I’m a Karmy and they’re all fluent in Japanese. Kpop artists study Japanese for Japanese music market cause Japan allows to international singers to sing only in Japanese. So Kop artists study Japanese and now Kpop is dominating Japanese music market especially Bts. Korean culture and Japanese culture are not mixed and they’re totally different. Bts always try to show Korean culture to the world.

I hope that Japan does not allow only songs that are sung in Japanese. BTS get twice as hard because they have to write Japanese lyrics and practice twice as much😔😪and We have to think deeply that Japan allows songs in English in the Japanese music market, but not in Korean.

"Japan allows to international singers to sing only in Japanese" As a Japanese, I can tell you that this is not true. I'm not an expert about Kpop in Japan, but I know that Kpop artists release Japanese songs because Japan is a big market for them, and not because 'only Japanese songs are allowed'.

@@navyblue8719You are right. I'm J-ARMY. Japan allowed selling song in Japanese language only isn't true. Kpop music industry selling original (Korean) and Japanese version because J-ARMY buying both. The first original version is on the market and later Japanese version because Japan is second biggest music market in the world. Personally I bought original album only because their native language better than anything else. Sorry my English I hope you understand. I'm 64 Japanese. California is actually one of the worst places for xenophobia honestly (I'm from the bay area) which is ironic because there are tons of asian americans that live here. My high school even had a xenophobia crisis in 2016 (everyone called it "yellow fever" which is an actual disease in asia btw so it doesn't make the term any better) and a lot of kids got hazed. (I never personally got hazed but bullying was common if you liked "asian things" like anime, kpop, etc. But I was mostly worried for my friends who were asian and they were scared. It was very real for us back then and now) the more I see things like this the more I wish I could do something, but unfortunately all I can do is call people out when I see it. It's not easy either especially when your family members have their own xenophobic views (whether they realize it or not). But catch me throwing hands at the next racist that dares to pull something while I'm around just saying

Thank you for using your platform to speak about this, well said 💜 To my knowledge the boys studied japanese while they were trainees and namjoon is fluent. I think they have a harder time speaking english than japanese They have whole comebacks in Japan, album and promo for the japanese market, plus they have worked in OST for movies like “your eyes tell” and the one dropping on april 2nd “film out”. They remake korean songs into jpn and also create new ones. They have worked their way into this market since really early in their careers The boys are pretty popular in japan considering none of the members is japanese and that is one of the hardest markets for foreigners to chart Also, their japanese songs are GOOD!!! You should check out: Don’t leave me, let go, lights, your eyer tell, crystal snow, wishing on a star✨✨✨✨

I am proudly a Japanese army living in Japan. The Japanese market is the first foreign market that Kpop stars usually go to/release songs in when going international (typically at the same time or not long after debut) because the trends, standards are pretty close compared to other countries. Same with BTS, and so they still do lots of concerts here in multiple cities. There's also an official Japanese fan club. Happy that kdrama, kfashion, korean food is huge here too! BTS can speak Japanese very well and I rarely see them communicate through an interpreter in concerts and have huge respect to them for that😘😘 I'm blessed to be able to listen to some of their songs in my first language.

Sorry, but what is your definition of fluency? And where do you get your evidence/information from? For one thing, V is far from fluent in English! He has great difficulty forming a sentence and struggles with pronunciation. Same for Jimin, and Suga. They work very hard on learning the correct pronunciation for their songs! And they practise what they want to say in order to participate in interviews. That is NOT fluency. However, they seem to understand written English more readily than they can catch fast spoken English. JHope comes after RM in productive fluency in English (he is very clear in his prosody), while Jin definitely can read English but is shy about speaking it. JK learns fast, mainly from his constant exposure to songs, and is phonologically so gifted. They all seem to be reasonably proficient in Japanese, but Don’t quote me on this. I really doubt RM is fluent in Mandarin! Never heard him say anything in Chinese.

