I think this song talks about them seeing the pain in the world and wanting to do SOMETHING...so they sing. I think they feel called to use their status as the biggest band in the world to try to heal the pain. And that's exactly what they do. I don't know how many people I've seen (myself included) that have said that BTS pulled them out of a depression and inspired them to be better. "If it's not us, okay, who's going to do it?"

It depends on the context, during a concert it's indeed difficult and unlikely, however, during the Festa or Muster, it's possible. Jungkook talked about it, saying that they could perform it.

RM has mentioned in the past that they treat the rap parts as a version of Hegelian Logic, which involves Thesis, Anthithesis and Synthesis. Which means that each rapper is approaching a topic from a different perspective than the others. So every song has at least 3 different perspectives baked in. Actually, make that 4 perspectives because often the vocal line will have a 4th line of input that's intertwined but still distinct from the rap parts. That shit blows my mind.

Louder than Bombs is a masterpiece. They have never used such sounds in any other songs. I still remember when it first came, and I listened to it without lyrics, I had felt something strong spreading in my heart. Like it was a magical feeling. This song just strucks. Then when I read the lyrics, it had reduced me to tears (having been a part of BTS journey for too long, I have seen people doing them dirty for no reason... That is why It just hit me like a truck) I thought the whole stadium will cry when they perform this live, but they never did 🤧 Well it's understandable that it's hard, technically singing too and emotionally too. You know there's a fun story related to it too. Recently BIGHIT (BTS company Hybe) asked us (army) to vote for a song as an "wild card entry" in god knows what they are doing. We collectively chose Louder Than Bombs, only for them to again put it in a poll against "Blood Sweat & Tears" and "We are Bulletproof: The Eternal". We lost against Blood Sweat & Tears 😭😭 Bighig did us so Dirty but at the end it was kind of funny too 🤭 Btw "Fighting" (as koreans say to cheer someone). You'll get through all the hurdles as BTS say 💜 Also if you want similar songs where BTS are just comforting fans and listeners... You can check out : 2!3! We are Bulletproof: Eternal Magic shop Mikrokosmos Paradise Tomorrow Thankyou for reacting to them ✨

Oh yeah, Paradise is one of the best songs there ahh, my top 3, we only have JK vlive version... "Pluto" was also only performed once and "We are bulletproof the eternal" was only one time singed live, ehhh this it big lose for humans, I'm joking (only a little) but there are song that you would love see and hear but it never happened, never will or happened ones and never again. Like "Sea" ahhh the best hidden track in world and songs from MOTS7 most was performed only 2 times bc concert online had 2 days but it is all and it is soo sad when I think about Jamis vu, Ugh, Shadow, Friends, My time or Respect. Etc... Or "Fly to my room" I also remeber only one time, but "Stay" was in the last 7 concerts performed, I'm happy that they perform "Dis-ease" and "Telepathy" I was woried they become this kind of songs that we never would see, but yeah they play them, good.

This song is a turning point on the album. The beginning of the song acknowledges the shadow, alludes to the mask we all wear (smiling when we're not happy inside). Jung mentions to get to the shadow we break thru and integrate. Louder than bombs we break. (And the imagery of breaking waves - gosh their lyrics). Then we are in this darkness, nothing'er than nothing, but RM and JHope says we don't give up. They continue their message from the previous album Speak Yourself. Louder Than Bombs I Say. Then with Suga's verse you start feeling the motivation switching. Who is going to say it if not them? If BTS shadow was doubt or fear of the fame why are they in this game (which they picked)? They realized at this point that they have to do this, they must continue. They'll be our voice, our support. Louder Than Bombs I Sing.

This song is one of my absolute favorites on MOTS:7 but also overall. When you play it late at night, with good headphones on, atmosphere you get immersed in is INSANE. Suga´s low growl-y distorted verse is a highlight of the whole song for me, easily. Really dark, dark, dark and so intensely real. Louder than bombs has never been played live, and funny thing is, when they run a survey among Army that BTS was aware of, asking us what song was our biggest wish to hear love, Louder than bombs scored easily highest. BTS themselves were low key shocked , lol.

LOUDER THAN BOMBS tells a story of how sadness and fear grow as a person encounters pain/struggles in life. RM particularly shared about relating to ARMYs letters, comments and posts in social media who expressed themselves when feeling down and seeking comfort and being grateful to Bangtan as they became a huge role to motivate strength, acceptance and love. He imagined that during concert tours, fans share the fun with them but he realized that beyond those faces are fragile lives who have different stories to tell and fans count on their songs and presence. As for BTS, who encourages everyone to ''speak yourself/ourselves" (from their voices of reasons in many ways) the message or rather, main inspiration of the song is that, they are going to continue to listen to our stories and will never stop singing for us, while we speak ourselves.

also this is just my personal observation on rm’s genius lyrics. in the first verse he says “Baby I’m nothin’er than nothin’ Lighter than the light” which means he thinks of himself so little, so unimportant that he thinks he’s even lighter than the light - something that doesn’t even have any weight. but then in the second verse ha says: “But you say I’m somethin’er than somethin’ Brighter than the light” which means it’s the fans that reminded him that things are not always to be seen from one perspective. for the fans, when we compare him to the light he seems brighter. and those voices also said: “don’t you give up your life”. his verse always hits me deep and leaves me breathless. he said so much in so little words, it’s brilliant. he’s truly once-in-a-lifetime lyricist.

