The music producer of the fake love performance mix outed the show’s sound mixer saying that they put in the wrong background music. so most of the performance was acapella. some of the members also had malfunctioning earpieces (see jungkook squirming with his earpiece and taking it out) which means they were singing into the mic but couldnt hear themselves. they were going along to the piano for guidance and sang through it. i cant imagine how freaked out everyone ones... charlie was probably like “wait im playing the only instrumental playing?” they pulled through though andnim so proud of their professionalism

Docksim clarfied today saying that sound mixer did play the correct BGM. However, the show's sound the mixer fucked up and they couldn't hear the audio.

@@katiecampbell747 The sound mixers could have fixed it but I'm guessing they were inexperienced. An army who has experience with sound mixing was explaining that for performances mixers have to make sure the artists can hear the music and their own voice (in-ears), making sure the audience can hear the bgm and also making sure the bgm can be heard on TV. They messed up on all three...

@@animefreak12375 It's a shame that happened. I always loved singing and BTS was an influence for me to take my singing more serious so I started to take lessons. Through life I just sang without music to back it up so now it is difficult to sing with the music. I can imagian the trouble and frustration they had by not hearing the music correctly.

@@katiecampbell747 I also want to applaud BTS and Charlie bc normally artists would have stopped and had the mixers fix the issues and start over. Adele has done it, Mariah Carey has done it. But they "winged it" and still gave us a masterpiece.

1- Jungkook had a wisdom tooth removed the previous day, his cheek was swollen and it hurt during the gala, that is, he was not 100% 2-Charlie, as I read, came the day before to Korea, so they did not have nearly time to rehearse. 3- BigHit published that during the performance of Fake Love they did not give them the sound track, with which they had worked a lot, and left them on stage without having any reference tone or just listening to each other, that is, a cappella and improvising. Even Charlie felt bad on stage for that reason. Deference from the sound technicians of the MGA (YG, the directly competing company of BH). That is already a personal opinion, but I think they did it intentionally to leave BTS badly before the whole world. 4 - Jin left after that with the shirt painted with a giant S, emulating The Dead Kennedys a punk group that criticized how corrupt the musical industry of the time was. Jin wanted to do the same, but representing the Korean. Bravo Jin. In his face.

@ 4:34 basically what JK was explaining was that he is a big fan of Charlie and if it weren’t for his cover to Charlie Puth’s We Don’t Talk Anymore that he did last year, opportunities like this performance would not have been possible. The BTSxCharliePuth performance was the highlight of the night, but people claimed that it was a flop and did not fulfill expectations. Unfortunately, they had some technical difficulties in which MGA directors played the wrong track that Big Hit producers mixed for the occasion. The boys were a bit off tune and sounded nervous bc of it but their professionalism played it off as the performance was still incredible to watch. Either way, BTS have had very packed schedules with touring, hopping from country to country, and then the intensity of award show season...strained voices and tired bodies are expected to occur if the boys don’t receive well enough rest.

Too bad the sound manager didn't play the backing music for Fake Love performance, it wasn't suppose to be a capella, this is why it was off

@bee boi no, a capella means singing w/o backing music, they've had a new arrangement for the acoustic version of Fake love but something got messed so it the only backing music was Charlie playing the piano

@dog lover They sing live all the time. For the fake love performance that had a new remixed instrumental that the producers were working on and it wasn't played which resulted in BTS and Charlie having to improvise on the spot. Which is a lot of pressure, not just for BTS but for Charlie because he had to guide BTS with his piano playing. It also did not help that their in-ears weren't working so they could not hear themselves singing.

They didn’t play the backing track for fake love so they had to improvise amd do an acapella and the mics didn’t work either so they didn’t hear how they sounded so that’s why it sounded a little off still amazing tho:)

THEY COULDN'T HEAR THE INSTRUMENTS OR BACKING OR THEMSELVES AND HAD TO DO IT ON THE SPOT BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL MISTAKES WHEN THE WRONG BACKING WAS PUT ON AND IT CUT SHORT TOO EARLY, AND THEY JUST FINISHED A HUGE WORLD TOUR
