they came from a big 3 company. I can say this with confidence because the basis for the sajaegi accusations directed at BTS was that they were from a small company. Fans of big 3 artists - namely exo, BigBang and GOT7 - tweeted that a group from a no name company cannot possibly sell more records than their favorite artists from the big 3. Because back then those groups were the top groups. And the media blew up these fan wars by publishing articles about it. All because BTS were easy targets. The big 3 companies had ties to the media companies, so their artists were indeed protected better than BTS. BTS and Big Hit couldn't control the media narrative and the hate was getting to be too much, so they had to go to court to prove that they didn't commit sajaegi. Also the plagiarism accusations are quite silly. Hair colour, uniforms, styling etc? They were not serious things at all. But the media (like the interview with Shindong) focused on those things because, once again, BTS were easy targets. We have seen this in variety shows as well. They were treated horribly by some variety show hosts, publicly embarrassing and insulting them. The same hosts treated big 3 artists with respect. So it's not a stretch to say that their lack of clout was a big factor in them getting hate. Of course this applies only to SK. The American entertainment industry is a whole another can of worms.

Even though the guys are in the military now it still hasn't stopped... people from other fanbases continually complain about BTS breaking records and winning awards even when they're not there.... well that's the power of a fanbase that trusts and supports them ... and always will.... Army stream / purchase their music and keep them in the charts ... One thing you will never hear or see is a member of BTS putting another artist, or person down. They see the negative comments and articles but only ever post positive ones... That's the kind of artist Army want to support.... BTS lead by example...

It's such a sad thing that BTS faced all of this **** since day 1 and it NEVER stops, the death threats, stupid rumors and narratives, are things that people usually likes to hold on in social media to hurt them, to sabotage their debut solo albums, to create more and more hate towards them. As an ARMY this has been such a beautiful, but hard journey, because people hate on them and hate on us SO MUCH, they are attacked from every damn place... Their book "BTS: Beyond The Story" really show us how hurt they feel about all this negative in those years, like a mountain over a mountain, their words and honesty in the book is heartbreaking, they didn't deserve any of that. I'm sure you're understanding their journey, thank you for the content and good comentary💜

26:55 as someone who has followed kpop since the 90s, yes, the Big 3 has a lot of power inside and outside of music. They have influence over journalism, broadcast companies, and so on. They've been around for so long and worked behind the scenes to gain all that power. And anyone who tries to go against them, can get blacklisted. I remember that when dbsk broke up and three members tried to sue their company, they were blacklisted from a lot of music-related avenues, making it hard for them to continue their music careers.

obviously other groups from bigger companies are not exempt from being subjected to hate bc fame comes with a price unfortunately and there are bound to be people out there who would attack and spread hate towards them no matter what however the difference is, for bts a lot of the vitriol that was aimed at them was not just from non fans or haters, it’s people in the industry who wanted to get in the way of their success. production companies, fellow idols who have seniority over them, tv program hosts… they were getting it from every direction and from people with actual power to destroy their career! when people say big 3 privilege, it’s not just about the opportunities they get for being from bigger companies but also the protection they get that prevents them from receiving this kind of treatment from anyone in the industry. justin you’re absolutely right! i know harris is into a lot of other kpop groups (some from those companies) but that doesn’t mean you should deny the truth?! lmao this is a well known fact within the kpop community and this is coming from someone that has been a kpop fan way before bts debuted!