BTS often has japanese albums or japanese versions of albums. They are fluent in Japanese and while most Koreans know a few phrases in Japanese, they aren't always fluent. Korean and Japanese are kind of like Spanish and Italian. The words are fairly similar and there is overlap but it doesn't mean you're fluent in both. A lot of Korean words are derived from Japanese due to Japanese colonialization of Korea in the 1900s. They also have some words that are derived from Chinese (before Hangul they spoke "Hanja" which is a mixture of the chinese characters and other hybrid characters. This was before Hangul was developed as a language during the Joseon Dynasty) so you often will find Chinese characters on envelopes and in other texts. I'm not sure why they do albums in japanese, mandarin and korean, but I believe it might contribute to the fact that all 3 cultures are intertwined (Korea even modeled Chinese Confucianism in the Ming Dynasty for their political society) Korea is kind of like a hybrid of both Chinese and Japanese, with a twist of their own.

I’m here because of the #StopAsianHate in the thumbnail. Thank you. It’s a low blow too that elderly people are being targeted because, as you may know, in Asia, ancestors, elderly, grandparents are respected to the highest degree. I appreciate this. I hope more people use their platforms for this. ありがとうございました. ☝🏼🌏

Much respect to the both of you and your family and friends! I support all of you 100% against Asian hate of any form or kind! It’s deplorable, intolerable, and completely breaks my heart! Only good vibes and love from this girl!! Some of my favorite BTS songs are their Japanese releases. They are beautiful songs such as Crystal Snow, Lights, Let Go, Stay Gold, and Your Eyes Tell to name a few. You can hear the difference in the language, but I think both Hangul and Japanese are both beautiful to listen to. BTS does both flawlessly! 💜

Since there are so many k-pop groups in Korea and the country is relatively small, they don't have market big enough to sustain all these groups so they branch out to other markets, one of those (the biggest and most profitable for k-pop groups) is Japan. There is a long tradition of k-pop acts promoting in Japan, releasing content exclusive for that market alone (like songs written I Japanese). BTS followed that tradition as well, releasing their title tracks in both languages (Korean and Japanese) - they even have separate MVs for their Japanese versions (check I Need You Japanese MV, Blood Sweat & Tears Japanese MV etc., there is LOADS of them but they get copyright strikes on YT so probably better to react to them elswhere), they also release full albums in Japanese where among many Japanese versions of their Korean songs they also have a few original Japanese tracks that are being promoted and performed ONLY in Japan. With Airplane pt. 2 - this was originally a Korean song from their "Love Yourself: Tear" 2018 album but got no MV in Korean - they released only a Japanese MV.

Yes its a latin inspired song. Kpop is a hit in Japan so its natural for kpop artist to do japanese versions of their songs. BTS learned Japanese and yes they can speak Japanese fluently especially V (bias) They also have songs that are released in Japan only, no Korean version like Let Go (one of my favorite BTS songs) and Crystal Snow where Jin did a triple belt high note. Super amazing. Japanese Army are the most respectful to for me. They give space to the boys and dont touch them unless its granted.

Nice to hear you guys speak out against racism and violence especially against the elderly. Let's show that we are against racism by speaking against it. No one deserves to be hurt physically or otherwise just because of being different from those perceived by many as superior. I have relatives in the USA and they are in a state with very few Asians. I hope they never get to experience racism in any form more than they already have experienced. Anyway, You should listen to Let Go. They were great as usual. It's also in Japanese.

South korea is a small country, so mostly they spread to the Japan and chinese market first. Bts and mostly other kpop idol fluent in 2-3 or more languange to expand their market. The closest and biggest is Japan. So mostly kpop idol fluent in Japanese and chinese too and now become so worlwide, they have to fluent in english too. So the boys actually fluent in japanese very well and some other languange too now.. we can hear them become better and better in english now.

When that sibling bond comes thru though lol. I love how you guys focus on positivity and didn't shy away from discussing racism on your channel. As a latina I've often had to deal with it and it is never acceptable. But the fact that they're targeting the elderly brings it to new levels of deparvity. My father's side of the family has lost 5 of our elders during the pandemic. (My dad is the youngest of 11) I can't tell you how much the family is mourning over their loss. The elderly should be cherished. Keep the good vibes going little brothers. We are so in need of it! Borahae!

