@@potatopng4180 That’s so dumb, coming from a fellow clarinet player. The clarinet was the originally a defining instrument used in jazz and when the saxophone came along most players were hesitant to start using it because they were so used to the clarinet. Nowadays people barely acknowledge us and how our instrument defined jazz when it was first starting out. It’s really sad tbf that your band director has no fuckin clue about the history of jazz and decided to deny you like that when the clarinet has even more jazz historical significance than the saxophone.
