In case you don't know. Noona is a term Men use if they are talking to a Woman who's older than them. Also Satoori means dialect or accent. Seoul Satoori is the standard Korean. Jimin is from Busan, which us known for having a strong dialect so his natural satoori is a bit strong but he's trying to hide it a but since it might come off as a bit rude because of the pronounciation that is used in Busan Satoori. Actually Jungkook is also from Busan, Suga from Daegu, J-Hope from Gwangju and V from Geochang. Those are all regions with pretty strong satoori but like i said, they are often trying to speak standard korean since their pronounciation might sound a bit rude due to their satoori. It's also can be hard to understand sometimes if they talk fast or if they use typical satoori words...
@OkayTinashe
@OkayTinashe 6 жыл бұрын
Ohhh. That explains why V in his intro vid says he waited to be at Geochang Dome to announce his grandma news. And I didn't realize how many forms of language in that region there were!

OKAY tinashe Honestly it's pretty much like in America too. There is one Main language but many Dialect and accents in it. Like for example someone in texas talk different than someone in New York. Korea doesn't have different states but they also have accents and dialects that variate with every region. Some of them are stronger, some of them less. Regions in the South (Busan for example), rural villages and provinces (like Gwangju, Daegu or Geochang) are usually the ones who have pretty strong satoori. You mostly can identify them by the way the pronounce their words and sentences. Like i said, satoori might sometimes come off as a bit rude due to the pronounciation, so most idols who naturally have an accent or dialect try to use standard Korean a.k.a Seoul Dialect because it's also easier to understand for others...

RM is an ENTIRE goofball. I was just mentioning in a reaction to one of their goof-around videos (I think it was WoH Real War ver dance prac) that a lot of people think Hobi is the most extra & most goofy one in the group, but it's not _necessarily_ true. Hobi's definitely the loudest, but if you keep your eyes on RM you'd see he's always doing something bananas, even when they're doing a serious video.

The show where Heechul is a member is called "knowing Brothers" or "Knowing Bros." on KZfaq or "Man on a Mission" if you watch old episodes on Netflix. its all in how they chose to translate the Korean title of the show. Heechul is and has been a member of several variety show casts, but "Running Man" is not one of them. Heechul was a temporary host for a while on "Weekly Idol" while one of the other hosts was on sick leave. I am surprised in this clip that you didn't see Heechul acting more extra. He normally steals the spotlight a lot of times when he was the host on that show. "Running Man" is another Korean variety show that's more of a game show where Idols come on the show and compete in different games and competitions with the hosts of the show. "Running Man" is a very athletic, outsmart your competition type show that is also very funny and a lot of fun. When you have free time you should watch some of those Running Man episodes. Its a good way to get to know Idols and Korean actors and its a good way to start to understand more about the Korean Culture and maybe even pick up a better understanding of the Korean language. However, you will have to watch that show on you own time because it is copyrighted and you won't be able to react to it, but none the less, I recommend you spend some time getting to know a few more Kpop groups and some more about some of the most popular game shows and variety show programs. Some Korean terms you really need to start to learn in order to understand more about what they are talking about on these programs are: Hyung is what a male calls an older brother or an older male friend. Noona is what a male calls an older sister or a female friend that is older than them. Oppa is what a girl calls an older brother or older male friend or a boyfriend. Unni is when a girl called an older sister or older female friend. Dongsaeng is what you call anyone of any gender that is younger than you or someone that is considered your junior such as a title brother or sister or younger group member, etc. Seonbae is how you address someone who is your senior, someone that is older than you or deserves respect because they are an authority figure or have been doing something longer than you. (ex. Heechul would be BTS' Seonbae because he debuted in 2005 and BTS debuted in 2013 -- Heechul has been in the industry a lot longer and has more seniority plus BTS has a lot of respect for Super Junior and all they have done in the industry.) Hubae is how you address someone who is younger than you, someone that is considered your junior. Maknae is a term used to describe someone who is the youngest in a group of people. Aeygeo means to act cute or be outwardly cute (Aeygeo or acting cute is often used to attempt to win favor with someone or get them to change their mind because you are so cute they can't help but say yes or forgive you for something, etc.) That is why it is so important in Korean culture to know how old someone is because you have to know what honorific term to use to address someone. It is considered very impolite if you don't address someone using the correct term. That's why in Korean culture one of the first things you ask someone when you meet them for the first time is how old they are.

