Ok so I’ve heard a lot of people say that Bucky was needed in the show and while I agree I think I know why. So he was going to therapy now due to government regulations my guess is that before he didn’t have a therapist and didn’t open up so he kept it bottle all inside and that’s where a lot of the fuel to his strength came from is his trauma. But often as a trauma survivor myself I’ve personally noticed that as I start to open up and trust people that a lot of my built up anger while it’s still there it’s not the same. I think that Bucky’s mind in the show while it is recovering most of it is that there’s that first initial download for say of actually registering emotions but then there’s the secondary shit that will likely set in in thunderbolts of coming to terms with it and learning to use it. But I mean if your gonna nerf a character at least make it believable such as make some overwhelming flashback overcome him. Something logical.

I’m pretty sure his memory came back slowly; he went thru so much trauma that his confusion in the beginning had more to do with the fact that he could not process any of it, than any actual memory loss. Honestly his brain was just scrambled eggs at that point, with all the times it had been wiped and reprogrammed etc.. These are just my opinions tho :))

I think he was meaning what did he do at the place they were holding him in when he snapped into his winter soldier mindset

Basically what I happened is because his brain had been scrambled so much, his memories sort of come in a weird order, sometimes he could remember what he ate for breakfast a week before but not remember if he had eaten lunch yet for a while. Also, the code words push Bucky down and resurface the winter soldier, but Bucky is still watching, so while he didn't remember what he did at first, after a moment of focusing he remembered that Zemo asked him about Siberia. I think that's it at least
