Those criticising for “not going yet” are most likely antis & k-poppies, even the media, forgetting the contributions BTS have provided to their country as a whole. ARMY’s will support whatever direction these guys take. They will not lose any of the ARMYs who are truly & irrevocably supportive of them. ARMYs WIIL WAIT for these guys to come back as a complete group in 2025.

I think the scenes where Jin is walking down the street and getting bumped into, if you notice they don't even see him, they bump into him and react as if he's not there, noone looks at him, noone "sees" him. The only one in the MV that does is the little girl, who represents ARMY. And you know here and there in their lyrics BTS, and I think Jin a lot speaks of finally being "seen" by ARMY, their fans. And the gratitude and relief they feel for that.

DT if you had any idea how so much harder it is to do your training in the Korean army in the winter you would be in awe of the sacrifice he has made for us. I have seen a video of it and it’s horrendous. Jin hates the cold and is very susceptible to cold and the flu so he will also be risking his health. But as usual he was his unselfish self. I don’t believe for one moment they were influenced by the fact they might loose fans, from the start they said they would fulfil their duty. Anyone who knows anything about Jin knows he is the most traditional Korean with probably Jimin and to them it would not even cross their minds not to fulfil this duty. It would be ingrained in them. Their fathers did it and some of their brothers have, to them it’s a natural part of Korean life. Most Army sincerely hope that the government leave them alone in their enlistment and let them: live a normal life and not exploit them to do free concerts for them which will not benefit them BTS at all. Much as we would like to see them we will be patient trust them and wait as they have asked of us. 💜

He's really gone through the wringer over this military decision, but if anyone had ever paid any attention, they would have seen that HYBE and the boys were never behind the push for exemption. That was the Big 3 using BTS's name so that when backlash came, it would hit them instead of their boy groups. BTS has always said that they intended to go. Always. Yoongi even put it in a song. It's not fair that they as a group and Jin as a person caught hate because of actions that were never theirs in the first place. He stayed for us. We will wait for him. It's that easy. Koreans know from childhood. BTS has said this for the last few years that they always intend to go to the military and do their duty for the country they love. They have said they would ve honored to do it. It wasn't BTS trying to get out of it. It's the political government that as trying to because of loss of revenue. BTS has never shy away from it. People that blamed BTS are idiots but there are some out there trying to say they wanted to be exempted but that isn't the case. I thought it was obvious they were going to the military when they announced solo activities. I had this exact conversation with my cousin when she tried to tell me they were breaking up. I explained the mandatory military service and how other groups released solo stuff while other members were serving. I assumed BTS was doing the same formula. I know many people wanted them to join all at the same time and be done with it quicker. But I think it was much smarter business wise to stagger their military start time while at the same time giving them artistic freedom of solo work. It’s actually a genius plan.

My heart breaks because they've been planning to go since BE which is 2 years ago, yet people have still been dragging them (read: kpoppies, antis, kpop "journalism" etc.). Like they've known all this time, while everyone was busy debating whether or not they'll go, and they just had to stay quiet about their plans so that they wouldn't make ARMY cry during the Busan concert.

No DT a lot of people guessed they would be going to the military when they talked about the break during FESTA 😄 Maybe it didn't get to you but we were talking about it on Twitter. It's standard procedure for Korean artists, they've known they'll be going since they were children. And BTS has said multiple times that they will serve when the time comes. Agust D even talked about it in his lyrics. Other entertainment companies were trying to beg the government for exemption so that they could also get their artists exempted. There were 23 different companies present when there was a discussion with the government - basically everyone else EXCEPT BigHit. But the other companies were using BTS' name to get the exemption rules, so BTS were dragges in the media for "trying to avoid service". Also the Korean government has been coming up with all kinds of scenarios for alternative service because "loosing" BTS will be a significant loss to the economy there. Like continuing performances during military but having to donate all the proceeds to the gov. because they can't earn money. So happy they didn't listen to any if that nonsense and are just going like they've always planned.

I never doubted that they were preparing for military enlistment because Jin mentioned it during the interview that they will go if they are called to go. I trusted his words for that. The members are responsible Korean citizens who love their country and they know that it’s their duty to serve in the military when the time comes. Other people are just too careless to make insensitive comments on social media about BTS and others are just haters of BTS.

