You're right that there was pushback on the lyrics of War of Hormone, but the COOL part is that Namjoon took the pushback as an opportunity to learn about feminism. He went to a professor of women's studies at the university to go through his lyrics and since then has come back with some amazing songs that empower women. So, whether you (universal you) agree with the pushback or not, I love how it made the boys more aware and shows off how open they are to learn. I also love how a lot of their more recent songs are gender neutral, and I can't help but think that's on purpose too.

They take criticisms as a way to grow and I'm so proud of them for that.

Back in January of 2017, my grandma and grandfather passed away, and I who was raised by them, was grieving a lot with their death. I didn't know what to do in life and nothing could change that feeling of emptiness inside me. Then SPRING DAY came out a month later and it popped out in my screen out of a sudden. I remember watching it while criying a lot. I didn't knew what the meaning of the MV was or the lyrics for the song, but it just hitted right on the spot where was hurting. I felt embraced and reconforted by this beautiful song, and I kept listening to it for days and years until now. Since that day, it became the most important song for me, and I really love Spring Day with a lot of care.

to my knowledge, spring day as a song itself is not about the sewol ferry tragedy. it is about longing for a loved one/lost companionship/friendship, and particularly yoongi’s childhood friend who is (was?) in prison. yoongi also has a solo song called dear my friend dedicated to this person, which is very beautiful. however, the spring day music video is what is rumored to be dedicated to the sewol ferry tragedy. there are many scenes that people speculate allude to the events and aftermath of the incident. i do not believe this has ever been 100% confirmed by any bts members, but in an interview, jin did say that spring day was inspired by “a tragic event”. it was heavily rumored that this unnamed tragic event was indeed the sewol ferry incident, as bts donated to the official relief fund for the victims’ families in 2017. this was around the release of spring day, which was years after the event occurred. (bts also donated to this relief fund in 2014 when the sewol ferry tragedy happened. they even personally visited victims’ families to pay respects - only a year after their debut, when “progressive” actions like this could have put them on the south korean government’s blacklist). what we do know, though, is that the spring day music video does indeed references ideas from a story called “the ones who walk away from omelas” by ursula k. le guin. this story is about the fictional utopia of omelas, where everything is perfect. but, this grand city relies on one thing - the eternal suffering of a single child. if the child is helped, the city will turn to a dystopia. this truth is revealed to the children born in omelas as they come of age, and they are forced to make a choice. they can accept the suffering of this child as being for the good of the people and stay to enjoy a long life full of prosperity, or walk away from omelas. in the story, if you so choose, you must walk away from omelas alone. in the spring day music video, the motel is omelas. at first, it has no vacancy. later in the music video, the motel is completely abandoned. the members of bts left omelas /together/ because they could not stand to benefit from another’s misery. this conveys the message that although this was a tough decision, it is something they can get through together. no one is ever truly alone. and that’s why the theme of this album is - /you never walk alone/.

The song Spring Day was actually written by RM about losing a friendship (I believe) but the MV was made in tribute to the ferry accident. As difficult as it may be, I highly recommend that at some point you check out the explanation video (by Italian Army) for it. The symbolism they added into the video based on books, theatre etc. make the video so much more meaningful and will connect you into the fandom in a deeper way than before. Of course, we understand if you don't want to share your reaction with the world. 💜

Jungkook was 13 years old When he joined BigHit in 2011 & 15 years old when debuted with BTS in 2013. So, he is 15 years old in that "No more dream" mv. & 16 years old in "War of hormones" mv but said 18 coz in Korea they count 2years additional to their real/international age.

Now that you've seen Save me, you have to listen to I'm Fine, it's like a continuation (literally has the same beat but is being played backwards because RM is a genius obviously) but realizing that you can save yourself Also, as for background vocals, it varies between Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, and V

Its so crazy to go back and watch No More Dream cuz its baby BTS! Airplane Pt2 is definitely in my top 5 favorite BTS songs its so good! Its even better to watch live. Oh and little fun fact the mv for Save Me is all done in one shot. There is a video you can watch that shows how the mv was shot I definitely recommend that video.