8:53 no it's true! If BTS were part of big 3 they would definitely not gotten so much h8 & it's a fact know in industry.... it's just that harris as a typical k-pop stan, has soft spot for k-pop groups😂 all this started cuz they were not from big 3 overpowering a popular group from big 3 at that time..to be specific EXO and Big Bang..so EXO-Ls and VIPs were the biggest h8ters of BTS..still are😂 including blinks and millions of other fandom.. kpopies hv always been like this towards BTS and ARMY..and ppl wonder why majority of ARMYs are not multi stans 🚶🏻‍♀️ The story of BTS is really atypical of K-pop in general. BTS began to gain strength internationally before in Korea, in fact when the Korean industry realized what was happening with BTS it was already too late and they had already begun their rise. The irony of all this is that it was precisely the mistreatment and attacks by the industry, the media and the Kpop fandoms that gave the strength to ARMY to undertake their own fight to support the boys, the fandom understood that the The only way to protect them was to make them so big that they were untouchable. ARMY began with translations, raising funds to pay for advertising screens, articles in magazines, paying for KZfaq Adds but in this case, since it could not be with official material from the boys, it was done by directing them to BTS fancams, they began to organize in block international fanbases for voting on programs and competitions, raise funds to sponsor the purchase of music for fans who did not have the resources, support the reactions of KZfaq channels ETC ETC ETC Everything exploded with the Billboard 2017 when BTS won their first award in the USA because this gave them a huge boost that attracted many new fans, which gave even more strength to ARMY to continue giving everything for the boys. So the reason that BTS is this huge is cuz nor the k-pop industry or the mediaplay helped them unlike “big 3” company groups.. ARMYs are the reason that helped BTS in their journey..it was like a grassroot movement made by fans💜

A lot of the issues that they faced in the media, like being mistreated by show hosts and being accused publicly on shows of plagiarism and things like that only happened because they weren't part of the Big 3. The thing is that the Big 3 have a lot of clout in the broadcasting industry. A lot of the hosts who attacked them on broadcasts were basically in the Big 3's pocket and knew exactly what they were doing. Like the one reporter who tried to question them about supposed plagiarism accusations who was a reporter *for* one of the other Big 3 companies.

