Excellent video! You answer the why's before someone has the chance to ask. Alot of instructors cant answer everything, they just teach because thats how they were taught, may not know the "why". Great Job! 💪👍

My choices that got me into PRS competition are: 1. 6.5 Creedmoor Ruger Precision Rifle, Gen 1 (Yep, RPR) 2. Bushnell ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50 scope with H59 "Christmas tree" reticle (on Nightforce one-piece mount) 3. Little Bastard muzzle brake (Gen. 2 RPRs come with a Ruger brake.) 4. Atlas bipod 5. CTK monopod 6. TAB Gear competition sling 7. Midway shooting mat The is a mid-priced setup of two "Best-for-the-Money" products. But I consistently get 1/2 MOA or less with 5 shot groups. I'm happy! When I have to buy a new barrel I will get a proof Research carbon fiber wrapped barrel. And I may get a Trigger Tech aftermarket trigger. Eric B.

Eric B. That is a great setup Eric! I don’t rarely have a chance to use a monopod but you definitely have a great selection. I currently use all the Carbon Proof barrels and have been thoroughly satisfied with them. Just have to watch out for getting them too hot.

I am in the Washington, DC Metro area in Northern VA. In this area (Other than Quantico Marine Corps Base, and you need to belong to a special club to have access there), even heading west out towards the mountains where most of us “Flat-landers” go for the opening of hunting season there aren’t any places to shoot more than a couple hundred yards. I purchased an M&P10 and mounted a Burris Eliminator III scope to it . Once you input the caliber and bullet grains it does almost everything else for you... you have to manually calculate and add windage but this rifle is good out to 700 yards. You simply hit the laser range finder button then hold the target on the dot it highlights and squeeze the trigger. It makes semi long distance shooting so easy it should be illegal :-)
@XRING
@XRING 6 жыл бұрын
I am very familiar with that setup. Hypothetically, what happens when the electronics or batteries go dead ? I know the Burris products carry a lifetime warranty and that they are good to go. I guess that's why I still like a data book. It is definitely a product that makes long distance shooting easy.

X-RING Yes, Mr Murphy and his law... I carry a spare battery under the other cap and a couple in my range bag but thankfully have never needed them. I believe it shuts off after a short period of no movement to keep the battery from dying. On my AR-15 I only have a Bushnell TRS-25 co-witnessesed with my irons. I may have to change that as my 53 year old eyes aren’t what they were just a few years ago.

Just joined the Clinton House a few weeks ago. Have a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 creedmoor and have just done some work to the factory stock to free float and strengthen it up. Running an SWFA SS 10x on top. Got 3 consecutive hits on the 10 inch square at 1k, and lit the silhouette up the other day. You really dont need a 2k dollar rifle. That just makes it easier. Lol. Maybe we will run into each other down there someday. Good video

Great video thank you for sharing! A little more volume at the table top would be greatly appreciated sir. I'll preface my question with I know this is not a "long range" consideration but what do you think about the Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39 as far as a rifle that will get some work done at moderate-close range but most importantly to me right now is cost of rifle & ammo allowing 3-5x's more time on the gun vs a .308 due to ammo cost alone. I do want a .308 but just further down the road. Thanks again!
@XRING
@XRING 6 жыл бұрын
I'dRatherBeOutside Thanks for the input. I’m still doing everything from a standard IPhone, even the editing. I will definitely try to pay attention to the mic volume a little better. Your question about the 7.62x39 is a good one. As long and you get some decent glass and shoot decent quality ammunition it is not a problem engaging longer distance targets with that setup. Try not to shoot steel core or bi metal ammo as it will absolutely wreck your barrel. Thanks

Ray? On the Ruger PR’s I’ve seen them chambered in 5.56, 308, and 6.5 Creedmoore. Is 6.5 still the way to go or is .308 still ok?
@XRING

I would choose the 6.5 personally, but the .308 is not a bad choice.

Budget friendly? 5.56 shooting 77gr bullets. I would go with a 20” barrel. You will be good out to 1k but you will have to do your part with the wind calls.

Nice getting started informational.... I just got a Savage Ashbury Precision in 6.5 creed with a Vortex razor HD 5-20x50 that Im taking out this weekend to get sighted in. I really dont have much experience with long range shooting out past 400 yards... would there be any benefit to range it in at 200 as compared to 100 due to the flat trajectory (out to 300 ) of the 6.5 creed? thanks man !
@XRING
@XRING 6 жыл бұрын
WTF SoCal Great setup and caliber. I don’t personally zero at 200 because a lot of “sniper” comps always throw a stage in there where we are shooting at like 20 something yards on a dime sized bullseye from a crazy position. You can still do the same thing with the 200 yard zero just as easily, but I always run a 100 yard zero on the Kestrel. For most of the sniper comps they REALLY reduce the overall size of the near targets (10-200) yards to the size of a size of a ping pong ball or less. That’s why I run the 100 zero. Have fun this weekend and let me know how it all turns out! Thanks
