Born Sombat Banchamek on May 8, 1982 in Surin, Thailand, Buakaw embarked on his wrestling journey at the tender age of eight in his hometown. At age 15, Buakaw moved to Chachoengsao, where he found his home in the esteemed Por. Pramuk Gym in Bangkok, Thailand. Under the guidance of experienced trainers, he became a force to be reckoned with in the field of Muay Thai. Initially known as Damtamin Kiat-anan, he soon adopted the name Buakaw Por.
