I will tell you, because I am semi fluent in sign language, the move they do with the peace signs, means permission and the hand movement with the up-side down 'v' to the flat hand means dance

It's probably more accurate to think Mr. Bang predicted his group would be THAT BIG, and chose 7 members bc they would end up taking over the UN year after year. That dude thinks of everything haha.

BTS has such a deep EQ, that they have mentioned already that the concept of BTS have transcended themselves. At this point in their careers, they want to use their platform for good, and they are not selfish or too proud to be able to deliver a song like PTD, and to do so at the UN. Which is why RM said that language is no longer as important to them as it was earlier in their career.

They originally wanted to perform this live in front of the UN Assembly, but due to the set up, it wasn't Covid safe. So when they flew in NYC Saturday night, they went to the UN at 1:00 a.m. to tape the inside performance until early in the morning. Then they went to the hotel to sleep few hours, then went back to the UN early in the morning (around 6:00 a.m.) to shoot the rest of the outdoor scenes. They went back to the hotel to rest and practice their speeches. They work so hard and are so professional! Fun fact: The 7 nickel plated doors BTS came out of the UN were donated by the Canadian Government; on the exterior of each one of them are four panels symbolizing peace, justice, truth and fraternity! It was serendipity that the 7 members of BTS came out of those 7 doors! :)

I actually think it was more appropriate to film it exactly like this so they could run around inside and outside in the grassy courtyard. It really captures their exuberance, plus (luckily) sunny blue skies and everything. So it really worked out perfectly. And I really love the 7 doors for 7 members (anyone here heard of the 1950s musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"? :P)... again, perfect 'coincidence'. Plus, construction of this headquarters was completed in 1951.. that's right, exactly 7 decades ago. :)

The designer of the 7 doors said lets make it seven because in the future seven guys will be using it for a world performance. By the way the seven doors were donated by Canada. Seven nickel-bronze doors in the north (public) entrance to the General Assembly building. On the exterior of each door are four panels in bas-relief symbolizing peace, justice, truth and fraternity. Location (Building): General Assembly (GA) 1st Floor Donor Country: Canada And also talking about the sign they were making was part of the ASL (American Sign Language)) they used towards the end for the hearing impeared ARMY and non ARMY.

They also incorporated universal sign language of “ happiness”, “dance”, “freedom” “ peace” in the dance move and reaching out to more young people with hearing and speech impairment. All the members of BTS are Korean. Not Japanese. 💜😊. They made another speech at UN assembly in 2018.

There are 7 real nickel-bronze doors at the north entrance, and they said it was donated by the Canadian government. There are four bas-relief plates on the exterior side of each door, each symbolizing peace, justice, truth, and fraternity.

Only BTS could perform at THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSAMBLY, that confirms how BIG they're. They own the entire building. Before of them only Shakira and Beyonce did it but not even close to this performance. It seems that those 7 doors were made for them, FATE. Things happen for one reason. Almost at the end singing in front of that wonderful view of New York, a city that suffered a terrible attack they said... "when we fall we know how to fall" and yes they send an amazing message not only to New York but to the entire world, by the way at the end their choreography includes SING LANGUAGES which made this song even more special!!!! 💜💜

Oh gosh, that's true... they were there just a week after 11 Sept, in the 20th anniversary year of that disaster as well. Makes it even more life-affirming and powerful to see them lined up dancing, facing the skyscrapers on the opposite shore, as the camera circles around them.

💃🏻 I think there are 5 different buildings comprising the UN here in NYC but the curved building is the one most people recognize. And there are UN buildings throughout the world. (I believe in Civil War they are in Vienna) This was an amazing performance, I wish I could have been there. It was such a gorgeous day.😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

V's name actually stands for victory and he often pulls the V pose (where he outs the V up to his eye) Also, I dont know if you guys were told but the choreo has bits of sign language incorporated into it, especially near the end. 💜

The UN in New York (here) is the headquarters. There are other main offices in a handful of cities, like Geneva, Switzerland. In New York, the UN building is designated "international territory" - it is not considered part of the United States, isn't that wild? Just like embassies. The building/premises was completed in 1951, so exactly 7 decades ago, with 7 doors for 7 members. :p

So excited for this! Loved your reaction and i love this performance so much! Joyful! Ps. The choreo at the end ( in the park) is deliberately ISL (International sign language) meaning: excitement (the washboard action), dance (the fingers dancing on the hand), and peace ( the V symbol). It also means victory as you say, but in this song it is ISL to connect with hearing impaired people who have found daytoday communication with hearing people even more difficult with everyone wearing masks (unable to read lips/see facial expressions). Bts mentioned this is an interview. They are always striving for ways to connect with different groups of people. I love their authenticity 🥰💃🕺💜

And yeah this is super Broadway vibes Pssst - the ending dance part is international sign language In Britain if you do the peace sign with your palm facing forward it's like flipping the bird at someone. There is only one UN building, in New York. Most of the embassies is around there

Do you know how historic this is? Beyonce and Shakira have sung there before. But no one...NO ONE has ever gotten permission to film a MV inside the UN assembly room, the hallways, and the court yard!!! It's a first!! And to think JK and RM started at the podium where all the famous world changing UN speeches have been relayed to the world!!! The 7 doors...so cool. Something to think about ..the dance extras. To be able to get clearance to be there had to be wild! Of course they had to be vaccinated!!! And they had to get a World clearance...check to see if they had broken the law anywhere in the world. And then a background check. And they have to go through 2 security check points just to get in. And oh yes, they had to obtain their official UN I.D. card. So the background dancers are historic too!! I have no doubt they will never forget being back up dancers for BTS. FYI - There is more than 1 building. But they are all right there next to each other. It's huge!!! Offices for people all over the world. The assembly hall. And more. I have toured it. They allow you up in the balcony in the assembly hall when no on is assembled there. History was made!!!

Love your channel btw! They mentioned this on Vlive that they did film this performance only HOURS after arriving in New York. HOURS. Still jetlag, tired, no sleep and went to film this and did not lip sync. I mean who does that?? Ugh they're so amazing. I love them so much. Oh and yes there are 7 doors too and the building were built by the helped of 7 architects from what I read. 🙂💜

💃When you think of all the division, evil and anger that is usual in the UN due to all the conflicts in the world... it is wondeful to see something positive and hopeful coming from the same room....
