Buccaneer XN974 Engine Startup and Taxi at Yorkshire Air Museum

7 жыл бұрынHere’s a video of Buccaneer XN974’s first full public engine run at the Museum following her repaint into her original Royal Navy colours.
We are sometimes asked for longer videos of our jets, so here is the full sequence, uncut from start to finish performed by our volunteer engineering team. This runs to just under 15 minutes, so for those who may not wish to watch the whole video, here are the highlights to scroll to:
0 - 2:00 minutes, air assisted engine startup
2:57 - wings unfolding
3:35 - engine run up to full power each side
5:50 - wings refolding
6:20 - chocks away and taxi
9:45 - wings unfold and airbrake / arrestor hook / rotting bomb bay cycling
14:00 - shut down

I think it was this Buccaneer or the camouflage one you have that my Dad worked on at Holme upon Spalding Moor, port wing had had a bird strike and needed a repair,,, I came with hom one day and he showed me the panel he did as it was still visible. Happy days, and its fantastic to see its still a live aircraft and im assuming serviceable condition. Excellent !

LPAST is the prefered way to start a BUC, no air power without ground power :-)

Will she ever fly again? Type rating is still active, so theoretically it could still legally fly?

one more problem, @8:38 the 'martial' forgot to salute and give him the "kick" to take-off, like in topgun, as this is the traditional "goodbye".

@6:00, NO wonder he could NOT taxi, as the ground crew forgot to take the chocks away from his wheels!!!

Truth be told, the buc is not large a plane. The largest single seat I ever saw was at the San Diego airshow and that was the F-105 Thundercheif--- That old boy was almost as big as a airliner😶
