This was my first trip with the Bucca Bull Shad and Bull Herring BIG swimbaits! My first impression and my first fish did not disappoint!

Some nice catches as usual. A lot of that beautiful water you fish reminds me of lakes I used to fish in north Florida. I miss those days….

Oh my goodness.... I didn't put it in my video but I was talking to the camera about that poor dog. I'm sure it just wanted inside so it could cool off. I fish here often and have never heard it before.

I had my first ever double up on the baby bull gill, caught a 2 pounder on the front treble and a 3 on the back treble. Great work as always

I gotta throw the Baby Bull Shad and the Baby Bull Gil my son got me before it gets too weedy. Good day gaining some confidence with the Bucca Baits Bull Shad. That 4 pounder was a beauty ! Even the little guys nail it…. bass are so aggressive. Seeing that bass hit it underwater was so cool !

You really need to tie your babies on! They're fun! They'll be super effective swimming over the top of those weeds! The fish at the end ... that underwater strike.... that was one of your favorites.... PICKEREL! haha

Hey good job on your first outing with the Bullshads, they will definitely outlast the Savage Gear baits. It takes time to learn what retrieves works best for any swimbait, I fish here in Florida also and my best success on these multi joint is to use the rip/pause type action, I think its a more reactive presentation, they mostly seem to slam it on the pause. But that might be difficult fishing that way out of a kayak as I use the rod to sweep the bait for the rip phase and then reel back down as I point the rod back at the bait, thats when the bait gets hit. I probably get 80% of my fish that way compared to 20% by just straight retrieving, you will get a lot of followers with a straight retrieve that dont commit, which is also cool to see.

Thanks Rock! I experimented with all kinds of retrieves. On the Bucca website tips section, he says to have the rod tip up and crank it fast. That's how I was positioned on the big fish catch. I can do a somewhat rip / pause in the kayak. Maybe not as effective as your method, but close. I'll try that on the outing. Have you modified your bucca baits ... ie. tightened up the action? I see a lot of folks doing that. I really like the action just as it is. Sooooo slinky!

@@OldLadyAngler On the multi joint swims you can replace the hooks with some lighter ones along with replacing the split rings with cord to make them more slow sink, a lot of guys out west throwing the big baits use PE assist line, I've just used 80 - 100 lb braid. There is an advantage using line as it wont bind when a fish is on which allows them to use that big bait to torque the hooks out. Those baits are made to be fished fairly fast, I've just always caught more fish throwing in those pauses in stead of straight retrieving, at least down here in Florida. The next bait you should look into is his Trick Shad, it's a true glide bait. Very stable even at a hard burn but will also suspend more when stopped, extremely effective bait in contrast to the multi joints. Some days they like one action over the other, I usually throw the glides more often than the swims. Warning though, they are not cheap and they sell out instantly when Mike he has his drops, they're a very sought after bait because they catch fish. Anyways its always is good catching fish on swimbaits, it seems to bring more satisfaction than just catching fish on a worm.

Wow... those Trick Shad are HUGE!! I don't have the gear to throw baits that big! My shoulders and hands probably wouldn't manage it well either! $230 😳

Watch out there it’s too hot for us fisherman & woman drink plenty of water . I like bucca baits but I’d put my money a DEPS 175 or a 145 in gold shiner pattern a very expensive Japanese swim bait .

Yep! I definitely drink up when it's this hot out. The Bucca works great for me. Don't want to throw anything bigger than these.