As I see it, this song is a direct message from BTS to ARMY. They sing about how they see the pain that ARMY is feeling behind their smiles and cheers and they reflect it in their own darkness. RM says "Don't you give up your life," because there are many people who have said that BTS' songs have helped them get through some very dark times in their lives and without those songs and without BTS, they might not have survived (me included, they saved my life). RM says that he's "nothin'er than nothin" but we say that he's "somethin'er than somethin'," and he doesn't really know what he's doing. He wonders if they are doing the right thing. Yoongi says that if they don't step up and sing for ARMY, then who will? Jimin points out that they chose this as their career. They end the song promising to continue to sing, for ARMY and each other. Because they realize how much their music means to us. Also, while exploding bombs are extremely loud, the BTS light sticks are referred to as ARMY bombs. A survey was done on Weverse and one of the questions that was asked was which song did we want to see live, on stage. Louder Than Bombs was what had the highest number of votes. They made a game out of the guys trying to guess how ARMY answered the questions but the guys were all surprised when Louder Than Bombs was # 1. RM promised that we would get a live stage for this song, since we wanted it so much, though he admitted that the song is an incredibly difficult one for the vocal line to perform. We all really, really wish we could get the performance, still, since this song means so much for a lot of us.

I am never ready for this song it’s like they pulled this one from a deep place. I often think of how closely they monitor the fandom and how seeing the pain of Armies around the world makes them desperate to give us more of themselves be louder than haters than pain. It’s vocally almost too high a range to sing live but we keep begging for it.

when suga said "they say they are jealous of us, the pain I have is called hypocrisy" "no matter what I do, I roll in filth, if its not us, who would do it?" and in their other song "ugh" suga also mentioned it an response to the haters/people who are jealous of them and whenever bts or any celebrities complain about anything in life, the haters would said "you have money what are you complaining about" and call it hypocrisy as in artist like BTS shouldn't feel pain and suga mentioned having OCD, and dealing with depression there is comments on articles saying "why are you depressed? You have money?" also in their song called ugh,: Suga uses a sarcastic voice to portray the haters themselves saying "If your in pain, why don't you give it to me" as in the haters would themselves handle artists' problems better and not get effected by hate comments/ death threats etc. And suga said: You are not me, if you haven't experience it, you don't know what's it like. And the line here in the song "I roll in filth/ BTS roll in filth" as in because there is so little asians representatives right now, any asian hate etc, BTS would get shit for it. And the line "If it's not us, the who would do it" as in truthfully, bts is the biggest artist right now who is asian there is no other groups/celebrities that are on BTS level right now so if BTS dont do anything, "who's going to do it?"- suga

This song, one of my favorites and one of the best in my opinion, for me it symbolises the moment where they "OVERCAME" the deep insecurity and pain they've had, perhaps around the point(s!) when the fame umped up again and again and they felt scared, and hurt by ways they were being treated on the other side. They start this song off by BREAKING louder than bombs and, having trouble believing "better days will come". In the mid song they acknowledge we got here together and we feel all the good and bad together and regretting those moments before when they turned away from us when everything is too much. They end by promising to us that they will withstand it all together with us and they will continue SINGING louder than bombs. It is a confession and promise to us. (Plus, everything about the arrangement, the production, is amazing. Yoongi starting his verse low, then rising into more intensity and a bit of anger, and the sudden jump to vocal line's SKY HIGH Louder than bombs I sing. I just love really heavy (sonically) songs and this is perfect.)

