According to a guide, the AI knows the last shell of the sequence. He does NOT know the other shells. Hence the remaining shots are all based off of a coin flip of whether or not the dealer shoots himself or you. That is why it seems like at times he is wasting his magnifying glasses or shoots himself when there is clearly a higher chance of a live round or when there are no blanks left. Just a tip for anyone who is still playing and wanted some insight

I’m not sure about how it works in the new release, but as far as I know the original AI only made smart uses of items in the cases of like, magnifying glass -> saw. Otherwise it’s just using the items in the order it got them, which is only viewable in the code.

In Double or Nothing after the Steam release, he can count the shells and act according to the ratio, so he's been buffed there. No more shooting himself when there's no blanks, even if shooting himself with more blanks is generally worse than shooting you (you don't gain anything with a self-shot, see that other guide).
