💜 There is a lot of double-entendres and wordplays with cultural references that are hard to translate in a few words, just the title word 땡 (Ddaeng) itself has 6-7 meanings that are relevant in the context. The first line in the chorus "One-Eight One-Three Three-Eight. Ddaeng" refers to having two cards from the same month in Hwatu, a Korean card game. BTS uses it as a metaphor to say they are invincible and can’t be defeated by anyone. Ddaeng is also a sound that describes when someone or something is wrong or simply a bell ringing.
It can also mean you are done/finished, game over, or describing good fortune.
In a tag game called “ice/freeze - ddaeng" it's used as a release sign.
You can also use the word ddaeng to describe swollen eyes, face, or body.
The combination of meanings caters to the wordplay in the song, denouncing those who look down on the group while also acknowledging their own success. Every source for the translation explains the lyrics, please visit them to learn more, see the links below.

💜 My goal is to deliver English subtitles that are correctly translated, easy to read and understand, whilst not being an element that disturbs or irritates you.
But I cannot make the rappers rap slowly ;)
💜 Regardless of the translation source for the subtitle, I also search for information about the meaning of the song and the lyrics. I fix errors, sync the subtitles to the video and replace words or sentences that need a better translation to make it easier to understand and/or follow the subtitles.
💜 I work on creating subtitles for BTS videos so that we can understand the songs better, as the lyrics are a big part of BTS music. I know a subtitle, as an option to turn on, will make people enjoy BTS more. I do not do it in an attempt to make money. Any advertising revenue is paid to the copyright holder, usually HYBE (Big Hit Entertainment), and not to me.