This is one of my favorite songs along with Paradise and Spring Day. ☺️ The first time I listened to this song without the lyrics it makes me feel like impotence or helplessness (I don't know how to say it in English) but that kind of feeling when you want to change or do something but you aren't able because of different circumstances. Then I read the lyrics, specially the end and it gives me hope; as song progresses through each chorus, you can feel how despair turns into light. For me, it's always a good time to listen Louder Than Bombs, I hope one day BTS sings it along with Paradise. 💜💜

Honestly I feel like this song is something of a love letter. To both armys and bts themselves. As much as we want to only show positive emotions and happiness to the tannies I can imagine they want to do the same to us. As Namjoon said in Persona ''The world isnt interested in my clumsiness'' I imagine they feel like that a lot, that they feel like they should only show their happy sides and hide all the hurt and pain as to not make us sad. And well we do the same as well we hide all of our daily pains and pretend everything is okay and ''cheer'' for them. It is a bit heartbreaking to me the fact that they ''learned that one facial expression does not mean that''' and that they see ''the shadows behind the shouts and cheers''. I wish for them to be as happy and carefree as possible and to see our pain and troubles affect them makes me want to be even more positive for them XD. It's an endless cycle I'm afraid. Also why I said this is a love letter to themselves as well is because they have promised ''that the days when they looked away from us and ran away no longer exist'' and that they will no longer hide all their negative emotions. I'm aware of the magnitude of that promise, of being more honest with us, is. Itps a big step deciding to show your true self and all the ugly sides as well. But showing your true self and it being accepted completely no matter what... What is love if it isn't that? Also I have mentioned some of these songs before but if I may I'd like to see a reaction to ''First love'' ''So far away'' and ''The last''. Also if you decide to give ''The last'' a try please have someone fill you in about a couple of specific events that Yoongi mentions in the song. I checked doolset and I think they removed that part but there are a couple of thing he mentions that I believe some background to understand the song is very important. . Also the ''beep'' sound. i think everything about this song is already said in the comments so i won’t say too much, but i just want to say how much i appreciate the way bts are always reminding us that they care and they see us. not like a bunch of fans, but as individuals and humans with personal lives and struggles. they gave us many comforting songs to thank us for staying with them (2!3!, magic shop, answer: love myself, we are bulletproof the eternal etc) but this one takes on that theme from a much darker perspective. i think they’re still acknowledging our pains and sufferings, along with theirs, taking it all in and at the end concluding that no matter how tough the things may seem we didn’t “pick this game” by accident, aka we’re not just staying here bc of some superficial things but because of who they are and what we’ve been through together. the most important conclusion comes at the end: “I promise to you and myself No matter what kind of waves strike, we will endlessly sing towards you Louder than bombs I sing” no matter how loud the hate is, our bond will always be louder💜

that's such an amazing song from the Map Of The Soul:7 album and it fits perfectly to the theme of journey to your true self too! the way i see it, first verse is a point of hurt and said by bts to each other or army. "Your silent sorrow shakes me", "The facial expression you made - since the time I learned that it’s not what it meant" or if adapting the translation: "since I learned that the smile you showed me does not mean your happiness". They all have their own internal struggles and it's hard to open up even if you have 6 best friends. It may be just a habbit to keep everything to yourself, like Tae once said he usually doesn't talk about his own concerns, or the way to protect other boys, like Jin once said that he tried to be positive and fun to lift others up, but he also has his time of feeling down and depressed. This part reminds me a lot of Outro: Tear, a song about their possible disbandment that they were considering because the rapidly increasing fame was scaring them. the song is from 2018 and they are reflecting on that past time. the quote for example: "Goodbye that ended up coming to me is what I deserve at the end of my playacting full of lies. If someone turned back time for me, could I maybe have been more honest? My bare face that only I know, and my ugly and humble old friends within myself, Could you have still loved me with the smile you used to make looking at me". They were going through pain, they were breaking louder than bombs the second verse is a process of accepting the way their lives have changed, finding again what they want to achieve and who they want to be, and kind of sharing it together without closing off, because honestly they are the only people in the world who can truly understand each other just because their shared experiences are super unique. from the last Vogue interview i want to include this: "It might just be because I’m young, but I find it hard to open up to friends other than fellow BTS members,” says Jimin. “I often feel pretentious, and I don’t like it. It’s nice to be able to be completely honest when talking to other members.” and the lyrics: "Sorrow and pain, they are never a coincidence, Yeah we picked this game. Louder than bombs I say, I will say in front of the world, The times when I looked away from you, the days when I kept running away - they will no longer exist". in some sence i see bts's path as a path of opening up. it's not that they've been fake before, no, they were sincere, but they were hiding their shadow: the pains, the fears, the struggles, the anxieties, the pressure - more often than not because they don't want to burden us with it. but with time they were more and more often coming to us with the words "we shouldn't hide these things, we should be honest about both good and bad" the third verse shows them standing firm and confident again, with a new found determination and mission for their music. At this point they have fully accepted the gigantic influence they own now, so "If it’s not us, okay, who’s going to do it?". And they promise to sing for us forever

Interesting analysis thank you! I hadn’t thought about “bombs” maybe also being meant literally as well as metaphorically, so the song being about all different kinds of tragedy in the world? Since ARMY (and the world in general) is so big, we all have different struggles in our lives, and they see and recognise our pain and want to endlessly sing towards us to help and protect us. I hope they perform it live some day, though I know RM said it’s a very difficult song to sing. I was really excited when I first found out this was written by Troye Sivan (an australian singer), since he was the reason I first found out about BTS. Jungkook is a huge fan of his and always used to mention him in interviews as a dream collaborator, and JK and RM once sang a cover of troye’s song fools - which was my first time hearing their voices :) so it was nice to find out they actually worked together several years later.

