Budgie Breeding | Everything You need to know

Breeding budgie is a very interesting thing to do but some things as to be considered and put in place for successful breeding. After getting your breeding pair it is important to inspect them. They will need to be healthy, over 10 months, and well bonded. If they are from the same family, it is best to split them up and introducing another make or female to breed from.

I bought 3 pairs of budgies in the month of July. In the month of December all the three pairs mated and laid eggs. In one nest box two chicks have hatched. Its wonderful to sit with them and watch the babies. My budgies are very close to me.

My first visit has a really say personality as a baby that evolved into being a jerk. She's a jerk to her male partner too. As far as she's concerned, I am just her food servant. He just does whatever she wants so if she's not cool with me, neither is he.

Hey, does anyone know where you can buy those wood pellet things? I have tried putting shredded paper but the girl threw it out when inspecting the nesting box. Also, her cere is a dark brown and I'm not sure if she can breed yet. I have four budgies; Blu, Kiwi, Guapo and Moon. :>

You should find a good female for sunny or mr.snowflake (in your flock mr.snowflake is my favorite his eyes are just beautiful and his style of walking and flying is like a royal budgie🐦🐦🐦🐦)

I'm having trouble as I'm new to budgie owning. I'm not exactly sure how old they are but definitely not babies. Got them from a breeder. One is luna (white with some gray spots) (she?) has a purplish pink cere and my (male?) Jubi (blue) are very close and are never away from each other, preen and feed each other. But I can't get them to breed. I put a nesting box in but neither are interested. Anyone have any ideas?

Okay so I’m planning to purchase a budgie in the future and I’ve been doing my research. I know they do well in pairs but I was wondering if it’s still be okay if I got one and have it get used to me and then eventually I’d get a second one. I’m currently in highschool but I plan on spending a lot of my time with the budgie. Especially with training.

@@maxpainmedia haha females are always so dominant. I think they'll only comfortably nest in something that they think is solid and hard to chew apart. So yea, I'd highly reccomend switching to a wooden box :)

Hello, great info! I need help with my birdos. My ready female keeps trying to grab the males attention but when she does she’s a bit rough since she gets so excited. My male budgie likes a baby female!! He keeps trying to mate with her but I’m scared since she is just about 6 months old? I mean, the ready female always checks out her nest and plays and all that but she has a lot of temper tantrums because she just wants his love. My baby female preens my male and they love each other really, do u have any info of how I can stop my male trying to mate with a baby? I also don’t wanna separate them because I don’t want my male to be sad. Any information will be useful!

I didn't try to breed my budgie .so I didn't put a box in.dhe layed an egg in the cage floor..I then put a box in and she went in layed 2 more and they hatched.i finally looked inside and there was 7 more eggs and 2 baby's alive..the female can't message out and looks skinny and pale.is the male feeding her?? I'm not sure what to do??