This is barely anything. While all celebrities get hate for everything, this is just on another level. They were attacked before they even started and it continues to this day. There's just no end to it. They're not only attacked by haters who get pissy at everything. This is proper bullying and pettiness at its finest. Fans from other groups teamed up to sabotage them, bully them, and attack Armys. But also being bullied and shunned by the K-pop industry in general and the underground scene. All that while also being shunned and bullied on the international scene. And now being hated for being Asian and popular. BTS and Armys had to fight against everything together. They comfort us and we've got their backs no matter what. That's how it is. People love to criticize Army for being too sensitive and aggressive when it's fully justified after everything BTS and Army went through. While it may be sometimes exaggerated, there are reasons why. With that being said, I wanted to congratulate you guys again! 11:04 So about the "m-i-s-o-g-y-n-i-s-t" lyrics & the controversy...let me clear the misunderstanding k-popies & some ARMYs hv..this was blown out of proportion by h@ters & Antis to create drama that time, which worked cuz k-popies & media latched on it... *This is going to long a$$ comment* Let's be real, War of Hormones wasn't misogynistic. It was just an honest song about what guys in that age range go through. They were straight up saying that they struggle with their hormones when they see a pretty girl, *and guess what? That's just being honest.* 👁️👄👁️ The title itself gives a clear idea to how they see it. A war. An internal conflict. And it's true to what guys in their late teens and early 20s go through. Bangtan has always been about talking about their experiences and being a voice of people their age. The entire album, Dark & Wild, was really just about the turmoils of young adulthood. In the title of the album too, you can already tell what the sentiment was going to be. The first 3 albums spoke about school and issues of teens. And then from there, the darker days of coming to terms with adulthood. And then the HYYH series. Everything was thematic with stories they wanted to tell as they go through life. Antis and fans of other groups were just grasping at straws to find something to shit on and unfortunately the media picked up on it and then some ARMY took it as truth and they themselves started talking as if the song was offensive. It isn't. We need to stop spreading this story as if BTS were misogynistic boys who needed to learn a lesson. Yes, Namjoon has learned a lot from the experience and has gone out of his way to speak to experts in women's studies, but I'm sure that whole ordeal also caused him unnecessary pain. *Now, My personal take on this:* I don't see anything wrong with the lyrics of the song. All boys go through puberty and the things BTS sung in this are just reflective of their experience going through that phase in their lives. This is the reason I love them and their songs.. they didn't hide anything and covered all the feelings/thoughts of a person who is in his/her adolescent...one can see them growing up from then till today…I personally don't find the lyrics offensive and “most” Armys as well..as I agree they are expressing the struggles of dealing with hormonal changes in adolescence, and I'm sorry but sexual attraction is the number one pressing issue in most hormonal teens regardless of gender. There's a couple of issues I take with people who found this offensive. First, the double standard. You can't tell me young women were purely innocent in their thoughts and feelings as they watched these young men dance and sing, they just didn't make a song about it, at least not publicly. Secondly, the entire concept BigHit wanted from BTS is a representation of the youth culture and the issues youth deal with as seen and heard through the lyrics and music of BTS, and of course everyone has or will experience sexual attraction. Yes, they refer to see through clothing and high heels etc, but I've seen hundreds of posts referring to JK's abs, Jimin's body rolls and shoulder "accidents" Tae's tongue...you get the idea, and while many comments aren't necessarily teens it's not a problem. There can only be an issue if the lyrics were implying that I'm only attracted to girls who wear heels and sheer clothing, not sneakers and sweats. Anyone who has experienced adolescence knows however that if they're sexually attracted to someone the person could easily walk around in a potato sack and an adolescent would still be entranced. A lot of people were offended by that line, "Girls are equations and us men just do them". Personally, I took it as "do them" meant they were puzzles to be solved, not a sexual act. RM was honestly shocked that people were offended by the lyrics and that they could be considered misogynistic. It was definitely a learning experience for him. He apologized and has since run his lyrics through a few professionals in women's studies before releasing a new song. They don't really release songs like this any more. *But to that a korean Army said translation in English were a bit off, which lead to misunderstandings and explained it saying : “I was kinda surprised it's translation was "do" because that part "do them" CAN actually sound offensive to some people, because the meaning of that word 'do' is not clear. However I can clearly say that it's not meant that way, and Korean version lyrics tell that. Words are more specific, and not controversial in Korean version lyrics, because it doesn't say 'do. That part in Korean is 여자들은 방정식 우리 남자들은 해 which says we men are 해 is a word for mathematics, and it means the 'answer/the final number'. So it means they solve. the complex minds of the girls. 해 DOES have the meaning of 'do' too, but its not appropriate to translate this part of the lyrics that way, because if u say it means "do them, it doesn't fit the sentence there. Since there's no Objectives for that Verb 'do' and that's... kinda awkward. plus. the context and meaning of the whole sentence is talking abt mathematics and Equations so what u said is true. It doesn't mean sexual way”* it's freaking mistranslation, if you don't belive me ask any korean, not only k-army but any Korean.. it was done to sabotage BTS's career..💀 BTS hv made few mistakes unknowingly early in their career and said things which can be considered offensive, as they were young but they hv re-educated themselves, apologized and never repeated the mistakes again..but I hv seen many k-popies and so called Multi Armys twisting many things because of that..take for example this song.. it's blown out of the proportion just to cause drama..and they were sadly successful in that..haters/antis tried every lil thing to bring BTS down & sabotage their career ngl.. *Now last but not the least* ..when this controversy happened, When joon apologized, The one thing that struck me about that was a part in the statement saying they took so long to apologize because they wanted to understand what exactly was the issue... And that part I definitely liked, I've never been a fan of blanket apologies.. BTS always try to understand the problem & try to improve..joon apologized because as the controversy was over "ppl were offended", he apologized for the ppl who were offended by this song, that doesn't mean the song was wrong, he was kind enough to take responsibility for it, ofc bighit & BTS took this issue (which was blown out of proportion) and apologized so that this unwanted drama surrounding the song would end (isn't that common sense) he sincerely apologised..but that doesn't mean that WOH is misogynist or objectifying women..like the title itself clears it out! "War of hormones" what ppl expected form this song to be like seriously?! Ppl who still want to believe that WOH is objectifying women are really dumb for me..like be practical..that's all i can say🤷🏻‍♀️ *I'm out* 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️

