Apparently what people told them back then not a bullshit bro. Kpop industry is pretty much controlled by the "big 3" which are yg, jyp and sm entertainment. All these huge agencies have a lot of very popular groups such as you know, blackpink, twice, exo whatever. BTS is from a very small, literally very small company called big hit entertainment. I mean no one even knew about the existence of this tiny agency before bts came out on 2013. Hundreds of groups debuting each year from various agencies. It's a miracle how bts got to stay in the industry, fyi there were also some groups that are as skilled as bts but got disbanded because they are not from a big agency and due to lack of broadcasting and fund. It took bts like 2 years to win number 1 at the weekly music shows. To tell you the difference, popular groups would just won the music shows right after their debut. Because they are too famous. Bts got their first music shows win after numerous albums was released in the span of 2 years. Thanks to the ARMY

Please react to Karma is an army video, there are part1 - part 4. Karma is an army are a very common terms among armys, u will understand it after u check these videos.

BTS never actually had to flyer for their concert. That scene is part of the show American Hustle Life where they had to perform at the end and go on the street to give out flyers for it, but in actuality they already had a lot of American fans and the venue was not big enough to fit all of them. They did have a bigger following internationally than they did in Korea cuz EXO was big at that time and their fans knew how to make other group's life hard. But they sure already were big in the US around 2015. It just wasn't in the news or something. I like these videos as a first introduction but it is a bit misleading tbh.