I see that others have commented already and with over 500 comments you might not even see this, but I wanted to just add my 2 cents in on a few things that I didn't see covered. Japan is the SECOND music market in the world, so just behind the USA. Koreans have been looking to Japan and success there. Generation 2 kpop groups often went to Japan to live and learn the language and culture in order to communicate and build their Japanese fan base. Agencies tend to have fan bases set up solely for Japan as well as separate album and distribution and fans merch for Japan. Making it in Japan was a mark of success for when the groups then returned to Korea to promote. Since music is huge there, it is also a means of financial success as well with albums, concerts and fan meetings. Before BTS, no one even considered the #1 music market in the world as a possibility, so the same attention to was not paid to fan clubs, albums, songs, etc or the English language, let alone success in the USA underwriting success in Korea. While some acts tried to launch careers here complete with English language songs, they were not successful and they just lost money doing so. BTS changed all of that. The other things other people have said I won't repeat. I just wanted to add my 2 cents on this aspect I thought was missing. And thank you for sharing your heritage with us. It is such a scary time, but I hope it is a time where all forms of racism and xenophobia will be brought out into the conversations so that it can be examined and not hidden away, and then eradicated.

Thank you for talking about the issue these days.. Racism is a big NO-NO regardless of what nationality we are in. I believe that every person, every nationality has their own beauty be it in their culture or anything. Thank you gvg for standing against racism.. This is also what BTS is against. But sad to say this happens. But i think as long as there are people who fights against this type of discrimination against any nationality be it asian or not.. I think we could still spread some good vibes and make the world a better place 😊 Anyway... If you watch a lot of kdrama or anime you can definitely recognize the language 😊 even if you dont understand or dont know how to speak. All kpop artist who are promoting in japan always had a separate album in japanese collection of an original and japanese version of their korean songs. Im not sure but maybe that is how they can promote their songs and artists in japan...

Thank you guys for speaking about racism.. as a Filipina, it hurts to hear the news of my fellow asian being in fear of their lives. It hurts more to see that they mostly target the elderly people who could not fight back. As part of our asian culture, I am also raised beside my grandparents.. I remember sleeping beside my Lola (grandmother), who wouldn't allow a single mosquito to bite me when electricity is out at night. I miss my Lola.😢.. For those out there who experienced racism, please speak out, if you are threatened and racially discriminated please report it.. elderly Asian American people stated that racism has been present for a long time, it is just we don't report them.. voice out.. it's our right!! Thank you guys 😘 On the other hand, I believe Korean language is somewhat close to japanese and the boys are fluent with it.. pls also react to Crystal snow (japanese) of the boys... I really love the high notes, specially Jin's voice... His voice really suites the song... 💜💜💜

First and foremost, love from the african american community. If there is anyone who can relate to the hate that is going on, it's us. I for one do not condone hate against anyone, especially for their race, sexual orientation, skin color, or gender identity. I think the things that are happening are so ugly and hateful. Not to mention hurtful to our country as a whole. America is a mixing pot of diversity. It's what makes us America. People need to embrace those differences, not try to destroy them. I love you guys and what you stand for. That being said, back to our boys. You should really check out the live versions of this song. They are extra "swaggerific"😂. Good description btw😉 Borahae💜

Welcome to our world. There shouldn't be any kind of racism anywhere in the world. If anyone knows about racism, we are the Mexican people who have so many immigrants there in US and also with whom we share the border, and we are the "springboard" country for the majority of Latin immigrants. Fortunately, here in Mexico there is no such racism, on the contrary, we have a Korean and Japanese community and they are highly appreciated people in this country. Thank you for your comments about it. Enjoy BTS music in Japanese, I love their japanese songs. Love from Mexico City!!!

So glad to see you guys react to BTS Japanese song 🎵💜 The Japanese music market is the second largest in the world 🌎, next to the US. It's not uncommon for K-Pop Groups & solo artists to produce Japanese albums. The boys study Japanese 📖 on top of trying to learn English. Impressive! It has been said that Jimin is the most fluent Japanese speaker in the group. Jin is famous for singing his Japanese ballads. The fans in Japan just go nuts for him. There's something about the songs they write solely in Japanese. The language has such a smooth flow, and the lyrics are easy to sing on to if you are good at sounding out language phonetically. I hope this info helps you guys 💜
