It is the laziest critique ever and I comment on it every time I watch a video making the same uninformed claim. I feel that when people can't neatly place the sound of a k-pop song in one for their shallow categories they simply play the "westernized" card. And I for one believe that I have never been able to find that something that I hear in BTS' music in any American music -- and I listen to a lot of genres. Something about the way Bangtan's songs are produced are very different and special from anything I've heard, not to mention the messages are things I wish other artists everywhere would branch out and talk about.

One thing that I don't get is that people are so ready to accuse Bts all the damn time for being westernized while their faves aren't any different. For example BigBang is super westernized and yet no one says a single word about them. Actually they consider BB as kings of kpop. Exo has put a lot of western elements in their recent comebacks too and no one says anything AGAIN. I'm not gonna start with Ikon, Winner or Nct. So, why the hell is only Bts on the spotlight about this topic?? And don't come up with excuses like 'oh but that's yg style' or ' nct was made to have that kind of concept' cuz BigHit and Bts aren't any different either. Actually Bts used to be wilder , more hip hop and westernized in music before. Only cuz they are super famous internationaly and are the only korean group reaching that high in international music industry doesn't mean that they have become westernized. People say that BTS is westernised because of DNA. Listen DNA was one song in the style Future bass and EDM. They have never make EDM before. This is why the song was different, they have try one different style it is all. DNA seem like Kpop song that BTS song(if you see what I mean)but in Tear they have make Hip pop (their style of base). So this is why DNA is different they have try one new genre and what I see some are leave because EDM is not their taste. Like others group don't make EDM songs. They have just change the style and everyone is like"It is not the BTS", "DNA is different" yes maybe because it is EDM. For me they are not westernized if Emo, Neo Soul, Ballad, Electro, Rock, Ballad, Hip pop, RNB, Latin Pop, Jazz, House this is these style that they have used in Love Yourself era. When Blood sweat and tears dropped no one new it would be as big as it was in korea and in the us. Then DNA dropped and it REALLY blew up. BTS growth and success was ORGANIC. They blew up based on their talent. (Also they've never released a full english song because they said they didn't need to to make in the US. They were even pressured by people in America to write a full English album and bts said no. They stuck to who they were and it payed off. That's something big 3 companies need to understand. You can't copy BTS.
