I love that your mom was drawn in by the traditional Korean dancing . Their performance paid amazing respect to Korea and I love seeing how proud your mom was. They were amazing!! As an American it makes me want to visit and learn about Korea even more .

Seeing your mom really getting into the performance, seeing all the traditional dances and culture... it made me realize, our parents in general, no matter what country they are from, they miss and love their cultures but they don't say it out loud because of so many numerous reasons: us wanting to be more modern, the word criticizing said culture and traditions, etc... IDOL is a perfect message of Speak Yourself: show yourself, speak your mind and be proud of who you are and where you came from. I'm so happy BTS came out with this performance to show how fine and beautiful some traditions, how we can fit them into our modern life without having to lose them completely in order to fit in. My daughter got me into BTS in October (she only started listening to them in September). We're both currently learning Korean because of their music and the awesome fandom. We got such a kick out of watching your reaction with your mom. We stayed up all night to watch the livestream (you were right; it was streamed) and we too got goosebumps. We actually started to cry watching your reactions. I especially wanted to watch this reaction video because your mom was there and I knew she'd love the Idol performance. Loved your Mom's reaction. I am 62 and went to see Burn the Stage with my 37yo daughter and my granddaughters, ages 8 and 11. At our house there is no limit on the age of KPOP listeners, Glad your Mom also explained some of the Korean references.

This performance hands down the best performance of century. I felt proud when i saw they include the korean traditional dance and theme to their performance. We didn't really see this kind of performance these days which they showcase their origin. But i gotta say bts change that.. they are promoting their culture very well.. im amazed 👏👏👏👏 im not korean im from singapore and my race do have culture similar like traditional dancing and traditional music instrument so i felt proud the whole world get to witness this 👍👍

Welcome to the ARMY mom I am also an older fan in 65 and from Australia. You are right it was streamed and we got a couple of hiccups in the feed. This was the best performance by any group that I have ever seen. You can also see that they love Korea and are extremely proud to be Korean. They got me so interested in Korea that I started watching K-Drama and historical K-Dramas I retire soon and I'm planning on going to Korea on holiday for 2 months your country is so diverse and has so much to offer both in old and new things. This was at the Gocheok Dome

Your mom is so sweet. I really enjoyed her reaction to Idol intro. I think this performance was the perfect reply to anybody saying that BTS became to westernized and underestimated their influence. They're Korean culture ambassadors, period. Anybody that doesn't understand why they got the Hwagwan medal and turns a blind eye to tons of westerners learning Korean because of BTS, can just watch this performance.

I’ve been learning about it for like 7 years and I still don’t feel like I’ve scratched the surface of such a beautiful culture. Also...Too many people are saying BTS have become westernized. I hope this puts a lid on those rumors.

FYI- Idol was written with popular Korean traditional beats and phrases... that's why the Idol music video shows them in Hanbok with traditional background scenes. So this performance was more elaborating on that original Idol music theme.

This is so sweet. 😥 As a black American, I can kind of relate to how exciting it can be to see your culture being broadcast on the international stage. That's how I felt watching Beyonce online at Coachella as I recognized certain traditions that I've participated in over the years.

I brought out my parents to watch this and they were seriously impressed by how they properly showed our culture on the stage. They were so proud and excited seeing it.
