Hi! We are Trey and Rosa, we have 5 kiddos and we moved from the big city of Las Vegas to the outskirts to homestead and grow our own food with the goal of self-sufficiency. We converted to eating plant based due to health reasons and we've seen the benefits it has done to our family!

Yes, these were simple meals, which we need sometimes. Thanks for sharing. I leart mulberries grow on trees, I thought they grew on bushes like blackberries. God bless your family from grandma Katie in Oregon

Hi Suzanne! Man that mulberry jam turned out yummy! We left the stems and they were supposed to cook down but there’s some texture to our jam 😆 but other than that it’s very tasty with no added sugar because the berries were already so sweet!

We had a mulberry tree in the front yard. I used to climb it and eat the berries when I was a kid.

I make Spanish rice with a home made spice blend, olives, onions and garlic. . I put beans in it and also serve them on the side. It’s a savory dish.

I’ve been meaning to make Spanish rice! Maybe I will try to make this the next time. What is your spice blend? Oregano, cumin, and is it a tomato based rice?

My absolute new obsession is making pesto with dinosaur kale. I’ve also made it with Arugula too but the Dinosaur Kale is my absolute favorite. Try it!

Ooh interesting! Does the kale not leave a bitter taste in your pesto? That’s a harsh green to use raw I find. How do you make it taste less bitter?

Mulberries are the best! We have a tree that’s a baby right now but hoping to get it nice and big like our neighbors!

@@thehaipath the cashew butter is in replacement for the usual pine nuts or walnuts. But yes creamy and delicious

Great choices, Israel! I love beans and rice. Your pasta dish looked amazing! I like to make pesto with cashews, they have such a rich taste, and really add to whatever you are using like basil, spinach, etc. I love Chinese 5 spice on grilled corn on the cob! Where do you get that style of pasta from? It looks like a good one to use for a cold pasta salad in the summertime with chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, olives, oil, seasonings, etc. I live in AZ, so during the summer when my kids were younger, I would puree frozen fruit with a little sweetener to the consistency of sorbet, they loved that. :) Thanks again, for another great video!

That cold pasta salad sounds so good we’ll have to try it with our pasta! We get it from Smiths which is an affiliate of Kroger and it’s the private selection brand I believe. 5 spice on corn is so unique! And yes the kids do love making puréed or fruit slushies to make into popsicles it’s very healthy for you. Thank you for your love and support Jenny!! 🥰

They are the absolute sweetest!! And they’re so soft, I describe it as just sweet like honey if you get the dark purple ones!

I use the same ratio of rice to water when I cook rice. I don't know who came up with the 2:1 ratio. In my opinion it makes the rice mushy.

Yes! Way too mushy! I do add extra water if I cook a certain type of brown rice. Cooking brown jasmine or sprouted rice I like to use this ratio!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_nut All about the pine nut. Very good but very expensive. I too use walnuts and lemon juice in my pesto. Many years ago in a restaurant in San Francisco I learned that you can even use lemon juice in place of garlic in pesto.

Hello Anna Marie! Thank you for the article! Yes pine nuts are so so expensive we’ve never bought it haha Yes I felt I should’ve added lemon but just left it for Israel. Interesting substituting lemon for garlic, garlic adds such good flavor to it I don’t see how garlic can be replaced with anything 😁
I tried every way to make Crispy Tofu. This is the best one.