I had a convo with my close veteran Armys before we also had the same thoughts that they should have enlisted during the surge of the pandemic but then we also thought everything happens for a reason; from Dynamite's success down to this. When they first launched their own Instas, my Army friends and I already had a hunch that they will enlist soon. Everything does makes sense now, I'm so sorry for all the criticisms that they have endured. Screw the govt too to prolong the agony. Grateful for Jin for having the courage to open this up. He spoke to Chris about six months ago and July or August was the song arrived and Jin started recording in September. There are people who called themselves army still want BTS to go to military nor having no backbone and just jump on the band wagon, I don't think they are truly army, true army and true love will wait for the group no matter how long it takes. 2 years will fly by quickly we all save those money to go to all their concerts and buy up all the physical albums then lol. There was a lot of talk about enlistment back in June when Festa aired. It was the saddest part. RM talked about just wanting to be happy, free from the worlds problems, and Jimin said there was so much they wanted to tell us but they couldn't be honest all the time. They didn't want to leave us/each other, but they were committed to the path that had been set and it was unavoidable. I felt like they were mourning the end of their youth, and I was right there mourning with them, because even in 3 years time, things will never be the same. They wont be boys anymore. It's been really sad to see them being lonely in their solo content too. Like how much Hobi struggled without his members, and JK on his camping vlog. I understand why they are going, and I will wait for them, but Korea looks so bad in this entire situation imo. Giving out hundreds of exemptions a year, but somehow BTS is controversial? Give me a break. The hypocrisy is blinding.

I think you misunderstood what Jin said at the end. They didn't consider the criticism in joining the military. They had already decided to go to the military, but they were getting criticism because people thought they were trying to go. These guys have always had a sense of duty. They had planned to go since they finished "BE" which was 1.5 years ago. People were criticizing them beciae they hadn't announced when. So, it wasn't the criticism that made them go, as they were already planning to go.

They were never planning on getting exempt, their stance from the beginning has always been going to the military which never changed. It’s just the government that tried to use their name according to their convince.

This is what I love about BTS their transparency is another level.

I'm denial that they're preparing for enlistment on our last festa. Turns out I'm right. Jin talking about this openly is like a big burden was lifted off from his broad shoulder. And to think Coldplay knew it 6 months ago, wondering what could be his thought about those who are rushing Jin to go to army or asking Jin why is he isn't going to army yet.

“How long did they know they’re gonna enlist?” Well… since they were little kids. ALL KOREAN MALES by age of 30 have to enlist (with a few exceptions). Korean people look down on those who are healthy and try to avoid their duty. That’s why I think they never will accept a special treatment, they know that, that will haunt them forever. We army knew they were talking about military when they were in that table. As much as they were tired and confused about the roole they were playing in the world, we knew that Jin was in the age of going to the military and that things were different with the release of Yet to come and of course since butter and PTD they were acting different realising only two songs after years of doing albums and mini albums. They had no choice, the question was just a matter of WHEN, so they always had that in mind and were always making the preparations. We will never really know how each member feels personally about going and if they would each still go if it was voluntary and not mandatory. The issue of exemption was raised by the government not BTS and I was following it very closely. Based on how long it was dragged out and the stance of some of the government officials, complete exemption was not going to happen in my opinion. It was not just a "BTS" issue but in order to make it fair they were considering an amendment to the legislation and that's a major thing. Special provisions or arrangements seemed more likely and may still be likely but I agree with you on the point that they made a calculated decision on the best way forward in order to preserve the brand and stay loyal to their fans.

