The most popular hunting knife in the world. Awesome quality. American made. But what is the deal with the sheath? LOL =D Enjoy! Duane

I had a KA-BAR USMC with leather sheath a while back. During a hike over open land, our group encountered two wire fences, we climbed over them. About a mile or two of walking after we encountered the fences, I noticed my knife was missing. I hauled ass back to the area and tried to find my KA-BAR. Sadly I never found it. Somehow, the fence wire got caught up on the dinky top strap, unsnapped the button, and out fell the knife into chest high prairie grass. I now have a Buck 124 Heritage Frontiersman, and I love having the extra big top strap for added security.

this knife is one of the sharpest, most durable knives for every day use- almost too dangerous sharp- I use it on wood and plastic, to carve and scrape and never have to sharpen, only hone the knife back to razor sharp- Also, the thick squared edge of the sheath makes and outstanding honing surface with a little honing oil or wax added. The original edge is spot on geometry for easy sharpening and honing. Best bang for buck- no pun intended, weather on sale or not....

My grandpa bought one back in the 60's still carries a razor sharp edge even after multiple resharpenings. It has some dents and dings, but its what I gutted my first deer with and it has gutted no telling how many thousands of others. Once you buy one, you never need to buy another!

Good deal... I bought a Mod 119 NON-special for 4 bucks more (before tax) than yours cost. But my sheath is made of cordura with in the same "creeps me out" style. One of the reasons I wanted a Mod 119 was for the SCREAM connection. Rock and roll.... For the most part I think that you just can't go wrong with a Buck..

You're like me and like a deal. I just picked one up a few days ago at kmart for 30 bucks on clearance. Saw it in the locked display case with the green clearance sticker. Manufactured in 2007... must have been in that case for a while.

@fatguydias Thanks Pato. I totally agree. I would think knife companies would offer more than one choice of sheath, at least with their best knives. I'd love to see a Kydex tactical sheath for this knife. I would have paid extra for that! =)

Sheath is made to hold your knife not to be some fast draw wanna be tactical Knife. This knife was made for skinning and butchering large game animals. The sheath was made so no matter what terrain/ brush your going through your not going to loose your knife.