In my opinion, the “New Yorker, Sewol” video is so perfectly explained. Some of the survivors and parents of lost kids shared their stories. Such a sad situation.

If you want to cry, definitely check out The Truth Untold. Either lyrics or live versions only. NO MV for this one. It's so BEAUTIFUL. The vocal line harmonizes so BEAUTIFULLY together always. You don't need to know the words to feel the emotion when any of the GUYS sings. LOVE them.

At the end of the Fire mv we see "Boy meets what" At the end of Save me we see "Boy meets_" Their very next album was Wings Comeback trailer - Boy meets evil There are many layers of meaning for Spring Day. There's the meaning behind the lyrics and what the inspiration/introspection were behind them. Namjoon did say it was missing a friend, and Yoongi did say it was about losing a friend. So that is what I mainly think about when I think about what this song means. But also visually, via the music video there are other layers of meanings added - like references to Omelas, Snowpiercer (well Snowpiercer's more in the lyrics but still there's the train) and even people linking it to a tragedy. Jin even said it is about a sad event but did not further speculate.

About Airplane pt 2 - it's originally a korean song and they created a japanese version (and it sounds more natural in korean so I would recommend you listen to the original. Yes Yoongi's lyrics sound a bit interesting in japanese haha). Yes Hobi's verse is the same as his track Airplane. I believe Bang PD thought Airplane sounded like a BTS song so they made it the basis of Airplane pt 2. They have other japanese songs that are originally japanese.

Not everybody knows it but Spring day release was the reason why all other song releases was moved from 12 a.m kst to 6 p.m kst. Bts literally broke all music sites with Spring day. Especially melon. They were shutdown for 4 hours bcs all workers were at home and it took a lot of time to fix it. I believe they moved the standard release time to 6 p.m kst so they could prevent this type of long sites shutdowns.

I just want to say that I called it. I'm talking about Jin. The album that contains War of Hormone (Dark&Wild) is all about the experiences of adolescent males. I'm not male or adolescent, but I remember dealing with them when I was that age, and watching my five nephews live through it. The whole album captures that time perfectly. Some consider it their best album.

Some information on airplane pt 2 . It was confirmed by Big Hit Entertainment once the tracklist for Love Yourself: Tear was released that "Airplane Pt. 2" is a follow up to the song "Airplane" which was off J-Hope's mixtape Hope World. In a behind the scene's album review member RM said that when CEO Bang Si-hyuk first heard J-Hope's song it sounded like a BTS song, inspiring them to write a part two. I would say most of us know the korean audio version of the song. Yes you got it right good job recognizing his verse. 😄

About Spring Day... It's important to separate "Spring Day" the song from "Spring Day" the music video. While the song is about missing friends (RM and Suga have said this repeatedly), the director of the music video said that he crafted the narrative with the Sewol tragedy in mind. He also included references to "Snowpiercer" by Bong Joon-ho and "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas" by Ursula K. LeGuin. What these works of art have in common with Sewol is injustice resulting from class warfare. The MV is just packed with references to Sewol, and the two 'explained' videos are worth the watch. A lot of ARMY think that BTS took a huge career risk with this song, but the timeline of events does not support this idea. By the time this song was released Park Guen-hye - the corrupt president who was blacklisting people for speaking out against Sewol - had already been impeached and stripped of her power. She was in jail within days of the MV's release. Now, there is an earlier BTS song that was very risky and controversial. It has lyrics (and choreo!) criticizing President Park about Sewol and other scandals during her term. That song is "Am I Wrong." This song came out shortly after Sewol, and it could have easily gotten them in trouble with Park Geun-hye. But they never made the blacklist. They just were not famous enough at the time to catch her attention. By the time Spring Day's MV came out they were pretty huge. If she still had power, it would have been very problematic.

The song itself is more about grief and dedicated to people that have lost someone, the rappers' verses that are more specifically about each other/friends. The video is about the tragedy, but since the song is also about grief, it can be considered a homage to the families of the deceased in the tragedy as well as the survivors.

