This song is so up-lifting. The lyrics are based on part of a Martin Luther King speech about constantly moving forward- if you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl. As you said, so motivational. They had so many obstacles to overcome in their early days and were told they would never make it, but just look at them now. Their talent, hard work and team work has taken them deservedly to the top! 💜

You guys should totally watch the behind the scenes video for how this was shot...theres a channel called Bangtan subs that has eng subs on all their old videos. On a side note, this is one of my favourite BTS songs...I take it as a super encouraging song to the listener, that no, you're not going to fail. Not today. I'm a 38 year old mom of 2 from Canada, and during my last pregnancy, I was to be induced and I was nervous about the delivery, so I made my husband play this super loud on repeat in the car all the way to the hospital and by the time I got there I was SUPER pumped and ready for it. 😂😂😂 so BTS has definitely got me through some important moments in my life!

This song is one of my biggest mood changers. You may have noticed in the lyric translation the word "crow tit", which a lot of people get confused by. A crow tit or Baepsae is a tiny bird, and BTS use it as a recurring metaphor for an underdog. They have a song called Baepsae ( though the English title is Silver Spoon) which discusses a harsh reality of Millennials in SK vs the Boomer generation. There is a channel called DKDKTV who do some explanation videos for BTS music so you can understand the translations and references to Korean culture/society. Also there is a web page called Doolsetbangtan, which also breaks down the lyrics to all of BTS'S songs. It's really helpfull in getting the intent behind the music which doesn't always come out correctly with english translations.

I've just recently learned myself (forgot, I think I came across some old contents), the lines spoken in the beginning by RM was quoted reference from a battle scene from Lord of the Rings: "A day may come when we lose But it is not today Today we fight"

When the designated time came, because the song is called "Not Today", they made fans think that it would indeed not be released "today" after all 😅

BTS lyrics always have a very deep meaning even if the song is in english like the big 3 songs in english. BTS is that sincere artist in their music and the other producers in big hit music too, they have that genuine feeling when writing or being part of a song by the boys. Their lyrics are not empty or fashionable. BTS is an artist, the most complete artist in kpop. I appreciate the reaction.

as far as i know, this glass/ice round is the Korean monument. so it turns out that Big Hit basically had to get the permission from government to film the one damn MV there. the passion and the pedantry with which K-pop companies treat the MVs shooting process are unimaginable

Their are many different theories with what the men in black are. I believe majority of the us think of them to be BTS haters who then turn into fans. If you notice at the beginning they are like against BTS and trying to block them but towards they end they are dancing with BTS… Basically turning haters into fans or maybe some haters could actually be fans or whatever.