I don't know if you'll read this, but as a K-army, I want to explain further Bangtan's military problem was very complicated because it was intertwined with political issues Korean right-wing and left-wing politicians wanted to use them free of charge on condition that they would grant BTS a military exemption BTS' military exemption bill has helped make politicians' names get popular, while BTS and k-fans suffer One of the reasons why politicians wanted boys was that their existence is very helpful to the Korean economy, but the main purpose was for politicians to use bts for their use. In fact, the current Korean government (right wing) is actually the same government that made Bangtan to make songs like spring day, am i wrong.(you'll understand what i mean........) As soon as the president was elected, South Korea's right-wing politician visited Hybe and pressured them and a sudden tax investigation rushed in....... Bangtan was forced to do the Busan Expo after after a year of persuasion (as mentioned in an interview by the mayor of Busan), and politicians visited Bangtan's parents to persuade them. Malicious articles about BTS were poured out for years, and BTS and Korean fans suffered severly. On Every day BTS received the award, malicious military-related articles poured out online so it was hard to celebrate. At that era, lots of ppl became a fan but also lots of old fans left because they couldn't take those bullshit.. Btw,In other words, BTS has refused for a year Bangtan was under political pressure because the city's hosting of the Expo was also a national task for the South Korean government(the right wing that almost blacklisted bts years ago). Forced to perform free at unprepared areas, Hybe and BTS paid 7 billion won at their own expense. At that time, fans couldn't understand why BTS and the company paid the full price for the concert. Because of that, BTS was misunderstood as colluding with the government..but now i can understand that they wanted to be "perfectly separate from the government" Even if it was to promote the expo, it would have been impossible for BTS to join the army immediately after the concert if they used tax money for the concert. BTS and the company spent more than 7 billion won(about$6million ) on their own, but thanks to that, they don't have to be involved with the government. BTS has done promotions for Korea and concerts for fans-especially Korean fans who haven't had a proper concert in three years They did not give in to the Government. As soon as BTS revealed their plan for the enlistment, the Busan city mentioned its "sorry to hear that and they wanted bts to do more promotions but failed" So what about The Ministry of National Defense? They opposed bts' military exemptions on the grounds of "equity." But did they really oppose military exemptions for equity? The answer is no The Ministry of National Defense signed a "military-related tourism contract" with Nonsan City And they said they want BTS tour the world's "military musicals" if they "joined the army together." The ministry will then pay $400 a month to boys and be able to use them like a circus animal to perform every day. I think the reason why BTS is joining the army separately is because they are trying "not to be used." Korean fans wanted Bangtan to join the army in peace and normalcy. Celebrities' military exemptions are a very sensitive issue and fans did not want "special treatment." But Korean fans are very anxious. We will continue to keep an eye on the government and the Ministry of National Defense . I hope the boys can finish their military service normally. And i hope when k-armys raise their voice to protect boys like we did to change the location of the Busan concert for the safety issues(* i bet you all noticed how fucked up Korean government is now by the incident that just happened...............), hope you i-fans to support with us.

In the midst of the debates going on about enlistment back then, the gov did pass a bill right before Jins 28th birthday to extend his waiting period and every member used that bill two years ago. A new president took over and the ministry of defense revealed recently this year that they would make a decision about Bts before Jins upcoming 30th birthday- many speculated they were waiting to see how people responded to the Busan Expo to influence their decision. As expected the world expo was a big success but as you see hybe revealed Jin had decided he would apply to revoke his extension which was something the ministry of defense completely did not expect according to them and it made them look bad to the public, it was even revealed Jins decision was burdensome to them- plus he hasnt applied to revoke it yet but the government has to actually approve of this when that happens. The kicker here is that the new president that was elected after Moon turned out to be involved in some corrupt dealings and many suspect he wasn't even fairly elected. Now there are protests going on to punish him. If Jin and BTS had been exempted under his approval, it would have looked really shady- so Jins decision came right on time as every news network and their citizens are praising Jin, and this was right before the Presidents corruptness came to light. We dont know what will happen in the future concerning shorted service or altered , but no one can accuse him of being a puppet to the current regime and in the last regime it was clear even if they werent outright saying it, they were willing to consider exemption otherwise they would have never given the extension.

They would never "loose fans" if they didn't go. Come on now. The people hating on them would always hate them period. Army, Real army, would have supported them no matter what they decided. Go OR NOT. Just the "others" (fans of other groups, political figures, media PAID by other groups, professional haters) would have had shit to say. But they ALWAYS do. No matter what

There were a lot of people back in June who knew it was about the military... we knew that it was, but we also understood that they couldn't say it directly because so much, including HYBE investors, fans, etc. would go hysteric (which happened post-Festa).

Of course they want to go to the military service, in Korea the Honor is a very big thing, they live next to North korea with a real possibility of war, they listened their grand parents and parents talk about this responsability about the army all their lifes, it's normal they want to go in fact all male members in their families went there before. It's a Honor and a responsability.