It's too bad you didn't find the video that does have subtitles for No More Dream because the lyrics are pretty important in this song. You really should react to the spring Day music video explained. Many of the reactors have reacted to that video and it's always interesting to observe as all the references come up.

The fact BTS experiment with so many genres and still they don't have a single bad songs! Spring day is such a queen 😫💜 And yes, Hobi's verse in Airplaine pt.2 is the same as Airplane but with completely different beat, speed and flow. 🔥 By the way, the "boy meets" was like a hint for their next comeback, Wings. And well, the intro was J-hope's 'Boy meets evil'. I don't know if you noticed that but in the Fire MV at the end said "Boy meets what" and this was released before Save me so yeah.. Being part of a BTS comeback is an amazing experience because you never know if it's going to be a comeback full of theories and spoilers or what. A lot of times we 🤡 but other times we were right!

So I remember when Sewol happened, it was so sad but I will honestly say I didn't fully take it in until I became ARMY & learned about Spring Day. I'm a parent now and I sobbed my way through the explanation videos (there are 2, both add important details so if you can handle both I'd recommend them but they're definitely emotionally rough so take care). Spring Day is a very special song. As for the Japanese releases, I had to laugh because omigod why did it seem like you were talking about Girls Generation's Japanese releases? You said "motorcycles" and that's all I could think of 😅 BTS' Japanese exclusive releases are much more in the Spring Day vein of ballad/upbeat ballad (is that a thing? Their debut holds a special place for me. It's far from my favourite song of theirs, and wow do I hate the styling, but it was a strong song to start with, and it's still a bop. War of Hormone makes me laugh, because the styling is the exact aesthetic that would've had me frothing in college, but had someone come up to me and said anything resembling those lyrics they'd have gotten a stern talking to.😂 Ugh Airplane pt2 is prolly one of my favourite BTS songs. It's a follow up to Airplane, and it is just so smooooooth, and the choreo is *chefs kiss * Same goes for Save Me tbh. The vocals and the rapping in it are some of my favourites and the choreo is awesome. Spring Day just makes me feel soft. It's beautiful, and the video is so pretty. The lighting and colours were fab, and rewatching it now and seeing all the little bits that they brought back and referenced in the Yet to Come MV recently just ads an extra layer of nostalgia too. Spring Day is hitting me harder than it did when it first came out. I have suffered two major losses, my aunt and grandpa due to cancer. I thought I was over it, but that isn't something you just get over. It's still there in the back of mind. They made this song for the people South Korea lost due to a ferry accident.

The debut went bad. K-pop is notorious for not excepting "different". The fact that a hip hop based idol group debut with a song about how dreams are being commodified by society and criticised the system was enough for BTS to receive backlash from EVERYONE. Some said it's not realistic, or people made fun of their names or their songs. Older K-pop fandom (I would not name, but ARMYs know who I am talking about) smash them in internet and said " you are trying hard to be like ***, but kids you will never be like them". So yeah! The debut went bad. But BTS manage to catch attention of a few young audience, who thought the music is telling their story and they were small in numbers, but they saw BTS's sincerity and decides to stick up with BTS through hard times. That's how ARMY work till today.

War of Hormone was indeed a part of their Youth concept of boys going from the School trilogy concept of their first albums to growing up and experiencing the confusion of puberty. I think perhaps some people forget that they are a "concept heavy" group and are very honest lyrically. Also, you are right about Spring Day. RM explained in a VLive that he wrote the lyrics about missing a friend, but the video has many undeniable references to the Sewol tragedy (yellow ribbons, You Never Walk Alone, the laundromat scene, etc). I am hoping you chose to watch the Italian ARMY explained video as it is more detailed as they caught more references that the other. I hope you have a nice weekend!

"Airplane Pt.2" is a quintessential international song, a South Korean group singing in Japanese to a Latin beat. "Spring Day" explained by Italian Army is very hard to get through, I cry every time I see it, do not feel pressured to watch it on camera, some reactors try and half way through give up because they become so upset.