There’s something that doesn’t make sense that was believed in my culture and did calm me a lot. It is “we choose to be born.” Before we’re born while in our mother wombs, an angel will come and told us the the choices and events that we will face. The one that change us, the thing that we can change and the things that we will not. The prize of holding on, work on something and let go of things. And if we agrees to be born, we will. If not our mother will lost us in early age or in her womb. Whenever I felt stressed out, I just remind me. I choose to be born, that fetus me had see something could be used as my way out of sorrow. Like 22 in soul. I want to feel happiness of what life can offer, and was okay with the problems I must face. Maybe for the hope of heaven also. And as BTS says, I pick this game.

I'm really glad you liked that song too! 🥰 it's one of my favorites! Personally I think of it as a sleeper song... if it gets mainstream, I believe it will or would be trending. I'm like you in liking the way the vocal line and rap line shared this together! It always gives their music so much more depth! 👍🙃🥰 enjoyed your reaction👍 thank you for your time😊

I saw yesterday or day before on Twitter, Bighit was doing some kind of poll and louder than bombs was one of the songs up for voting to be on the new album, if I understood it correctly. Anyways, they said louder than bombs had the most votes and won the spot! Plz do not quote me on this bc my second hand info may not be entirely correct. But I hope I'm right!! 🥰🥰🥰👍💜💜💜💜

Hi Bryan 👋so happy to see you react to Louder Than Bombs and I was right in my suspicion this would be one you'd particularly enjoy. 😀 I absolutely love this song!! It's definetly high on the list as one of my BTS favourites. It's amazing to listen to in headphones / with good speakers, it's so atmospheric and I just love the production on it with the harmonised haunting vocals and uniqueness every one of their voices bring to the song. To me it's a mental health song and a song for ARMY. I think its about not just difficulties / terrible things going on in the world externally but also what goes on in your own mind / other people's minds. I love how the chorus line changes from 'louder than bombs I break' to 'louder than bombs I say' to ' louder than bombs I sing' To me it is a sad, realistic but empowering song. It moves through emotions, reflecting on the self and others and ends on a positive note. There's a lot of great lyrics. I love ' In the quiet sea of mine, waves rise from time to time, louder than bombs I break' I love the analogy of thoughts and emotions being like sea waves rising and then crashing or 'breaking'. It acknowledges that the way someone appears outside doesnt always reflect how they feel inside. Its so powerful. I always love how J-hope says the line 'mute' as well with such emphasis and there is what seems to be a deliberate break in the song like silence (or muteness) before it continues. It makes me think of how silence can be seen as deafening ( louder Than bombs) and again I feel like this is feelings and emotions, being stuck in your own head. It's also like you can be sitting in silence but have so much going on in your own mind. But again I love that it ends with a positive encouraging message. To me its generally saying were all different, but the same, were in this together / you can do this! 💜😌 They say at the end 'louder than bombs I sing' and I think this part is personal to them and shows it's a message for ARMY, its like singing is their superpower, so they are no longer ' breaking' like at the begining of the song, they are now 'singing' louder than bombs. But I think when you listen and you hear them say 'louder than bombs I sing' you can see this as an analogy for anything else powerful / empowering to you personally and a way of overcoming adversity. Anyway I hope this makes sense - this is the thoughts this song gives me and how I can best describe what it means to me.😁

These are some other really good songs from BTS that might suit your taste, a bit heavier sound with more base, nice mix of rap and vocal lines. As well as a couple of classics to analyse, (Daeng and Silver Spoon) :

This song was written six years before release and wasn't specifically for any artist. It had a different title. I wonder if someone who chose the title was familiar with Louder than Bombs by the Smiths ( hope not, it's so bloody miserable!)

Many of the comments go into more explaining of the meaning of the song, so I'm not going to repeat all of that. I just wanted to say that ARMY has never heard BTS perform this song but Big Hit/Hybe did a survey and asked ARMY a bunch of questions about BTS songs. One of the questions was "What song would you most like to see BTS perform on stage?" Louder Than Bombs got the most votes .BTS were really surprised when they found that out, but they promised that they will perform it for us since we want it so much. The song isn't on the upcoming Proof album, though, so who knows?

By the way an offtopic comment but do you know/listen to Iron Maiden? It's the band I was a fan of during my youth (from childhood really) and they bring the storytelling into their albums that's really enjoyable too. (Or you might know them but not like them hahah it's fine either way).