Hi, I’m 23 and am a newer army, wasn’t around when all this blew up, I listened to the song on my own to come to my own conclusions, and I do think the song has misogynistic lyrics/sentiments behind it. SK itself is a very conservative and misogynistic country, and BTS members are normal humans who grew up in that society. They aren’t irredeemable monsters for making that song. They are just normal boys who were influenced by the environment they grew up in. It takes, exactly like you said, time and willingness to learn and to do better, to not repeat such attitudes. I see many armys who defend that this song isn’t misogynistic only ever talk abt the ONE line that was mistranslated and lost its original meaning. IMO that does nothing but wash over the growth that BTS went through, specially RM since he is the main songwriter. There are many other lines in that song that have misogynistic undertones. One of my biggest issues with this song (that doesn’t happen in songs like boy in luv) is the generalization of all women. They aren’t talking abt a specific woman they find attractive, they refer to ALL women multiple times in the song saying things like “women are the best gifts” (as if all women on this earth are here to satisfy men’s sexual desires since that is literally all the song praises women for, being sexy, turning men on, and again, the problem is the generalization of womEn instead of a single womAn they had a crush on). “Who said women are cold icebergs” “Females that make me go crazy, they stimulate me every day” These lyrics aren’t describing a crush, they’re describing how their minds objectify and sexualize all women. That is not normal, much less due to hormones. That is misogynistic and it is TAUGHT behavior/mentality, and it was taught to them and countless other normal teenage boys by the society we live in. The song also suffers from this mystification of women, which I personally feel is dehumanizing. And again, the problem is the generalization of all women, saying that women are enigmatic and hard to understand and bla bla bla (the equation line fits here even after the correct translation for it). Women are just human. Just as human as men. They are not harder to understand than men, that mentality is rooted in misogyny, it’s rooted in the idea that women aren’t as rational as men, they are emotional, unpredictable, hard to understand, etc. Those are the misogynistic undertones that are taught to teenage boys, and that presented themselves perfectly in the existence of this song written by the teenage boys who lived in this society and were taught to think that way. We have no problem saying that our society is misogynistic, but when it comes to calling out how that misogyny presents itself in NORMAL ppl’s lives through behaviors, attitudes and words, it suddenly becomes a dirty word to use. It’s ridiculous. To me, the song was very much misogynistic, and it makes me love, respect and take pride in how much they pay attention to honest criticism and take responsibility when they feel they’ve learned enough to realize and own up to their mistakes. I understand many armys desire to keep presenting BTS as these flawless angels who never made a single mistake in their lives. But I think it’s so much more valuable to present them as they are. Humans. Bc that is the key to BTS’s impact (not fame, not success, their impact), they can touch and inspire millions of ppl bc they have never seen/presented themselves as anything more than human. An incident like war of hormone should be hailed by armys as living proof that bigotry is present in all of us bc of our environments, but that it’s not impossible to unlearn, apologize, and change for the better. Instead, all I see is armys washing over the song’s lyrics, hyper focusing on the ONE mistranslation as if it was only one line that was problematic, and saying that ppl who disagree are either antis or misinformed. Such a waste. Bonus comment: “If anyone says he’s not interested in them, I’d be dumbfounded as a man” There is also this line in the song that implies that they expect all men to be attracted to women, which is just….like ok, now let’s explore that heteronormative view of the world. Like it’s not even homophobia per say but it’s like, it should not be the norm that ppl assume ppl’s sexuality is straight by default and anything else is seen as shocking or “makes you dumbfounded”. All the lyrics here are pulled from doolset, if you have a better translation for the entire song that somehow changes the meaning of all these lines I’d be happy to take a look at it. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from, nothing I said was with malice. Much love army 💜