Weekly Idol is a variety show where idols most show up when they are about to have a comeback, release new song or album. It is a show where MC's quite often make idols embarrass them selfs as much they can. About this time Heechul was temporary MC while Jung Hyung Don ( DONI) was sick. The big man in the colorful sweater is Defconn (CONI), he is more nice thou. He is a rapper and Tv personality. Next month Weekly Idol will get new MC's. This has never been my favorite show thou cos they sometimes literally persuade and nag until an idol do something they really don't want to do and it's not even fun anymore. In my personal opinion, DONI has been too much and goes over the line of what's okay. That is just what i feel . I know this is very popular show in Korea.

Yeah, sometimes it's almost uncomfortable for me as a viewer and you can tell the idols are uncomfortable as well. But I still watch because it can be hilarious. I think it can be a tough show for people who aren't used to Korean variety to really get into at first, but if you get past that initial "wtf" feeling you'll probably enjoy it. :)

The fastest rapper in the group is usually Suga. RM can go hella fast too but it's not his normal style, he's a mid-to-fast speed generally. But Suga (Agust D) always goes ham. And JHope usually has a smoother, chill style. So if someone's asking "who was the one rapping really fast" it's most likely Suga, then RM, then JHope.

just want to note his name is Heechul pronounced like He chull with the u pronounced like gull. This show is Weekly Idol. He and Hani were temporary hosts while one of the hosts was out on leave due to some mental issues. He returned and took back his position. He and Defcon have since left the show after being there since it's pilot and it has 3 new hosts. ALso, he's not on Running Man, though he has been a guest on the show, running man is a competitive game show where people compete for money/gold/awards etc. It's known for its nametag elimination games. The show he regularly hosts is called Knowing Brother. That's the show you've been reacting to. He's also been on other radio shows and was even on a show called Xman which ended in the late 2000s.

@@OkayTinashe it can be hard to get 한글 pronunciations down. But they don't have a character/letter for the i sound like in the words "hit, it, bit, etc." Heechul's name is spelled 김희철. ㄱ = K,ㅣ= ee, and ㅁ = m. So last name is 김/ Kim (pronounced Keem). ㅎ = H, ㅡ = eu, and ㅣ = ee. So that part of his name becomes 희/Hee (pronounced like it's spelled). ㅊ = Ch, ㅓ= eo, and ㄹ = L (sometimes it makes an r sound, but when it's at the bottom, it makes an L sound). So that part of his name is 철/Cheol (you can pronounce it like chuhl). So, 김희철/Kim Heechul = Keem Heecheol. If you're interested in learning 한글, I HIGHLY recommend that you learn the 한글 alphabet and the sounds each character makes (there's only 24 characters/letters and then 10 character combinations/diphthongs). It's super easy and has helped my pronunciation SO much. And you get comfortable seeing the characters and can start reading what you see. I don't understand all of what I'm reading, but at least I can say it correctly. 😂

Just FYI for context, since it can all be so confusing- Weekly Idol is on a major broadcast station (MBC)- those stations are usually highly conservative for various reasons. One of the shows Heechul appears on is ‘Knowing Brothers’ (aka Man on a Mission, Ask Us Anything) which is on cable, allowing them to be a tad cheekier. Weekly Idol is a fairly tame show which gives Idol groups a platform to promote. It’s really geared toward fans and fandom culture, and there is a lot of “fan service’ type activities on the show. In this respect Weekly Idol is somewhat different from other Korean variety programs which usually populates its shows with a lot of regulars who are all consciously aware of the “role” they play within the show, which results in very meta-elements where everyone discusses their “characters” even though they are all playing themselves. To give further context- while K-Pop is a massive industry, in many ways it is also not as mainstream as international fans and observers would expect. Just like boy bands/girl bands in America, K-Pop is seen as niche and geared toward hardcore fans/young teenage girls, with the exception of a rare few, like Big Bang who have achieved a level of mainstream success and recognition. A lot of unintended misinformation is circulated in the west from international media and fans who make assumptions. K-Pop is a diverse genre, and it is still growing-up, but its cultural significance in Korea is complicated.

So variety shows in Korea have what they call corners or segments. What you watched was a snippet of a segment from Weekly Idol. In this segment they have fans call in and request things of the idols. So at the beginning of the video you hear a recording of an ARMY requesting BTS members record wake up alarms for their fans. Obviously the hosts already know what the request is so they prepared sheets of paper with different types of personalities the boys can do and handed them out. Jhope had younger man so he had to make up a wake up alarm as if he were talking to an older woman, also called noona. Jimin had to do it using an accent, aka satoori. RM had to act cute, aka aegyo. Jungkook had to be super manly, sang namja, so he used his own satoori or accent which sounds tough. Jin had to rap, and V had to do it while sounding sexy. There were more fan calls with requests after this. I recommend you find some time on your own to watch a whole episode or two to get an idea of how they format it and so you can see all the segments. This segment is something they do for idols who have already been on a few times. Even if you just watch the BTS episodes you'll see pretty much all the segments. Though they do a couple of different ones for girl groups.