DT, I don't know if I could take the other member singing the song to Jin. I get unto my feels every time I hear it knowing that he had ARMY in mind when this song was written and that he will be leaving at some time to go into the Army, It would be TOO emotional for me. I think it's good thing that they didn't go to army during Covid. They uplifted so many people with their songs and performances. 💜

The Tannies have been saying that they were willing and even excited to serve for their entire career, even when they weren't supposed to mention it. The behind video for the 'Dope' MV in particular has Jin stating that he wanted to have a military career before being scouted and Yoongi also mentioned that he had given it serious thought, which was why he was a bit excited to wear the uniform for the MV. Jimin has also implied that he wanted to be a police officer as his form of service (military police is an option). Meanwhile everyone else has waded in with their own opinion about whether BTS should enlist or not - both internationals and South Koreans alike. From media, other idols, unaffiliated music industry companies, government officials, financial advisors, culture and tourism sectors, business sectors to discharged soldiers and, naturally, fans. We got governmental debates lasting over 2 years, public opinion polls planned but later scrapped, a 'wait-and-see-if they win a Grammy' approach TWICE, made diplomats as a form of 'service' that might be counted towards exemption at a later date, laws created allowing extensions and/or exemptions to name a few - but NO ONE asked for their opinion. These boys were raised with the understanding that this would be a part of the natural course of their life as a South Korean male. It is a source of pride for them to serve their country in this way. They have all been seen taking their physicals to ensure they are fit to serve since 2019. They never once asked to be exempted themselves, merely taking extensions given to ALL citizens that attend university. Even the 'special considerations' they were given were not accepted easily (surely we all remember the palpable panic of the government when they realised that the Tannies hadn't done the paperwork required with the deadline looming!). The 'unfairness' that Jin referred to was more likely due to the fact that they were being criticised when they weren't even a part of the conversation. It wasn't a question of 'losing fans' - if anything it was that they are acutely aware of the fact that they are the role models of their generation and wanted to lead by example - as they have done from the very beginning. Everyone still seems to think they have a choice. They don't. It's MANDATORY service. The 'BTS law' was squashed by protests from other music companies saying it's standards were too unrealistic to meet (even though BTS had!). Idols, as a rule, can barely even decide when they go. This talk of 'going all together' is, quite frankly, not up to them. The military decides who they want to take when and in what capacity. The military police, for example, has a very hard exam to pass to be accepted into. Previous idols have tried and failed multiple times. The intake numbers are fixed and if there's too many the younger ones will have to wait regardless. Why do you think everyone's been panicking so much? To be confident about a 2025 comeback shows just how important BTS is to their country. But why the panic in the first place though? Kpop is notoriously a hard and fast industry with 'comebacks' every 6 months being the norm. Bands are easily forgotten and replaced (not true for everyone but you get my meaning). Not in the West. We can go years without an album drop or new single from our favs so it's not the same for us as it is for K-ARMY. BTS knows this. These guys have been planning their exit strategy for years - you really think they don't have 100s of hours of footage they can release stored away at the very least? Most RUN episodes are filmed almost a year in advance for example. Hopefully such things will keep us from feeling their absence too keenly! They already planned to enlist after BE album, but things happened. It's not because of the backlash that they enlist. The backlash happened after the enlistment plan when gov kept using them for discussion. There is no calculation like you said. Most of us know what the Festa was about because they never care about solo projects.

I think it's less of a WANT to go to the military but more of a want to fulfill the obligation and stop the stalling and the conversations and the government seesaw.

All the Bts members have never once said that they would not do military service!!! I think, just my opinion, their government was leaning towards an exemption but put Bts in a situation waiting for an answer from the government. Of course not being able to say something one way or another left Bts with horrible comments via internet. In conclusion if the government just gave them an answer yes or no earlier, I agree with Jin...let their fans know! ✌💜💜💜

Sorry but for me it was evident that they were going to the army. All male kpop groups start solo activities because of the military service and also at that time jin said that his album will be the last one (it was a hint that he was going to enlist for me). It was pretty obvious.

You didn't understand anything DT. In bts plans there was always the intention of going to military service, it has nothing to do with losing their fans.

Actually they couldn't get exemption and they wouldn't be able even if they wanted. SK gov was giving us so much hope, they even asked Korean public if they are okay with BTS exemption and many people said "yeah, they did so much for Korea" but even after that SK gov said that if they change things for BTS, they would have to do it for others in the music industry and they can't do it. They also wanted to give BTS more "freedom" in the military (like them being able to perfom, have concerts) but that would also means giving profits to gov.