Finally! 😊 Thanks for reacting to this, such a necessary part of understanding BTS's and Army's journey. Some Army's were so traumatised by the bullying that they left the fandom. Possibly young vulnerable kids who just wanted to show their love. Unbelievable the actions people take. But we came through it, as we like to say Karma is an Army! As Celeste says, this only made us stronger. 😅 However there is NO excuse to treat anyone badly. Especially grown adults. Shows just how much is hidden from view, and never to trust people bought and paid for in the entertainment industry. I'm a firm believer that no one gets away with it. Such negativity will always return in spades to the instigator. If they'd left them alone it's arguable that BTS may not be as big as they are now. 😂

The boycott of artists from small companies or independent is a common practice, but it is not known. Often we don't know great artists because it doesn't come to us in the right way. BTS is just another example. They challenge these guys full of money, helping institutions, spreading words of acceptance...they bother and at the same attract crowds. At the end of the day, it's all about money guys. I don’t blame the army for being protective of them.

17:07 Guys, this call was a shameful thing... it wasn't made by an army but an exo fan. bts won a grand prize instead of exo that year and their fans were so angry that they accused the award show of corruption. The attendant was extremely accurate in what he said. And even too patient, he had no obligation to even try to explain to her why BTS won.

31:30 I always have to add that this image came out during the time that there was a lot of violent asian hate crimes being reported in the news because of covid. It was very jarring and I have NO IDEA who thought that would be a good idea. 31:55 I will say that this is a perfect case of the saying "karma is an army" because the dude hated on BTS for covering a Coldplay song but within the year after his remarks, BTS and Coldplay did a collab song called "My Universe" hahahaha 35:13 Funny thing about this is that a few years later, Anne Hegerty was on a british trivia show and she HAD TO answer a BTS-related question. Hahaha and she got it right so it seems that she learned that they were of some importance hahaha.

We had a similar Covid remark being made in Australia on our Woke News Type Program “The Project” about Taehyung around the Grammys 2022 time where they had footage of Taehyung coughed on screen and the “Reporter” stated that he was coughing his Covid on everyone in the place, when he didn’t even have Covid at that time, Australian ARMYs sent posts to their socials requesting an apology and labelling her xenophobic and she was removed from the panel immediately.

I'm not the biggest fan of this video because it just rushes through all the points without providing proper context. If you are not already familiar with some of these events and the background information surrounding them, you will likely not understand them fully. They go into detail about whatever topic they are discussing (although I'm not sure if boracity has done any videos on this particular topic).

Its crazy to even hear and witness the hate agenda towards BTS on the news I speak two languages and have heard this hate agenda in television from both languages which took me by surprise cause I didn't believe my ears that BTS would be blasted negatively for literally existing. I also realized with their growth in popularity they would receive masses of hate from all areas especially since they are Asian (people were just scared that Westerners weren't leading and these 7 talented young men were bringing about change/impact that was good). Anyways, it's frustrating to witness the hate agenda cause like if you don't care about them why do you try so hard to make space to hate on them its quite sad especially since ignorant people who listen to the news just unquestionably follow the BTS hate train and so I as a passionate army try to do my part and educate people around me who blindly hate on BTS. I'll always stand firm with BTS when it comes to unnecessary hate.

