One of the best conversations on the podcast so far. Bucs Head Coach and Super Bowl champ Bruce Arians talks with Colin about when he was Peyton Manning's first QB coach, Peyton's prankster reputation, the similarities and differences between Tom Brady and Peyton, how Brady instantly changed the Bucs' culture, how winning the Super Bowl has changed Bruce's life, what he considers a fireable offense for his staff, why he was onboard with adding Antonio Brown, the reason he and GM Jason Licht work so well together, what Patrick Mahomes did during his pre-draft workout that blew Bruce away, and why he decided to un-retire and get back into coaching. Coming from Arizona, I like Kliff, and have never personally had him on the hot seat, I knew it was gonna take time for us to get good again. Here we are!!! But I would be lying if I said that I don't miss BA and his crew. His coaches have been with him since he was coaching at Temple. Half of his coaches and other people he always works with, were former players of his. He keeps his friends close, treats people well, and is a hell of a coach and offensive mind.

As someone who’s spent 20 something years watching Bill Belichicks press meetings and the occasional interview with Patriots players I have to say it’s a breath of fresh air to watch the Buccaneers! Getting to see interviews with a coach who says what he’s thinking and constantly praises his staff and team has really made me understand why everyone looks at the Patriots as the most boring team in the NFL. I’ll always be a Patriots fan, I’m still a little sad we didn’t get that 7th ring with Brady to become the first franchise with 7 but I can honestly say I’m happy Tom made the move to Tampa and gave me another team to root for. About 5 minutes into Tampa’s opener last year I realized I’d never have it in me to root against Tom no matter what team he was on so I’m just enjoying the ride, I think I might be a Pats/Bucs fan from here on out.

12:46 When BA talks about what makes an elite NFL QB, he nails the exact reason why Tom is GOAT. The prerequisite mental talent to be an NFL QB should not be diminished or overlooked. Media figures really like to say, "Oh that guy is WAY more talented" when referring to physical talent, but the media always overlooks the mental talents associated with elite QB play. Tom may not be as physically talented, but man does that guy have one of the greatest minds to ever play the game, and that's the most valuable talent for a QB as stated by BA.

@BE4ST Everybody in the NFL is extremely talented so I always hated that idiotic false narrative about Brady. People in the media use foolish propaganda, spew nonsensical rhetoric, and give lazy analysis. It's a "QB driven league." It's about clutch play, being a great leader, making your teammates better, and putting your team in the best possible position to win games and ultimately winning games. And nobody has done that better or more consistently and for as long as Brady has and that's just another reason along with a slew of other ones why he's the real 🐐 at the position.

After hearing what Darrelle Revis said about Belichick, Arians seems like the coach you would want to play for. A people person with empathy for those around him. Whereas Revis saying playing in New England, although he had success, he did not enjoy it. He would rather play winning football in another way. This is that way, with the like of Arians, Pete Carroll and Andy Reid.

Ego's plays a big part in football and to have bruce to allow brady to open up and contribute to coaching is something not may coaches will willing to do. The younger coaches attitude will be " it is my way or the highway", that is why only two teams chased brady as other teams needed a QB with younger coach would not able to work with brady. Bruce ability to put his ego aside was the best for Tampa Bay.

Brady studies and gets to know his team, he knows what they can and cannot do, he studies defense like none other. Ray Lewis talked about it a couple years ago on undisputed. Like Arians said you can't judge brain and heart and they all got it wrong, New England got lucky, although those early wins, those teams taught Brady a lot. Brady should be an inspiration to life in general when they say you're not good enough, work harder and prove them wrong if you truly want it.

Here's the way I see it. I'm a lifelong Bucs fan. But I believe Belichek is maybe the greatest coach ever. However, at this point in his career, Brady doesn't need a coach who keeps him under lock, and micromanages everything. Arians is Brady's perfect coach.
