Andrei Arlovski defended his UFC HW Interim belt once before being promoted to undisputed. Renan Barão defended his UFC BW Interim belt twice before being promoted to undisputed. But as Aspinall said, this is the first time that the Interim Champ is forced to defend it against a contender whilst the Champion is planning a comeback later this year.

With the era we are in currently, all the big name stars are retiring in 2024. Tom will be one of the only 3 guys left in the UFC who has great charisma, and exciting fights. He's positioned to be the biggest star in the company.. I'm highly irritated that Dana has kept Tom on the sidelines, especially because they are trying to needlessly "force" the Jon Jones vs. Stipe fight to help counteract Ngannou's rise to popularity. With Ngannou being knocked out, don't be surprised to see Dana change his mind about the Jon vs. Stipe fight, to focus instead on Tom vs. Stipe for the title. It feels unlikely that Jon will actually fight in 2024.

Jones had 1 fight at HW. Jones wasn't exciting at LHW in years. Tom has kod everyone opponent he won against in the UFC. Jones lifestyle , age and not been a natural HW means he will stay clear of tom