Ahh also in Rise if bangtan he put some things to make it clear that bad and hard things happened but she really wasen't going deep into hate around but focused on band story and how they were. Bc even tho BTS knows what is going around, what hate they get, what antis are saing, what media play is used, they don't comment on it, they know if they comment this only will be bigger and give cloud to antis, so yeah don't really comment but they acctions talk louder (like not atending shows, or use words that are trown at them) and music... so in conslusion bc they don't normally adress this things in Rise that is focused on members, there isn't that much of this really hard side...

i feel like the first years it was only in korea because they were popular there and then when they went to the us, they had to face all the western racism (which they still do today) but there never was anyone to show them how to deal with it so it was an even bigger burden. a lot of non fans honestly don't even realize it. celebrities are always subject to critism and rumors and gossip, especially in america where it's hard to prosecute media platforms, but honestly the way bts is, i've never seen it before. i remember when i started following them, when they were already big (2021), i was so surprised at how much hate they got but i guess it all goes back to the kind of people they are. haters and just bad people, the more they see you are a good person who takes accountability when accused, even unfairly, the more they want to target you. this is why you will see a lot of armys being overly protective. we just don't understand how amazing people who lead with kindness, sincerity and hard work are targeted the way bts are. thank you for the reaction! x also love the army lighstick!!

23:45 Bwahaha, fun fact! MBC pulled so much BS with HYBE groups that HYBE pulled all of their groups from their shows until just this past year MBC came crawling and legit apologized for their behavior and made a deal with HYBE to get their artists back. It was big news because the feud between MBC and HYBE was well known. HYBE made MBC sign a deal that not only promised protections and better treatment for their own artists but that would protect *all* artists from abusive tactics by MBC.

Their is many more , two ladies in Greece, one in Italy, a couple in south America, and Only RM and Jimin got death threats that I've heard of and ARMY stays on this stuff. The song Not Today deals with all this in a very positive way, so does ON. Telling ARMY if we stick together with out message, words like bullets won't hurt us. I LOVE Not Today. The plagiarism part makes me sooo mad because back then they were accused unnecessarily by the other fandoms but now when their own favourite artists are literally making stuff very similar to BTS, those fandoms are playing the victim card upon confrontation. They say that its inspiration. Where was this thought back then? BTS were targeted with hate on the smallest of stuff then. Those other fandoms are truly a bunch of hypocrites. BTS deserves the success and respect they have earned. They continue to save people through their music which not many can do. I truly appreciate them and their hard work.

Unfortunately, this still goes on… even with the guys in the military. I think JK probably gets more hate than most of them at this time. A lot from solo stans of the others. I know all three Maknaes have had issues in the last several months. V had a sasaeng actually get into an elevator with him where he lives and present him with a marriage listens. JK had one delivering food and they would come and wait outside his place. I think I heard that Jimin had a death threat and in December I read a tweet of someone trying to solicit sasaengs to “Sl4 augt3r” JK, the said he might get them to do it to his entire family because that. Would be the best way to hurt JK. It’s literally sick how far people take this stuff.

2016 was the worst year for bts, if i'm being honest, i became an army not because i've heard their music. But because they are always in the top articles for the most hated group in korean media. I'm just a kdrama lovers at that time, totally not knowing anything about kpop at all but they always appeared in my instagram homepage, with lots of hatred comments of course (it always thousands of comments in one post). The peaked was when they won grand prize on mama 2016, wow the comments was *chef kiss*. I got curious, who is these guys and what did they do to receive such nasty comments. I was a little confused at that time, they have cool and amazing songs, but everyone hated them. Now i'm glad the boys got what they deserved. They really deserve this.

BTS got unusual hate treatments more than any groups from the beginning. They were the first hip hop group and they got bullied from underground rappers and mistreated by the idol companies for that reason. Their name Bulletproof Boy Scout (this name was unusual and weired in Korean) got laughed at by the publics and the industries that everybody thought they will disappear quickly. At that time EXO from SM or BigBang from YG were the most dominant groups and BTS broke their records which made fans of these groups were very upset, jealous and did everything to crush BTS. Once they broke out to the US, again BTS had to face not only received the racism from the western world publics & the music industries but also the Bieber, Swift, Grande & other fans. In fact Korean other group fans joined the US these groups fans ganged up against BTS whenever there were votings for any music awards.
