The belt routing looks good, but the housing for the thermostat is going to be an issue. You may check to see if there is supposed to be another idler pulley, or something.

The power steering pump doesn't need a bolt because its a press fit. Also its not pressed on all the way. the power steering pump pulley needs to be flush with the power steering pump shaft. The PS pump threads are only for installation.

as most said the thermostat is blocked now need a different water pump. also the steam ports is supposed to have a hose go to the rad. what you did is just block it off and create an air pocket.

Taylor your doing great man!!! I love your content and your recent intro edits. Watching you has lead me to believe that men do think alike lol. Like for example if you get a longer serpentine belt so the tensioner can be raised so the pitch of the belt is now moved closer to the center leaving room for the thermostat housing. If you've noticed it already awesome! Can't wait to see that miata go once your done with building it. I'm counting down the days or weeks that will be sick!! Catch you on the slide

You’ll be lucky if that power steering unit works after beating it on like that, if you don’t have the installer the auto parts store would rent it to you. You froze and heated those bushings to do it right, but beat the shaft that has worm gears on it to get a pulley on....

I know you got an ear full on the power steering pump and use of a torque wrench, but advice sometimes less to learning. Note; When installing a component that has multiple bolt, always start each bolt by hand, hit lightly with an impact and once real close, finish with the proper sequence, stop short of final torque then repeat to finished book torque or angle. Retired now, but in 1972, I help rebuild a tractor. It was a departure from cars, trucks even school buses. The tractor had 80 1/4" bolts on the 300 pound oil pan and broke the last bolt off. Repeat, remove, extract, start over and save to memory! You are getting there, hit like! Everyone makes mistakes and learning from those or not is the difference. Take care buddy. ASE Master since 1978.

those power steering pumps are very hard to bleed the air out of the power steering lines. you need to apply vacuum to the reservoir and turn the wheel back and forth with the engine off until no more air is coming out {witch never works} i found if you start it up and shut it off right when it starts, wait for the bubbles to go away and repeat that a bunch of times works good. and most of the time those aftermarket pumps start whining and foaming the fluid after a week. I recommend getting a genuine GM power steering pump.
@chickenfishhybrid44
@chickenfishhybrid44 6 жыл бұрын
yooperland GM style like that pump are some of the easiest to bleed I've found. Ford ones for example are much worse. Best way to bleed is to have the car jacked up with the front tires off the ground. Fill the reservoir and slowly turn the wheels left to right. Refill the reservoir as needed. Ideally do it till there are little to no bubbles showing up in reservoir before starting the engine.