I actually think that the FESTA video was not subtle at all, i think ARMYs have foreseen from the get go that the boys were hinting about enlistment. If you remember Jimin was talking about wanting to be completely honest, but is very conflicted because there are just certain things they have no control over. Enlistment has always been a very sensitive topic for them, because they have always been very vocal about wanting to go. However, it has always been because of what the government, knetz, and antis think that makes it worst for them.

The fact that Jin is enlisted makes me so sad

About the thing of them being exempt, i think they just couldn't wait anymore for the government decision, this was taking to much time, tbh i think the government allowed bts to do the expo busan concert to test them with their influence and then decide, but imagine bts contributed with all of what happened to busan during the concert time and in the end they just decide to not exempt them? bts did the decision for themselves and i'm glad for it, in a way is sad because they get so much criticism for doing what everyone else does. People be saying bts wanted to escape the military but in the end they always wanted to go, they never denied that, people just like to shit on them for no reason, their success makes everyone jealous.

One other pressure is about the sake of those in popular cultural arts, compared to classical or sports who often exempted. BTS is the only hope to be eqally treated as contributors so they can open the door for them. This is the reason they had to wait and not shoutout. They have too much burden on their shoulders.😭😭😭

I think Korea is jealous of BTS overall….it’s why they did not defend them that much for the exemption only internationals truly have them in heart ..I’m sure 1 million petitions at the blue house would already help them or protest…these k ARMYs only voices their rage when it’s about dating or tattoos…trivia things indeed..but when it’s really serious there is nobody..It’s sad

I agree that they wanted to go to the military services but I don't think that any fans are saying that they have to go. I watch an opinion poll on KZfaq and they said that a small community which is mainly older people and the other KPOP companies and Antis are those people of their own country , they wanted BTS to serve their country for different reasons. And some K MEDIA and some other KPOP COMPANIES and a lot of Antis saying these opinions or statements whatever you wanna call them cause they are thinking that when BTS are away for 2 or 3 years some other groups might be able to take over BTS spot and some other group might be next BTS but they didn't even have any idea or maybe they don't want to except the fact that there will be no next BTS in this century. BTS is always BTS and their Army is only BTS Army and we will wait for BTS forever. Atleast for me I don't think i was able to love any other group the way I love BTS. No DT they cannot negotiate DT that is not how it worked. Even the officials were fighting each other at the committee. It is not about losing fans they decided because it is the duties the law is not passing for them. The new president is not fonding and appreciate like the old president. There also the minister of defense who adamant that they got have to go, and also seoulite tv and other venue had make petitions to stop them from going to. The defense ministry wanted to use public poll to decided to go with public opinion and when 60% came back said BTS should be exempt and need not to go then the government went back on their own guideline terms and did not use that poll using the excuses that the voters on that poll that pro BTS to NOT going were young people who selfishly decide that so the government officials just really dishonest. It is honorable that Jin decided to go but they don't have the choice. He was not able to talk about it because it was not announce that but now after the announcement of course he can talk about it now. BTS always honest about their feelings, it is their company that preventing them from sharing but Jin known for breaking the company's rules because he is Jin Hit Entertainment lol.

Idk I thought it was pretty obvious they were telling us not to expect group activities with all members bc of their enlistment. The timing added up with Jin's time running out until he's 30. Also, joining during covid right when it started would have been probably really bad ngl. My husband was in Korea in the military when it was still spiking over there and the restrictions were horrible.

not that they "want to" go to military. In Korea, all able bodies of men's have to go, regardless of his will, otherwise, they think its a betrayal to their country and all mens there. But the people can plan to go on which time slot to enlist

Think They were being harassed by haters about why they weren’t joining the military… they were just tired of the government playing games with their lives, plus the constant bombardment of hate comments coming from everywhere, including some from Army. Think they should change the military system… make it like American military: professional military and the reserve military… which the reserve military is for athletes, classic musicians, government workers, Kdrama and K-pop stars train for couple months, then meet up every other weekend until their service is up|two years is up. This way no one’s personal life is totally disarrayed and there is no loss to their life’s work.