Heechul pronunciation - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rN94pap0l6qbkXk.html Heechul is 1/7th of Knowing Brothers, not the star, of one had to be picked, it would be one of the older members. Hey tinashe I’d love to see you and someone else react to bts run. I’ve not yet heard of anyone getting copyright strikes for this? Like there’s a logo of vlive (where people can watch the show) and you just have to cover it up (apparently). Idk who you can ask about this (prob other reactors) but there’s a lot of ARMY who like to (re-)watch the run episodes together with the reactors. Just so you know, the episodes are not (or just sometimes loosely) connected and it’s basically just BTS playing games against each other or doing challenges. You can just react to any episode (but there are some fan favorites lol) and they have different legths (like 15-35min). You don’t have to react to it, but if the day comes... *I’ll be here* lol

In case you don't know, BTS was on Knowing Brother/Ask Us Anything (the show where Heechul is, and the theme is school) they were in episode 94, you can react to it, the length of the episode is 1hr 44min so you can edit your reaction if you don't want to upload long videos, here is a link where you can watch it openload.co/f/UmONSSnzhRI/ or you can just choose another server from the kshowonline site kshowonline.com/kshow/7460-[engsub]-knowing-brother-ep.94 YOU DONT HAVE TO REACT TO IT BUT YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY WATCH IT EVEN IF YOU DON'T RECORD A REACTION. 100% recommended ^^

Great reactions from you both! I really appreciate that you're really trying to learn more about BTS and Kpop in general. Please continue and finish the BTS member introductions videos!~ I recommend you go through the rest in order of their ages. Since you're already done with Suga and Jungkook, you should react to the rest in this order: Taehyung (V) -> Jimin -> Namjoon (RM) -> Hoseok (J-Hope) -> Jin Also, I like your co-reactor in this video. I'd love to have her back! ^_____^

sorry, Im just up and had way too much coffee....aaah.....weeeeeee.....Potatoe!!!! second comment of random coffee induced after thought . What is clever about BTS, and maybe a great learning curve (not learning curve but insert phrase of your choice) for your channel. BTS utilises every single aspect to reach out to their audience and fans. Because they were with a small management they couldn't get access to the publicity and tv appearances like other groups, so they used social media to great effect. Not only do they have their official MV, they then have behind the scenes making and dance practice videos. One song gives them 3 opportunities to reach out. Like you they also do personal vlogs to fans, still to this day even though they are still huge and they also do their own series called RUN where they do challenges and missions. This is how they built their fan base. Social media using at its best.

I know on your last video you wanted to react to I Need You which is part of a 3 part series (HYYH )by BTS. Now when you watch this its going to get you thinking. And belive me when you I say think i mean THINKING like theroies and refrences thinking. And this is comming from a person that doesnt like to think. Your going to here a lot of theories and things about it so dont ever think your wrong because we dont even know we are right half of the time. Here's a little advice or when you start the series. 1.The order is I Need You, Prologue, and Run 2. Watch I Need You 19+ (This is the number one a common KZfaqr mistake when they watch the series) The story line is more clear this way 2. Don't watch I Need You with subtitles. Yes the message of the song is good but the video and the lyrics don't go together in the song. 3. Watch Prolouge with Subs because they are kinda and somewhat important so you know what they're saying. 4. Watch Prologue til the very end (this is the second common mistake). People always skip it when there is important stuff during the end. Plus the credit song is good. 5. Also pay close attention because the stories line up with another. Ok anyway this comment is starting to get super long so I'm going to stop. I'm just helping a fellow Army out.

Please react to BTS start from their HYYH series (The most beautiful moment in life). It start with I Need You (19+ version**), and then Prologue, Run, Forever Young. And then move on the Wing series, start with the 7 short films of each member and the songs connect to it are Begin, Lie, Stigma, First Love, Mama, Reflection and Awake. Their songs goes in order with a very intricate and complicated story lines, so it will help you understand better if you watch in them in order. I can't wait to see you guys got suck in the BTS deep black hole of theories behind their music like all the ARMY out there suffering. There is so much content and things to discuss about. I guess I comment more later if you decided to react to the videos that I recommend. Thanks for your reaction, it's always fun to watch
